Etiquette 1. No one should move, talk or stand close to or directly behind the ball or the hole when a player is addressing the ball or making a stroke. 2. The player who has the honour should be allowed to play his ball before his opponent and fellow competitor tees his ball. 3. No Player should play until the players in front are out of range. 4. In the interest of all, players should play without delay. 5. Players searching for a lost ball should allow other players coming up to pass them, they should signal to the players following them to pass and should not continue the game until those players are passed and out of range. 6. Before leaving a bunker, a player should fill up all holes made by him there. Rake to be left in the bunker. If not delaying the following group, on each green one player should smooth out surface irregularities, especially around the hole, before leaving. 7. Through the Green a player should ensure that any playing surface he displaces is repaired immediately. Divots or turf may be replaced and pressed down, the edges of holes, broken in and smoothed, or otherwise repaired. Do not delay. 8. Players should not drop bags or flags sticks and ensure no damage is done to the putting surface, and that neither they nor their caddies damage the hole by standing too close. The flag stick should be properly replaced so that it is upright and the entrance to the hole unobstructed. 9. When the play of a hole has been completed, players should immediately leave the putting green as mentioned in item 6.

General Conditions of Play MARKING OF CARDS Player with the honour marks after playing from next tee. RETURNING CARDS AFTER PLAY Members are reminded that cards must be signed and returned to the Match Committee on the completion of round. LOSS OF POSITION If players fail to keep their places in the field, and they lose one clear hole behind those immediately preceding them, the players following have the right to go through. The players at fault must therefore:- (1) Make up the lost ground without delay or (2) Call those following to go through. If they fail to do this the players following must immediately indicate that they are expressing their right to go through. Players should not be concerned with the position of the match following, but at all times keep up with the proceeding match. DRESS From the opening day to the closing day of the winter golf season the minimum standard acceptable in the club house is a collared shirt, long trouser, shoes and socks. During summer a modest rather than beach style dress is still required in the club house. Practise - The complete links of this golf club is available as a practise area to members and associates but not on a TROPHY DAY OR OPEN DAY. Visitors - Visiting players must be a member of affiliated clubs and play no more than 6 times during the year. It shall be the responsibility of each member introducing a visitor to the club that the prescribed green

fee has been paid. Further information regarding visitors and honorary members can be obtained from the Secretary. A brief history of the Club. The club was formed and located as a more or less 9 hole course on Island Farm. Situated between Cemetery Road and the Avon River. Island farm is now owned by the Northam Gun Club. In 1918 the club shifted to Dunnard the current site of the Northam Trotting Ground and again a 9 hole course was laid out. In 1947 a committee was formed to investigate the purchase of a property suitable for an 18 hole course and subsequently bought the freehold of Springfield in 1948. The club shifted to Springfield during the summer of 1948 and 1949 was the first playing season on our present location. On Friday, 25 th October, 1985 at the Annual General Meeting of the Golf Club the name changed to the Northam Country Club. The reason for the change in the long term was so that several different sports could be catered for in one complex. Notes of Competition 2013 Club Championships will be played over 3 x 18 hole stoke rounds. 1 st Round - Saturday 12 July 2 nd Round - Sunday 13 July 3 rd Round - Saturday 19 July The best combined gross score will win the championship. A Grade - 0-12 Handicap B Grade - 13-18 Handicap C Grade - 19-36 Handicap Mixed Foursomes Championships open 27 holes Sunday June 29 - Gross Winners sponsored by Purslowe Tinnetti Funeral Homes.

THE KENNEDY CUP is the Clubs major OPEN EVENT and was inaugurated in 1929. It is named after Mr Neil Kennedy, an early member of the club. It traditionally attracts our largest fields, about 120. Sweepstakes and trophies include winner, runner up, best sat, best sun and Gross score. THE COROLIN CUP is the clubs major CLOSED EVENT and was inaugurated in 1926 and presented to the club by Mr S.R Dempster. The Cup was named after the Dempster property Caroline Farm, situated near Mokine. In recent years Mr Dempsters family have provided winners and runners up trophies for the event. THE GILLETT PUTTER belonged to Mr W.J Gillett, the Club first Life Member and President from 1924 to 1948. It was presented on his retirement from the game and first played for in 1951. His son Merv, continues the association of the family name with the Northam Country Club by presenting an iron of the winner s choice as the annual trophy. Since his death in 1975 the Club has carried on this tradition. For several years a veteran event for players over 50 has been held in conjunction with the main event. The trophy for this season is presented in memory of a Life Member, Mr Keith Sermon - Donated by R & M Sermon. THE SPRINGFIELD CUP was inaugurated in 1962. The event serves a very useful purpose by providing a Major Event early in our golfing year. In 1970 this event became a 36 hole competition. THE TRADERS TROPHY (36 Hole Event) Originally known as the Northam Traders Event, was inaugurated in 1963. It is the Clubs only 36 hole Open event on a Saturday and affords visitors.

GROSS TROPHY will be presented to the Best Gross Score during all the Club events. The Trophy is sponsored by Lewis Motors Holden. MOST CONSISTENT PLAYER Trophy donated by Northam Golf Club. Introduced in 1984 and is received on all Saturdays singles events. Players receive 1 to 6 points if they finish in the first 6 places of the day. SUMMER COMPETITION The Club conducts a 9 hole competition on Saturday and Sunday afternoons during the summer months. The competition is open to all playing categories of memberships. In 1973 the FT Kings Cup was inaugurated in the memory of this long standing member, whose interest in organising summer Golf was largely responsible for the success of the competition. Play is over two nine hole stroke rounds late in the season, the Cup was donated by Life Member, the late Mr W.G. Errington. ECLECTIC COMPETITION Will be held on all Saturday events between the Springfield Cup and the Kennedy Cup as well as those Sunday events that form the 2 nd playing day of a multi-day event during the season. EAGLES NEST During the winter competition two golf balls are added weekly to the Eagles Nest and during the summer competition one golf ball is added. The Eagles Nest can only be won by a financial member at any club event, excluding scroungers.

New Members It is the responsibility of the sponsors of any newly elected member to see that he/she is introduced to the members of the committee and to the other members, that he/she is informed of all the rules governing conduct of the Club, and, above all, that he/she is sufficiently advanced in the knowledge of the rules of golf to be competent to perform the duty of marker to a fellow competitor.
