EQUI-SOFT SADDLES Biomechanical tree that adapts to back movement The seat of the biomechanical tree is divided into two parts: facilitating freedom of movement and relieving pressure on the horse s back while adapting to the rider s movement. Preventative Seat The biomechanical tree and special seat relieve pudendal nerve pressure, helping to prevent injuries in the reproductive area in both women and men. BIOMEX SEATS Stübben has partnered with Biomex* Technology Center, the leading hospital for orthopedics and sports medicine in Switzerland, to create an innovative seat design that greatly reduces a rider s back pain. Introducing the Stübben Biomex*... it will revolutionize your idea of a comfortable saddle. Many riders (studies say over half) suffer from back pain, especially after they ride. When riding on a horse, the force exerted on the spine flows mainly through the seat bones. Pressure on these seat bones and the extremely sensitive soft tissues around them can cause pain. The Stübben Biomex* cushions the seat bones with two kidney-shaped pads, which absorb impact and relieve spinal stress. In addition, the depression between the kidney-shaped pads also plays a crucial role, as it substantially lessens any possible pressure on the soft tissues surrounding the seat bones (see the oval areas on the diagrams at the right). In scientific comparisons with conventional saddles, seat pressure measurements at various gaits show that the Stübben Biomex* provides much greater relief in the seat bone area and the surrounding soft tissues. The Stübben Biomex* eases back pain, pure and simple. It also promotes good riding posture and protects your most sensitive areas, and it s a Stübben, so you know it s good for your horse. Peak pressure on the seat (Ischial) bones was reduced in all gaits (red areas). The black ellipses mark the position of the soft tissues between the seat bones. With a jumping block (molded into the flap) for security and reference, this 1/2 deep, refined square cantle saddle has snug fit panels and layers of comfort in the flaps and jockey skirt. The narrow twist, which is appreciated by female riders, and our special padding, make for a very soft and extremely comfortable seat. Good leg position is ensured by the high pommel and the knee rolls which are padded in super soft leather. The stirrup leather loops are discretely set with black Swarovski crystals. A very elegant saddle. Many people believe that sustainable leather is something from the future, but it s here and it s spectacular. Our new dressage saddle, Serenity, is crafted with full grain leather. The applied tanning agent is made of olive leaves and is ecologically sustainable. Its fragrance reminds you of a late summer s afternoon in the Mediterranean. For more than 120 years, we ve used saddle leathers made from natural vegetable tanning agents. The newly developed wetgreen OBE tanning agent is extracted from the leaves of the olive tree using a method similar to brewing tea, and is made in plants complying to the stringent demands of the food industry. In Europe, around 12,000,000 tons of olives are harvested every year, and leaves account for around 10% of the harvest weight. These leaves are used by wet-green to extract its plant-based active ingredient. The olive leaves used are a by-product for olive growers, and in many locations are actually burned. We use this unwanted by-product and help protect our climate while doing it. Saddles starting at $2495 ICELANDIC SADDLES Portos I & II Icelandic Adventure with the Biomex Seat* This saddle combines the security and connection of our classic Icelandic saddles with the comfort of our Portos saddle. This option is our softest Icelandic and built with our snug panel system making it an economical choice. The Portos II Icelandic is the same model but with a flatter seat. This aptly named saddle has features that make it a unique Icelandic saddle. With a padded and contoured jockey skirt (to be free and clear of accessories), and a substantial block covered and well cushioned front, this two-tone saddle has it all. The Biomex seat and wool flocking are standard equipment. Also features D-rings in the rear, a gusset panel, crupper loop, long billets, and hidden stirrup leather location. Our Icelandic saddles were designed in collaboration with the master trainer Mr. Benedikt G. Lindal, a leading authority on Icelandic horses with more than 35 years of experience. GIRTHS Equi-Soft Girths The Equi-Soft girth, when properly adjusted, effectively deals with constriction by giving in all directions and markedly reducing tension. This frees the underlying musculature, allows better circulation, and decreases the restriction of motion of the gut. As respiration is enhanced and the horse experiences less discomfort, pulse rate has been shown to be reduced during exercise. Since the muscles are less restricted, lateral flexibility is enhanced as well as the horse s ability to employ the external obliques, serratus and other abdominal muscles necessary to support the topline.
