Conditions of Entry/Rules/Regulations General: All horses entered must be ANSA registered and all owners of those registered horses must be current financial members. All riders and handlers must also be current financial members. Any riders or handlers who are not financial members of ANSA and who are presenting exhibits on behalf of owners will contact the Secretary of ANSA, complete an Event Membership Form, and pay the corresponding fee. No unauthorized person/persons will be allowed inside the competition ring or the marshalling area. The age of all horses will be taken from the 1st day of August. Height Certificate: Current EA Height Certificate/Life Certificate, Hack Council or Royal Show Height Certificate will be accepted. Any horse without a measurement certificate and/or in the event of a possible dispute, the horse may be required to be measured prior to competing. The ANSA measurement will then apply for the show. An ANSA Official, Ringmaster or Judge may request that any diseased/injured/significantly lame/mistreated or distressed horse be removed from the competition ring and/or the grounds. Any alleged act of cruelty to a horse should be reported as soon as possible to a Show Official. Marshalling: Each competitor in an event shall be present in or immediately adjacent to the designated Marshalling Area no later than 5 minutes prior to the commencement of that event and shall signify his/her presence upon request of the Marshalling Steward. The commencement of an event will not be delayed solely because an entrant in it has not yet signified his/her presence to the Marshalling Steward. Youth Competitors will be no older than 17 years on the first day of the show. Approved standard headwear must be worn. ANSA attire rules apply in the relevant classes. Conflict of interest: It is always the competitor s responsibility to find out who the judge is and not present for competition if there is a conflict of interest. It is not appropriate for judges to judge: a) Their own Students or Instructors b) Family members c) Business partners or Persons with whom they have had recent business dealings including provision or receipt of services, purchased a horse from or sold a horse to as well as horses that they recently sold, etc - within a period of not less than 6 months. d) Persons providing accommodation for judges before an event at which they are scheduled to compete under that judge. It is always the competitor s responsibility to find out who the judge is and not present for competition if there is a conflict of interest. Conduct: Exhibitors will at all times behave in a proper and courteous manner to Judges, Show Officials and other Competitors. If a person or persons behaves in an improper manner or refuses to comply with Officials directions, then the Committee or Stewards in that section shall have the right to exclude or disqualify such person/persons from competing. Obscene and/or abusive language will not be tolerated. No person shall either by himself or in conjunction with any other person, do or permit any act during the progress of an event, or prior or subsequent thereto, in connection with the Stewards or Officials during the proper exercise of their duties, shall deem to be fraudulent, corrupt, foul or improper that other persons may suffer or otherwise be penalized, or perform any act threatening the life or safety of a person. Competitors and persons in charge of exhibits must obey the Stewards at all times. Ground Jury/Protests: The Judges decision is final. Any protest against the decision of the Judge must be lodged within half an hour following the finish of the particular event The Committee s decision will be final and without appeal. Should the protest be considered frivolous, the protest fee ($100) may be forfeited by the person raising the protest. A Ground Jury will be appointed. This will consist of the Ringmaster, members of the organizing committee 12
Conditions of Entry/Rules/Regulations and a person familiar with the competition rules. The Judge of the relevant section may be consulted. The Ground Jury reserves the right to change a Judge or the Programme as considered necessary, and will adjudicate on any protest or dispute according to the rules of the Show. Refunds: A request for refunds must be in writing and lodged no less than 7 days prior to the commencement of the Event. Requests will not be granted unless accompanied by a certificate from a Veterinary Surgeon attesting that the horse in respect of which the refund is sought has either died or is unfit to compete due to injury or disease. Administration fee of $30 per horse will be deducted. No refunds of entry fees will be granted after 8th October. Classes: Novice Hack: Has not won a Champion Open Hack at a local agricultural show or a 1st Place at a Royal Show or a Champion under Saddle at a State level show The Novice definition also applies to the Show Hunter Classes. The champion will be selected from the 1st place winners from each of the eligible classes. The reserve champion will be selected from the remaining 1st place winners and the 2nd place winner or winners from the class or classes which supplied the champion. Supreme Champion will be according to the Show Programme. Hack or Show Hunter: Competitors must chose whether the horse is a Hack or a Show Hunter and may compete in one section only. Show Hunters are to be shown in plain/unadorned brow band. Bridle Path Hack: The outline of the horse in a Bridle Path Hack class is not as collected as that of the Show Hack. The Bridle Path Hack is closer in concept to a Pleasure Hack. Paces should be balanced with cadence and the horse should move forward with ease and smoothness, displaying impulsion. The horse should be obedient, have bright expression and respond willingly to light contact. Transitions should be smooth and forward. The head position should be slightly in front of, or on, the vertical. Versatile Horse: The versatile ANSA horse gives the impression of one capable of performing a multitude of tasks outside of the show ring while still demonstrating abilities and qualities desired in the ANSA horse. The Versatile Horse may be representative of one or more categories recognized in the Annual ANSA High Point Awards. Double Registered: Exhibitors with horses having two or more breed registrations may participate in classes relating to each registration - eg. A horse registered ANSA/ASH/TB may compete in both ANSA/ASH and ANSA/TB classes. P Registered: Progeny of a registered ANSA Stallion and registered ANSA Mare Brood Mare: Will be registered with ANSA as a brood mare> Sex of Horse: Unless stipulated, classes are open to Stallions, Mares and Geldings. Prohibited Substances: All horses shall perform, at the time of competition, without the aid of any drugs or prohibited/banned substance that may affect the conduct, performance or appearance of the horse. This is in accordance with the rules of the Australian Sports Anti Doping Authority. The owner and the competitor shall be considered responsible. A treatment form with supporting Veterinary information may be submitted if the horse has been administered a prohibited substance within the last 30 days. Disclaimer: All horses and competitors compete at their own risk. The Australian National Saddle Horse Association Inc. accepts no responsibility/liability for any accident, damage or illness to horses, competitors, and spectators or any other person or property. 13
