The game will be broadcasted live on ESPN 3 at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 21 inside Degol Arena. Previously For Both Teams The Blue Devils rallied back and forth LIU Brooklyn in a game that featured nine lead changes to triumph over the Blackbirds, 76-71, to remain perfect against NEC opponents. The Red Flash most recently toppled fellow in-state conference member, Robert Morris, on the road by a 15-point margin, 70-55. Series History (11-26) The Red Flash hold a 26-to-11 advantage in the overall series first meeting during the 1987-88 season. CCSU swept St. Francis during the regular season, first defeating the at home on Jan. 23, 66-51, and then again on Feb. 6 in Loretto, 79-59. The two squads met for the third time in the NEC Quarterfinals on March 6, where SFU prevailed, 83-77, to advance and conclude Central's 2015-16 season. Up Next For CCSU The Blue Devils will conclude their buisness trip to the state of Pennsylvania on Monday, January 23 at Robert Morris when the Colonials host CCSU at 7:00 p.m. at Charles L. Sewall Center. Last Time Out Seniors Giocelis Reynoso and Aleah Epps led the Blue Devils on both ends of the floor in the win. Epps scored a season high 22 points, adding eight rebounds, and six assists. Reynoso scored a career-high 18 points, and grabbed 10 rebounds in her third doubledouble this year. Sophomore Sydney Hines contributed 10 points, and CCSU shot a total 27-of- 29 (93.1%) from the free throw line, that proved to be the difference maker in the game. www.ccsubluedevils.com Twitter Facebook Instagram YouTube @CCSUBlueDevils

Following the Flash Northeast Conference leader in scoring, SFU sophomore Jessica Kovatch, who averages 21.0 ppg, is coming off a 24 point performance, surpassing the 1,000-point milestone. CCSU will have pay close attention to Ace Harrison, who is tallying 14.3 ppg, 9.5 rpg, and is shooting 48.5% from the field in league play. Katie Reese and Halee Adams are all averaging double-figures with 14.3 and 12.3 points, respectively. Lydon Lights It Up Sophomore Andi Lydon is coming off of two hot-shooting performances against The Mount (Jan. 9) and Fairleigh Dickinson (Jan. 14), where she drained 17 and a career high 18 points, respectively. Lydon is converting a stifling average of 60.0% field goals in the past two contests. Making History The Blue Devils' perfect 6-0 conference record marks the best start in women's basketball program history. Central's success is a direct result from a remarkable team effort on the floor. Against NEC opponents, four of the five starters are averaging double-digit scoring, and the team is collectivey out-rebounding its opponent by a 12.3 margin. Non-Conference Wrap Up Through CCSU's 11-game nonconference slate, the team shot 33.2% from the floor, as well as 29.2% from three (4th in the league). The Blue Deils rank third in the NEC in offensive rebounds per game with 12.18. Senior Giocelis Reynoso's 9.0 rebounds per contest is second best in the league, and her 3.55 offensive rebounds per game is a league best. Freshman Cebria Outlow's 84.6% from the free throw line, and 37.0 field goal percentage, places her at fourth in both categories in the NEC individual statistics. Kiana Patterson is tied for second in three-pointers made per game with 2.18. Meet the Central Squad The Blue Devil roster will feature seven returning players for the 2016-17 season. All seven saw game action last year for Central. The squad will also feature four new faces as head coach Beryl Piper and the Blue Devils welcome the freshmen to their famly. The 11 player roster will feature three seniors, a lone junior, three sophomores, and four true freshmen. '16 Seniors Moving On The Blue Devils graduated three seniors from last year s squad: Kayla Miller, Tejahne Malone, and Nicole Ferguson. All three student-athletes were staples in the lineup for the Blue Devils. Malone and Miller ranked second and third in scoring, and first and second in rebounding, respectively. Piper Tops The List Beryl Piper begins her 10th season as the head coach of the CCSU women's basketball program as the winningest Division I coach in the history of the program. Piper's 124 wins are tops during CCSU's Division I era, as is her career winning percentage (.849). 