The Prestige range of water softeners complements the range of water pretreatment products and services. Use of water softening minimises the problems caused by hard water scale such as reduced heat transfer and pipe work blockages. The models 500 to 3000 provide a maximum flow rate range of 20 to 60m 3 /hour. Regeneration Control for duplex models is via meter control. Features and Benefits Microprocessor Electronic Controls Quality materials of construction to maximise plant life. 24V operation for safety. Safety Brine Valve to prevent salt tank overflow. Full range of ancillary equipment available for a packaged installation. Equipment, Service and all Water Treatment Equipment needs covered from one point of contact. Minimal control interfaces for straightforward ease of installation. Local and remote status indication available to achieve accountability at all times.
SPECIFICATION The following items shall be supplied as part of each duplex softener. Pressure Vessel One seamless pressure vessel complete with support skirt constructed from composite material. Regeneration Control Valve One SIATA five cycle air/water operated regeneration control valve fabricated from glass filled Noryl is supplied per vessel. Complete with microprocessor electronic control timing and staging motors, an integrated injector, drain line flow controller and separate contact head water meter. Ion Exchange Resin An appropriate quantity of potable quality ion exchange resin. Regeneration Equipment One HDPE salt storage tank complete with brine well, safety brine valve, brine line flow controller and suction line. Electrical Supply: A mains isolator, fused at 5 amps, must be provided to the unit supplying either 110V or 240V, single phase 50Hz AC. A transformer provides 24V to softener control valve and solenoid valve, if fitted. Volt free contacts are available for remote monitoring and control of optional service valve isolator. Water Quality Test Set One test set to ascertain hardness content of treated water. Instructions One set of installation and operating instructions. INSTALLATION The range of softeners is designed with ease of installation in mind. To that end installation of the units should normally be straightforward if the following points are adhered to. Alternatively, PWE can provide a full installation service for all the water treatment plant. Pressure The inlet water pressure to the unit must be between 1.8 and 6.0bar at all times i.e. service and regeneration.
If the minimum pressure cannot be guaranteed, the performance of the softener unit will be impaired and, in particular, the regeneration process will almost certainly not operate efficiently leading to a malfunctioning of the softening procedure. Consideration should also be given to the pressure available at the outlet from the softener, to ensure that this is sufficient to deliver the required duty to service. If low pressure is likely to adversely affect the performance of the softening equipment, a break tank and booster set should be installed. If the maximum pressure is exceeded, damage is likely to occur to the softening equipment. In these circumstances, pressure-reducing equipment should be installed. PWE can supply suitable equipment to overcome any such pressure problems. Positioning The units are free standing and require a solid, level base capable of supporting the full working weight. Ensure the maximum recommended access dimensions are available and consider the salt re-fill requirement. Bulk salt saturators are recommended for the larger softeners. Particular attention must be paid to ensuring that there is a suitable drain, local to the softener, capable of taking the maximum flow from the unit during a regeneration period. Pipe work The installer should run pipe work and drains to and from the softener as detailed in the enclosed schematics. Plastic or copper pipe is preferable. Galvanised pipe should be avoided.
