LONDON TO BRIGHTON CYCLE 2018 Information Pack

Join our team and use your pedal power to support us in the annual London to Brighton Cycle! 16th September 2018 Record numbers are set to leave the buzz of the capital city behind as they face the challenge of tackling 54 miles on two wheels in their bid to raise funds for their chosen charity! Join over 4,000 cyclists and embark on this flagship challenge taking you from London s Clapham Common, through Surrey s beautiful country lanes and stunning Sussex scenery, facing the steep ascent of Ditchling Beacon before being rewarding with breathtaking views of the South Downs. From here, you will be soaring downhill for those last few miles towards the Brighton seafront. Your epic challenge will come to an end as you race through the flag-lined finish to the cheers of spectators and the chance to put your bikes aside and enjoy some well-deserved celebrations in the London to Brighton event village by the sea. This is a beautiful and rewarding journey which makes the ideal challenge for any keen cyclist! Whether you are an experienced rider or taking on your first cycling challenge, completing the event should be within your capabilities, as long as you are willing to put in some training first! With our training and fitness advice we expect you will be saddle-ready in no time at all. The spirit of the event is 'taking part' not 'winning' so you can go as fast or as slow as you like. Post-cycle you will be able to enjoy our L2B Event Village with delicious food stalls, bar, yoga area, merchandise stall, charity tents and more - giving your spectators plenty to keep them entertained on the day and a fantastic setting to celebrate your cycle success! Cycle Requirements Upon signing up to the London to Brighton Cycle you are pledging to hit your set fundraising target of 150 - we can give you plenty of tips and ideas to help you reach your goal! You are required to pay a 40 non-refundable registration fee upon booking (this is the special early bird rate until January 1st.) Beginners are welcome on this ride but we do recommend plenty of training before the challenge - we are on hand with our fitness and training advice so you will be cycle ready in no time!

When and Where? The Do it for Charity London to Brighton Cycle will take place on Sunday 16th September 2018 starting from Clapham Common, London, and finishing in Madeira Drive, Brighton. Registration will open from 06:30 to 09:30am, further details will be sent to you nearer to the event with everything you need to know about the big day! What s Included? A delicious buffet lunch so you can refuel before completing your challenge! Ride number and information pack sent prior to the day Mechanical support and crew, so no need for any puncture panic! You will automatically be set up with a Do it for Charity London to Brighton fundraising page when you sign up so you can get started right away Event Facebook page, so you can interact with fellow cyclists before and after the event Optional return transport back to London Water stops en route Medical support Training guidance Fundraising support Full route signage so we don t have any cyclists getting lost! Dedicated events team who are on hand with advice Lots of delicious food, drink and entertainment in our L2B event village A medal when you race through the finish line!

FAQ s How fit do I need to be? These challenges are perfectly achievable for people who are taking on their first big cycling event! Don t forget, this is not a race and you can take the ride at your own pace. In order to maximise your enjoyment we do recommend you do some training. We will be able to offer you plenty of fitness and training advice and you can also download a guide from the London to Brighton website! What kit will I need? We recommend you have a well-serviced bike it doesn't need to be carbon framed or anything special but it should be comfortable and well maintained. As well as your bike it is essential you have a helmet. It's up to you whether you carry a bag with you but we recommend this is fixed to your bike (search for 'bike panniers' online) rather than worn on your back which can become very tiring. Is there an age restriction? You will need to be 16 or over but there is no upper age limit. However all participants of whatever age should ensure they are fit enough to take part in the event. If you are in any doubt please check with your doctor. How will I raise the sponsorship? Fundraising is certainly achievable if you put your mind to it and needn t be daunting - the important thing is to let everyone know about the great cause you are fundraising for and to enjoy yourself! With a bit of creativity, energy and determination you will easily be able to reach your fundraising target. Here are some ideas to start you off and we re more than happy to help with any questions you may have! Begin by setting up an online donation page and ask everyone you know to donate the more people you ask, the more you will raise! Host a dinner night/coffee morning and charge guests for a delicious home cooked meal or tea and cake. Host your own pub quiz or bingo night. Dig out your unwanted treasures and organise a car boot or jumble sale. Organise a games night and invite friends over, charging for an evening of fun and games! Leave collection boxes in your local pub or shop or organise a bag pack at your local supermarket. If you need some more inspiration then do get in touch for a full fundraising guide!

We look forward to welcoming you to the London to Brighton team! Find out more:
