So we came to the ground knowing we needed another win after demolishing the Alexandra Park the week before and the boys knew we had to get the ten points to keep the pressure on Bessborough at the top. I won the toss & put them into bat, we opened the bowling once again with myself & Tino with both of us bowling decent areas, beating the bat without much luck at all! It was the same story for all our seamers on the day with Marcus and all 3 seamers falling wicket-less on nice batting track so time for the spin twins! In comes Sohail and Mehboob and they not only do the damage with taking wickets but they are also so good because they dry up the runs in the difficult periods of the match. To be fair the Crouch End batsmen really dug their heels in, stayed at the crease & their number 3 was a superb bat & hit a well deserved 50. I fielding was good again, we couldn t complain on that front, sometimes you will come against teams that will build partnerships & it will not always be easy to bowl teams out, but we stayed patient & Sohail took another brilliant 5-fer and ending with career best figures of 7-65 and Mehboob 3-42, bowling them out for 168 in 55. So the rain decided to come and halt any plans we had of getting another win, but I have to credit to my boys, as we put the covers on and off a few times as a team as a unit which is so important to do these things altogether and with Peter Lark also helping us out!

So we lost 25 overs because we were off for an hour and half! So we now needed to score 169 to win off 16 overs??!! That was a huge target and going to be a massive effort if we were to pull this off against a decent team like Crouch End also bearing in mind they beat us earlier in the season! We need to go at 8 an over if we were gonna do it! I got the boys in the changing room & explained it as simple as I could: "We are going for this!!" I had to make a few changes in the batting order pushing Mehboob, Dilesh & Marcus further up than they normally would be - now what happened next was nothing short of "Amazing!!" So in went Jalal & Zahid getting off to a good start putting on 30 odd for the first wicket! Now Jalal was in the mood...the boy his the ball so cleanly its beautiful to watch, think there was at least 3 spanked into the Tennis Court! Mehboob goes first ball caught on the boundary, we were shocked...now what?? In comes Dilesh...clever hitting & quick running in between the wickets, boundaries flowing from both Jalal & Dilli its was great to see as we were all supporting the boys from the boundary edge, then Dilli smashes a straight hit straight back to the bowler he gets a touch & Jalal is out of his crease...nooooo, umpires finger goes up! We are left stunned, he goes for a superb 40, in comes Fiz, plays himself in wile Dilli continues to play his shots, such clever batting from Fiz as Dilli was the man already in just let him play his game & he was rotating the strike knocking it around for ones and twos, then hands on his kness (he needs to work on his fitness - pls help him Jess) then Dilli after batting so well chops one to point out for 39 now we're 4 down and its looks tough to go all out for the win but Marcus & Fiz had other ideas...they go on to put on absolutely brilliant partnership with the combination of hard hitting and excellent running between the wickets - then Marcus hits a straight hit hard back to the bowler and can you believe it the bolwer gets a touch again & Fiz has to go again, unbelievable but another cracking innings he goes for 27! Tino comes in and bowled!! Marcus then faces their quickie spanks him for a massive six into the tennis courts, huge I tell you!! We now need 8 off 6 in the last over "Mr Composure" - Savin comes in gets 3 then its over to MPR (Marcus) he hits a boundary & we need one more Savin hits it straight to point theres never a run but their man fumbles the two youngsters run as fast as they can and we win with 3 balls left!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Marcus played a fantastic knock under ridiculous amounts of pressure as was unbeaten on 30* at the end!!! Well played youngster!! BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Two of our colts hitting the winning runs what a great sight that was too!!!!!!!!! What an amazing win from the boys!!!!! My best win since I've been captain of the First Team because I saw so proud of my boys because it was a proper Team effort as everyone contributed in such a nerve racking chase but we wouldn't of won that it if was just hit hit hit it was played brilliantly by clever batting, watching the scoreboard and playing the situation at the time!!! We were egged on by great support from the rest of the team, the 4's team, Peter and the club members so thank you everybody!!! A great day & the celebrations started, see the pics below...

