Time seems to be flying by and before you know it, we will be on the slopes carving up our favorite trails. So make sure you have your equipment tuned up and be ready for some action. October was a great month, starting off with a fun-filled weekend in Wildwood. There was lots of food, music, dancing, and fun to be had by all. Thanks to Eric Confer and Stan Miller for doing another spectacular job. October 8th and 9th were the Pennsylvania Ski and Winter Sports Museum Hall of Fame expo and induction ceremony. I had the honor of representing the Flying Dutchmen Ski Club as one of the expo exhibitors. We had a table set up with Dutchmen memorabilia and information about the club. Friday night there were cocktails, Hors D oeuvres, a Chinese auction, and an introduction and roast of the 2010 Hall of Fame Inductees. On Saturday the festivities continued with a luncheon and Induction of the nominees into the Pennsylvania Hall of Fame. This year s inductee s were Tom Beach, Bob Danzeisen, Ken Gable, Ed Hirshman, Douglas Howlett, and Bill Stenger. It was a great experience to be part of this event to honor those individuals who have given so much to the sport. If you would like to find out more about the Pennsylvania Ski and Winter Sports Museum and Hall of Fame, information can be found on line at: www.paskimuseum.org. November kicks off with our annual Winter Sports Night on Thursday the 4th. This event takes place at the Riveredge and takes the place of our normal meeting at the Liederkranz.
