GENERAL TOURNAMENT INFORMATION: Oceanside Atom Recreational Hockey Tournament Rules March 17-19, 2015 Oceanside Place, 830 Island Highway W Parksville, BC We are hosting a tournament that we hope will be fun for all. All games will be played as per BC HOCKEY rules. This includes Vancouver Island Amateur Hockey Association and any other rules imposed by the host association. GAME TIMING: The ten participating teams will be separated into two pools of five. Each team will play the other four teams in their pool. Teams with the most points in each pool will advance to the finals. First place in each pool will advance to the Gold/Silver game. Second place in each pool will advance to the Bronze and 4 th place game. Individual trophies or medals will be awarded to 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd, and 4 th place finishers. 1 hour and 30 minutes including: 5-minute Warm-Up begins when referees give permission 1 st period - 15 minutes stop time; 2 nd period - 15 minutes stop time; 3 rd period - 20 minutes stop time with 5 minute handshake and awards Each game ends with 5 minutes remaining in the designated ice slot, regardless of the time remaining on the game clock. WALL CLOCK OVERRIDES THE GAME CLOCK. GAME POINTS: 2 points for a win 1 point for a tie 1 point for each period win ½ point per team in the event of a tie 1 point for 4 minutes or less in penalties Maximum of 6 points will be awarded to a team per game TIE-BREAKING RULES: In the event that two teams in the same pool are tied in total points, after the completion of the four games, the order of finish will be determined by: 1. Winner of head to head match-up, then (if necessary) 2. Most periods won, then (if necessary) 3. Fewest penalty minutes, then (if necessary) 4. Goal differential (goals for, minus goals against) If a PLAYOFF game is tied after regulation play, the winner will be determined in a 5 minute, 4 on 4 sudden death period, followed by a 5-player shoot-out (if necessary). If still tied, each team will select 5 different players for a sudden death shootout with shooters alternating until the tie is broken. Shooters cannot shoot twice.

GAME SHEETS: The tournament committee will prepare game sheets ahead of time. Home team; please pick up the game sheet at the raffle table for verification and then pass along to your opponent to be finally given to the scorekeepers. Coaches or managers will be required to verify their team rosters 15 minutes before each game. Please ensure that names and jersey numbers of all players are recorded correctly. In order to alleviate any potential negative interaction between referees and team officials, the president of OMHA (Oceanside Minor Hockey Association) asks that no team official is to enter the referee s change room at any time! After the game, a tournament committee member will retrieve the game sheet copies from the ref room. Coaches or Team Mangers can pick up their copy of the game sheet at the raffle table. JERSEYS: In the event of a colour conflict, the team designated as the Home team as assigned on the tournament schedule will be required to change jerseys. Home team is the first team listed on the schedule. If required, OMHA has a supply of conflict jerseys at the raffle table. As per BC Hockey regulations, STOP Signs must be worn by all participants, above the number on the backs of their jerseys. SPORTSMANSHIP AND CONDUCT: Team Officials will be held responsible for their conduct, as well as the conduct of their players and parents on and off the ice, which includes the arena facilities and parking lot areas. Team Officials are responsible for ensuring that all Players on their Roster are aware of the rules governing this tournament, as follows: 3 penalties in one game Remainder of Game 1st Misconduct 10 minutes 2nd Misconduct Tournament Suspension 1st Game Misconduct Remainder of Game If a Game Misconduct is in the last 10 minutes of the game, the player will be suspended for the following game, as well. 2nd Game Misconduct (player or team official) Tournament Suspension 1st Match Tournament Suspension 5 minute Major for fighting Tournament Suspension As always, parents, spectators and off-ice supporters are encouraged to use positive feedback to players and avoid open criticisms of play and officiating. All team-officials, players and parents must understand that our on-ice officials are BC HOCKEY certified, experienced, skilled and capable. In the spirit of fun and fair play, we are expecting that our officials will be treated with respect. NO abuse of any kind (for any reason) will be tolerated, on or off the ice.

CONFLICT RESOLUTION: CHANGE ROOMS: Emotions can run high in competitions and despite our best efforts there may be frustrations for visiting players, coaches, and families. If there is a concern, we request that only the coach submit written documentation of the specific issue to the raffle table. The Tournament Committee will make every effort to resolve issues immediately. Decisions made by tournament coordinators are final. We have two rinks housed in Oceanside Place. The change room schedule is posted on the white board around the corner from the arena office. Teams are responsible for the security of their dressing rooms and players MUST be supervised at all times. A padlock should be brought to secure your change room door, as we are not responsible for lost or stolen articles. Please do NOT lock your gear in a room and leave the premises, as others will need to make use of your dressing room. Thank you for your consideration. All teams are responsible for ensuring that the change rooms are left in a clean condition upon departure keep food out of the change rooms and ensure to use garbage cans. For damaged or unreasonably messy change rooms, Oceanside Place management will levy a financial penalty against the team (not Oceanside Minor Hockey Association). The cost to repair any damages whatsoever caused by team officials, players or parents will be billed to the team and/or association found responsible for such damage. If no damage is noted, then your team s damage deposit cheque will be destroyed (two weeks after the jamboree date), unless your team advises us otherwise. DONUT DRILL: A donut drill shoot-out will follow the first game for every team. After these games, the referees will place 5 pucks on each blue line. Teams will line up on their respective benches and the clock will be set for 5 min. On the referee s whistle, the first player in line from each team will come off the bench, skate to their blue line and shoot to score against the opposing team s goalie. If they don t score, they have to retrieve the loose puck and pass it to the next player who is ready on the blue line and waiting to take their turn. The winner is the first team to put all of the 5 pucks in the net. Or after 5 minutes, the team with the most pucks in the net wins the donuts. Shooters get one shot attempt and then go to the back of their line. Some teams will go through their whole line-up while others may only go through 5 or 6 shooters. In the event of a tie, a coin toss will determine the winner. Since the Donut Drill uses 5 minutes of ice time, coaches may be required to distribute the game MVP awards after leaving the ice.

MVP AWARDS: For each game, team officials are asked to choose the most valuable player for their own team. We ask that players be picked only once per the tournament, so that different players can go home with an award. When choosing your team s MVP, please consider players that show sportsmanship, skill and game spirit. Please record your choice on the form provided in the MVP duo-tang included in your Welcome package and return it to the scorekeepers by the end of the game. After the handshake at game s end, please line up your team near centre ice for the MVP presentation. FOOD and GIFTS: Tournament keepsake gifts will be offered. There is a concession in the Oceanside Place arena to serve fans and players from both of the ice rinks (Meeker and Kraatz). In the lobby area, there will be a snack table for players to help themselves. RAFFLE TABLE AND 50/50 SALES: At each game, 50/50 squares will be sold (1 for $2.00) with half of the proceeds going to the winners. In the lobby, there will be a raffle table with numerous prizes available. The Raffle Prize Draw takes place on March 19, 2015. We look forward to seeing all of the players, parents, relatives and friends at our tournament. We hope that everyone enjoys some fast and exciting hockey. THANK YOU FOR ENTERING OUR TOURNAMENT! GOOD LUCK GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP, GOOD FUN!