Second Team Wycombe House: 126 all out in 31.4 overs Enfield: 129-7 in 31 overs Result: Enfield win

Third Team Perivale vs WHCC 3s Venue: Ealing Sports Ground, Perivale Toss: Perivale won the toss and chose to field first WHCC: WHCC: 173 all out in 50 overs (Hassan Shah 40, Adnan Haq 45) Perivale: 120 all out in 31.3 overs (Sehmbi 5 wickets, Yahya 4 wickets) Result: WHCC won by 53 runs MOM: Sehmbi for 5 wickets Report: On a gloomy overcast day, the top of the league WHCC 3rd XI went away to play the second in the league Perivale. This was a top of the table clash and would have been a decider on who would probably end up winning the league and go for promotion. Perivale won the toss and as expected put WHCC in to bat. A terrible start with the bat saw Janaka getting cleaned bowled early on and then number 3 batsman Sehmbi got out for a nought as well. Ash Vyas stuck in with Vasi for a bit but was out and so was skipper Vasi caught at mid off trying to hit one over his head. It was something like 30-4 and WHCC in trouble. The rescue act was beautifully done by in form Adnaan Haq and veteran Hassan Shah. They batted beautifully for a 80 run partnership and taking the WHCC score into treble digits. Shah eventually got out on 45, a soft dismissal to say the least as he was playing beautifully upto that point. Waqas went in at number 7 and hit a few shots before he got out as well. Haq finally got out after a very well played 40 and then Lotia and Yahya were also dismissed early. Score on 134-9 and it was upto the 2 colts and future stars Sachin and Sukh to bat out as many overs and score as many as possible to give WHCC something to defend. They batted beautifully and showed the seniors how its done. Sachin scored 29 with some class shots, and Sukh protected one end with a lot of grit and determination. Their partnership eventually ended in the last over. The 39 runs they added were very crutial in giving WHCC the momentum and added to the frustration of Perivale. Teas taken and its over to the bowlers Yahya and Vasi to give House a perfect start. Yahya struck twice in 2 balls in his 2nd over. He bowled with raw pace and sheer aggression and proved just too quick for the perivale opener and number 3. Rain came down for a half an hour break and play resumed on 7-2. After the delay, the perivale opener and number 4 batted really well and started to build a partnership. Bowling changes were made and Vasi, Yahya, Lotia, all were unable to break the partnership and runs started to flow. Perivale are now on 63-2 until Sehmbi's low full toss was creamed to cover only for skipper Vasi to

come in the way and take the ball mid air. A fantastic catch and partnership broken and probably the game changing wicket. Sehmbi continued from one end and Waqas the off spinner from the other. Runs were dried up and Sehmbi was producing some unplayable deliveries along the way. He kept on taking wickets at a regular interval thereafter and finished with a fine spell of 5 wickets. Yahya was brought back from his end on what turned out to be the final nail in the coffin for Perivale and he once again struck twice in his return over. Perivale skipper Afzal probably got the best delivery of the match which saw his off stump out of the ground wheel carting all the way to the keeper. The final wicket was taken by Waqas and WHCC win and get 10 points. Perivale are now out of contention for a promotion as they sit 20 points behind WHCC with 2 games to go. The 3s now are just 1 point away to guarantee promotion and all we need this Saturday is a losing draw against contenders Enfield. Bring on the 30th of August. Might turn out to be a long night of celebrations!!!!!

4 th Team Rained off Sunday 1 s: Wycombe house won the toss on Sunday and elected to bat. The openers Gaurav and Anil had a decent start however Gaurav was unlucky with being bowled with an absolute Jaffer. So in goes Ashen and typical Vasi umpiring gives the kid out on the first ball for lbw. Not with the best of starts I sent in my most trusted batsman AB who scored 52 and retired.

The rest of the batsman helped out with runs and Mehboobs getting a quick 54 in 20 balls and retiring. Target - 202 So out we went to field with Hamza and Nalin opening the bowling! Nalin the new addition to the club bowled brilliantly picking up 3 wickets with a beauty of a catch from myself haha! Hamza also picked a wicket. They were under 50 for 2 down and it seems liked we were cruising, however the captain made t he biggest mistake and bought Mohammed Vasi Sheikh on to bowl. The first ball was a half tracker and got exactly what it deserved. Yep you guessed it...4 runs! With Vasi bowling like this I had to replace him and I took a risk and bought on little Harris. Harris bowled a great spell getting a wicket at a crucial time in the game. With Harris on one end I thought it was time to get a spinning partnership going and I bought on AB to bowl some leg spin and boy did he bowl. AB bowled an amazing spell of leg spin and also picked his first ever competitive wicket! At the ended on 196-6 after their 40 overs so ran out of time and we won the game!!! MOM - AB and Harris Jessal Player of the week This weeks Player of the week goes to 1 st Team Spinner Sohai for taking 7 wkts!!!!
