LN Student-Athletes of the Week LN Girls Basketball Team and Tony Perkins, Basketball In the span of 5 days last week, the LN girls basketball team won the IHSAA Sectional and Regional Championships! Key contributions were made by everyone in order to take home these titles and Get that Bread! This team has also produced an average GPA of 3.7 in the classroom. Outstanding young ladies on and off the court! Perkins, a junior, had a fantastic game in the win over Ben Davis. An honor roll student, Tony put up 20 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and made the game winning shot at the buzzer to knock off the Giants, 55-53. Great job, Wildcats! Cheerleading:

The LN cheerleaders had a very busy and successful week! The team traveled to Ben Davis to cheer on the boys to victory over Ben Davis on Friday night, then split the squad on Saturday. The Cats hosted a cheer clinic for elementary Future Wildcats and supported the girls basketball team as they won the Regional championship at Decatur Central. Additionally, we had all six seniors submit their applications for the IASP Academic All-State cheerleading team. Seniors Kennedy Barlow, Madison Ivory, Nia Jameson, Terrianna Lyles, Eryn Johnson, and Destiny Williams have an average GPA of 3.96! We are very proud of them. Great job, ladies! The Cats had an opportunity to see Coach Keefer get recognized by the Indiana Pacers on Thursday before the BD game. Coach was recognized alongside two other Hall of Fame coaches, JR Holmes and Donna Cheatham. A framed Hickory uniform was presented at halftime honoring their long and successful careers in Indiana high school basketball. The team had a great time, and the Pacers beat the L.A. Clippers to cap off a fantastic evening. The next night, the Wildcats (12-6, 3-3 MIC) defeated Ben Davis 55-53 on a last second put back bucket by Tony Perkins, knocking off the Giants on a last second buzzer beater for the second year in a row! Perkins had a fantastic game with 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. The Wildcats will travel to MIC rival Pike (13-7, 3-2 MIC) on Friday night and then will host Ft. Wayne South (9-6) on Saturday afternoon, with the JV starting at 4:00pm and the varsity to follow around 5:45pm. Pictures by Mr. Penrose, Jan Keefer, and Gary Christie.

Girls Basketball: Wow, what a week for LNGBB! The Wildcats (21-6) won not one IHSAA tournament, but two IHSAA tournaments! On Monday, the team knocked off Heritage Christian 55-50 to capture the Sectional title. On Saturday, the team beat Mooresville 42-22 in game one, and then took down MIC rival Ben Davis 60-46 to take the Regional championship! Now in the Final Four, they are headed to the Jeffersonville Semi- State to take on the Castle Knights (23-4), with a berth to the IHSAA State championship game at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on the line! On Friday night, she set a new LN school record with a time of :56.42 to qualify for Saturday, where she moved up two places from her preliminary swim to finish 11 th in the state! Great job, Brooke, and best wishes as you continue your academic and swimming career at Xavier University! The boys swimming & diving team will host the IHSAA Sectional on Thursday and Saturday this week. The Wildcats (8-0) look to win their 4 th Sectional title in school history this week, and hopefully accomplish what no other team has ever done at Lawrence North; win the Marion County title, Sectional title, and have an undefeated dual meet record in the same year! Good luck, boys! Go get that hardware!! Pictures by Mr. Penrose and Matt Vail.

Wrestling: Three wrestlers represented LN at the New Castle Semi-State on Saturday. 106 pounder Logan Carrender won his first round match by pin but lost in the ticket round, just one step shy of a state finals trip. 113 pounder Anthony Hughes also won his first round match by pin but lost a controversial match in the ticket round, 7-6. 138 pound senior Deacon Pettiford had a great season, finishing his year in the first round. Great job, wrestlers! Pictures by Mr. Penrose and Coach Stewart.

College Signing Celebration Fifteen student-athletes have made their college choice over the last few weeks, and we celebrated on Wednesday morning. Including the 5 others we recognized earlier this year, these 20 student-athletes have an average GPA of 3.805.
