With yesterday s setback, the Cubs have been 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4 and now 5-5 this season Chicago tonight aims to get back over.500 for the fourth time this year (1-0, 2-1 and 5-4). This is the first time the Cubs have started a campaign at 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4 and 5-5 since 2011 that 2011 team also went 6-6, 7-7, 8-8, 9-9 and 10-10 to set a big league record for consecutive stops at the.500 mark to begin a campaign. Following this three-game set against Pittsburgh, the team s first homestand continues with three games against the Braves (starting Friday) followed by three games against the Cardinals (beginning Monday). NIGHT TIME IS THE RIGHT TIME: The Cubs enter their 31st season playing under the lights at Wrigley Field since lighting was erected for evening play in August of 1988 all told, the Cubs are 365-321 (.532) in Wrigley Field night games. Cubs relievers have a.483 opponent OPS, tops among major league bullpens, and posted a.174 opponent batting average (26-for- 149), second-lowest in the majors (San Diego is first,.171) The bullpen opened this year with a 15.2-scoreless innings streak through the 16th inning of March 30 s contest that is the longest scoreless innings streak by the Cubs bullpen to begin a campaign since 1990, when the relief corps strung together 20.0-scoreless thanks to Elias Sports Bureau.