2016-17 Non-Conference Schedule The Blue Devils' 11- game slate in preparation for Northeast Conference play features opponents from the ACC, America East, Atlantic 10, BIG EAST and Ivy League. Central could also potentially face either UT Arlington (Sun Belt) or San Diego State (Mountain West) at the SHU Thanksgiving Classic. The first home game of the season will be against Hartford on Wednesday, Nov. 16. Adding Shannon Central Connecticut women's basketball head coach Beryl Piper has announced the addition of Amanda Shannon to her staff as an assistant coach. Shannon most recently served as the recruiting coordinator at Saint Anselm College and was a 1,000-point scorer at her alma mater, Merrimack College. Shannon at Merrimack Last season, Shannon helped Saint Anselm earn an at-large bid to the Division II NCAA Tournament. The berth marked the Hawks' first NCAA bid since the 1998-99 season. In three seasons at Saint Anselm, Shannon helped the program to 42 wins and helped three Hawks earn Northeast-10 First or Second Team honors and three more earn All-Rookie team recognition. Piper File Head Coach Beryl Piper, now in her 10th season, has posted a 124-146 record at the helm of the Blue Devils. She has also led CCSU to four Northeast Conference Tournament Semifinals (2009, 2010, 2011, 2015) and two WNIT post-season appearances (2009, 2015) in her tenure. Piper's 100th Win Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015th's 63-46 win over Robert Morris marked the 100th career victory for Beryl Piper as the head coach of the Blue Devils. Piper is already CCSU's winningest Division I coach and now joins her former coach Brenda Reilly as the only coaches in program history to reach 100 career wins. Reilly collected 219 wins in her career with 86 coming during CCSU's Division I era. History This is the 31st season for Central Connecticut women s basketball as a NCAA Division I program. The Blue Devils have gone 302-535 in their previous 30 years at the D1 level, which they joined prior to the 1986-87 campaign. Their best season, a 21-7 effort, came in 1989-90. Malone Inks Professional Deal Tejahne Malone recently signed to begin her professional playing with GS Iraklis Thessaconiki in Thessaloniki, Greece. Malone played with the Blue Devils from 2012-16 and finished her career having played in 99 games. She compiled 764 career points (7.7 ppg), 606 rebounds (6.1 rpg) and shooting 48.6 percent from the field. www.ccsubluedevils.com Twitter Facebook Instagram YouTube @CCSUBlueDevils

BERYL PIPER 10th Season, CCSU '87 Central Connecticut State University alumna Beryl Piper returns for her 10th season as the head coach of Blue Devil women s basketball. The 1987 graduate is the winningest women s basketball coach of CCSU s Division I era with 124 career victories. She has also led CCSU to four Northeast Conference Tournament Semifinals (2009, 2010, 2011, 2015) and two WNIT post-season appearances (2009, 2015) in her tenure. Piper enters 2016-17 with a career record of 124-146 over nine seasons. Last season the Blue Devils ended the year without advancing past the NEC quarterfinals, finishing with a record of 12 wins and 18 losses. In Northeast Conference play, Piper coached her Blue Devils to a victory against the NEC's defending champions, Robert Morris on Jan. 25 at home. Under the mentoring of her head coach, senior Tejahne Malone, signed a contract to continue her basketball career professionally overseas in Greece on the GS Iraklis Thessaconiki team. In her ninth season, Piper was given accredidation for coaching two underclassmen, sophomore Camden Musgrave and freshman Kiana Patterson, to reign in NEC honors at the conclusion of the season. Musgrave was named to the All-NEC Third Team and Patterson to the NEC All-Rookie Team. The 2015-16 season marked one of the most successful seasons for Piper and the CCSU women s basketball team. For the first time in program history, Piper led CCSU to a share of the Northeast Conference regular season crown, finishing in a tie for first place on top of the NEC standings with Bryant at 14-4. The 14 wins in NEC regular season play marked the most in program history and Central returned to the NEC Tournament for the fifth time under Piper s watch. After falling to St. Francis Brooklyn in double overtime of the conference semifinal (71-63), CCSU went on to make their second ever post-season appearance, in the Women s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) against Fordham. The Blue Devils finished the year 19-13 overall under Piper s direction, tying the second most wins in a season in program history at the Division I level. Piper s effort also resulted in her first Brenda Reilly Northeast Conference Coach of the Year award in 2015 and she also saw junior TeJahne Malone earn Second Team All-NEC honors and freshman Camden Musgrave was a NEC All-Rookie Team selection. 