SIGNATURE FORM The following must be signed by ALL COMPETITORS. Your Entry will be considered invalid without all necessary signatures and dates. I hereby certify that every horse, rider and/or driver is eligible as entered and agree for myself and my representatives to be bound by the Constitution and Rules of Equine Canada and the Alberta Equestrian Federation at this competition. It is hereby recognized that all equestrian sports involve inherent risk and that no helmet or protective equipment can protect against all foreseeable injury. I hereby accept this risk and hold harmless EC, AEF, the competition, their officials, organizers, agents, employees, and their representatives. In the event that participates in an Equine Canada or Alberta Equestrian Federation sanctioned competition where protective headgear is required for juniors, he/she will wear properly fitted and fastened approved headgear at all times while riding or driving at the event location. GENERAL INFORMATION The High Thorn Equestrian Winter Series are sanctioned as Alberta Wild Rose Competitions. Alberta Equestrian Federation (AEF) Wild Rose-sanctioned competitions are to be run in accordance with the AEF Wild Rose Rules. An AEF membership is required to show in the Wild Rose Show and can be purchased through AEF www.albertaequestrian.com. All riders require an AEF membership and must sign a High Thorn Equestrian Waiver before riding. 4. A current (within 6 months) Negative Coggins for EIA will be required for all horses coming on the property as of January 1 st 2018. We appreciate you providing a current test for our 2017 shows. 5. No judge shall be approached regarding any decision. Penalty may be disqualification from the show. 6. Any horse entered in any class, while on the competition grounds, may be selected for equine medication control testing. (A603.5)
7. A horse may compete in two consecutive jumper divisions or dressage levels up to a maximum of four tests per day. 8. All dressage tests will be scheduled in a 20x60 dressage arena. 9. Every class offered is covered by the rules and specifications of the current rules of EC and AEF and will be held and judged in accordance with the EC Rule Book. 10. All athletes, regardless of age or level of competition, must wear properly fitted and fastened safety approved protective headgear when mounted. 11. 1 st to 4 th place ribbons will be awarded for Jumper Classes. 12. Ribbons for dressage tests will be awarded in accordance with the following chart of percentages: 3 1 st - 60% or higher rd - 54% to 56.9% 4 2 nd - 57% to 59.9% th - 51% to 53.9% 13. There is ample room for trailer parking and tying to trailers. Be sure your trailer is properly grounded so it is not affected by the overhead power lines. 14. Horses not stabled on the grounds may haul-in on Saturday and school in the show rings. The haulin fee of $20.00 will be charged on Saturday and will be applied to your show entries on Sunday. 15. High Thorn Equestrian strives to provide an excellent showing environment. An integral part of an excellent show includes healthy horses. Exhibitors can contribute to that healthy environment by following these basic recommendations: Vaccinate your horse as per recommendations of your veterinarian Do not bring horses that have shown symptoms of Equine Influenza, Equine Herpes, strangles or any other infectious disease within the past 28 days Check your horse s temperature for 3 days before and following an event (a horse s normal temperature at rest is between 37 and 38.5 degrees Celsius) Please do not bring horses with elevated temperatures Any horse on the show grounds with a fever must be reported to the show office Minimize co-mingling of horses from different stables Jumper Class Rules Optimum Time the Optimum Time will be posted on the course map. The rider with the time on course closest to the posted optimum time (over or under) will win the class. Table A with Jump Off faults will be accumulated on the first round. Riders in the 1 st place position with equal faults will ride a second Jump Off Round. Placings will be determined by faults and fastest time. Accumulator - Points will be awarded a you clear fences in the order of the posted course (eg. Fence 1 1 point, Fence 2 2 points). The last fence will have two options, one worth more points than the other.
