A. Welcome and Quick Facts Welcome to Brooklin High School, Home of the Bears! On behalf of the Bears Athletic Department we would like to welcome you to Brooklin High School. We have developed this guide to assist you with your needs and make your visit positive. Brooklin High School is proud to sponsor 17 teams in our inaugural first year of operation. We are extremely fortunate to have a great facility including Triple Gymnasium, Weight Room, Athletic Track and Fields with outdoor bleacher seating. We are committed to providing a positive game day experience and environment for all visiting teams and spectators and we appreciate your cooperation in achieving this goal. C. Facilities West Main Field: A full size natural turf playing field, fully irrigated for Football, Rugby, and Lacrosse is located on the west side of the property. Cement bleachers are available on the North West corner of the field. Accessibility ramp is available off the South West parking lot. Bears will be using the far North West side of the field as their home base. Visiting teams will be using the North East side for their bench. Athletics Track: A full size red clay track is available around the perimeter of the West Field. The Athletics Track is used for our Phys.Ed classes and training purposes for our Cross Country and Track & Field programs. Gymnasium: We have a Triple Gymnasium with bleacher seating for 400 on our main double court. Our gymnasium will be home to the Bears Volleyball, Basketball and Badminton programs. Weight Room: Our state of the art weight room is available for Bears training only and does host a Fitness Club. We have various stations and fitness equipment available to our students. Bears Practice Patch: There is a quarter size field on the South West side of the field, just south of the main field. This practice field may be used by visiting teams waiting to play Football or Lacrosse. 4
D. Directions and Site Map 1. From the South: Travel north up Baldwin Street/Highway 12 in Whitby/Brooklin through the village of Brooklin and turn left or east on to Carnwith Drive. Brooklin High School is directly on the north side of Carnwith and Baldwin. Use west parking lot entrance. 2. From the North: Travel south on Baldwin Street/Highway 12 in Whitby/Brooklin and turn right or east on to Carnwith Drive. Brooklin High School is directly on the north side of Carnwith and Baldwin. Use west parking lot entrance. 3. From the West: Travel east on Highway 7/Winchester Road to Ashburn Road in Brooklin. Turn left or north on Ashburn Road. Travel north on Ashburn Road to Carnwith Drive and turn right or east. Brooklin High School will be on the left or the north side of Carnwith and Baldwin. Use west parking lot entrance. 4. From the East: Travel west on Highway 7/Winchester Road and turn right or north on Thickson Road in Brooklin. Travel north on Thickson Road to Carnwith Drive and turn left or west. Travel west on Carnwith, crossing Baldwin Street, and Brooklin High School will be on your right or the north side of Carnwith and Baldwin. Use west parking lot entrance. 5
E. Parking 1. School Busses are to use the West Side of the school for drop off and pick up. There is a bus drop off zone on the West side, which is closest to the field and gymnasium. Please do not use the South main entrance to the school for athlete pick up and drop off. Please note there is a ring road around the school so busses can easily travel around the school to exit. 2. Parents and Spectators can use student parking and/or west parking lots. Additional parking can be found on the north side of the school, too. F. OFSAA Spectator Code of Behaviour We expect all spectators to abide by the Ontario Federation School Athletic Association spectator code of behavior: OFSAA CODE OF BEHAVIOUR FOR SPECTATORS o CHEER IN A POSITIVE MANNER o RESPECT OFFICIALS' DECISIONS o DO NOT INTERFERE WITH THE COMPETITION o KEEP OFF THE PLAYING AREA o BE COURTEOUS AND RESPECTFUL Failure to comply with this Code of Behaviour may lead to ejection. 6
G. General Safety Considerations Find below a list of general safety considerations all participants should abide by: 1. Standard school code of conduct rules apply at all sporting events; 2. A visiting team change room will be provided for indoor sporting events; 3. Visiting teams are to use only their assigned change room; 4. Visiting teams are asked to please supervise their team members including ones waiting to play; 5. Please have visiting student athletes remain in the athletic wing in the west side. Visiting student athletes are not to wander through the rest of the facility; 6. Separate washroom facilities are available in the Athletic Wing outside the Phys.Ed office; 7. Please No Food or Drinks allowed in the Gymnasium. 7