2015 Brenda Reilly NEC Coach of the Year Five NEC Tournament Appearances (2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015) Four NEC Tournament Semifinals (2009, 2010, 2011, 2015) One First Team All-NEC Selection Four Second Team All-NEC Selections Four NEC All-Rookie Team Selections One NEC All-Defensive Team Selection The Blue Devils missed the post-season in 2013-14, but senior Jessica Babe capped her career by becoming the fourth Blue Devil to earn All- Northeast Conference honors during Piper's tenure. Babe was a Second Team All-NEC and NEC All-Defensive Team selection following her senior season. Babe was also a CoSida Academic All-District First Team selection in 2014. In 2012-13, Piper led the Blue Devils to the NEC Tournament for the fourth time in her career. CCSU tied for fourth in the conference standings and entered the eight-team field as the #5 seed. Following the season, Jaclyn Babe was named First Team All-NEC and was a CoSida Academic All-District First Team selection. Babe became the first player under Piper to earn first team honors from the NEC. The Blue Devils finished the season with 16 victories, the fifth highest season total in CCSU's Division I history. In the 2011-12 season, the fifth under Piper, the Blue Devils finished 13-16. The 13 wins marked the fourth consecutive double-digit victory season for the Blue Devils and helped the team to the best four-year record in program history. During the season, junior Jaclyn Babe scored 446 points and earned second team All-NEC honors. Her classmate, Kirsten Daamen, became the Blue Devils' career leader in blocked shots and by seasons end she had run her total to 140 blocks. Piper led the Blue Devils to 19 wins in 2010-11, which was the highest win-total for the program since joining the Northeast Conference for the 1997-98 season. Piper also led her team to 11 conference victories and the third NEC Tournament victory of her career. By reaching the NEC Tournament, the Blue Devils set a new program best by making the postseason three straight years. The Blue Devils won 12 games in 2009-10, including eight conference games and earned the sixth seed in the Northeast Conference Tournament. It was the Blue Devils second consecutive NEC Tournament berth. Piper's squad upset third seeded Sacred Heart 63-51 to advance to the semifinals before falling to Long Island University 61-55. Central's back-to-back tournament berths were the first since 2004-05 and 2005-06. LIU Brooklyn Recap 1.17.17 The Central Connecticut women's basketball team defeated LIU Brooklyn, 76-71, on Monday inside Steinberg Wellness Center in Brooklyn, NY. Seniors Giocelis Reynoso and Aleah Epps led the Blue Devils on both ends of the floor in the win. Epps scored a season high 22 points, adding eight rebounds, and six assists. Reynoso scored a career-high 18 points, and grabbed 10 rebounds in her third double-double this year. In the first 10 minutes of action, the two squads traded baskets resulting in five lead changes, and LIU leading 19-17 heading into the second quarter. LIU's leading scorer, Shanovia Dove, tallied 11 points, and the Blackbirds came out firing shooting 46.7% on 7-of-15 shooting. Senior Aleah Epps racked in four assists, and CCSU did not turn the ball over in the period. Long Island's Gabrielle Caponegro looked to have made the last basket before the half with.07 on the clock, but Epps threw a pass up ahead to Blue Devil sophomore, Kiana Patterson who drained a three at the last second to cut the Blackbird deficit to 33-31. Veterans Reynoso and Epps started a 8-2 run with a lay-in and three pointer in the opening 35 seconds of the third. Central made 9-of-11 foul shots, to build a 52-48 lead with two minutes to go in the quarter. The fourth period was quiet to start, with Long Island hitting two three pointers, including Brianna Farris's fifth of the game to tie up the score at 62-62 at 6:23. With 2:15 left in the game Epps dove on a loose ball, getting fouled in the process, only to sink both free throws, and to nail a jumper on the next Blue Devil possession to put CCSU up by three with 1:22 to go. Central forced a tough three-pointer on LIU's final chance, and Lydon closed out the victory with another set of foul shots to bring CCSU's total to a perfect 12-for-12 in the fourth. The Blue Devil attack was too much for LIU, despite its hot-shooting day of 25-for-59 (42.4%) from the floor, including 10-for-16 (62.5%) from three-point land. Dove finished with 27 points and 11 rebounds, and Farris added 15 points for LIU. Sophomore Sydney Hines contributed 10 points, and CCSU shot a total 27-of-29 (93.1%) from the free throw line, that proved to be the difference maker in the game.
