Minutes of the GASC Meeting: GASC Meeting Minutes Feb 21, 2012 In attendance: Hugh and MaryAnn McWilliams, Sue Wilson, Lynn Kraut, Robin Reasoner, Kristi Shaw, Beth Hemmer, Becky Androff, Karen Kunz, Flo McDaniel, Diane Bettis, Diane Brueckmann, Jane Moore, Barb Wielms, Greg Jones, Vicki Wehrle The meeting was called to order by President Kristi Shaw at 7:10pm. There were no minutes as the last meeting was held in conjunction with the Christmas Party. New Board/Officers were read at that time. Treasurer Diane DeVoto was ill and thus we did not have a Treasurer s Report. Affiliate Representative Beth Hemmer reported that all our annual reports for ASCA were filed on time and we are renewed as an ASCA club for another year. SHOW N GO: Diane Bettis reported we grossed approximately $986.00 and our expenses were approximately $700.00 so we reaped a small profit. FEBRUARY CHILL CHASER: Diane Bettis reported on our February 4 & 5, 2012 Show. There was miscommunication in assigning tasks, thus we had some disorganization that we need to address and make sure it does not happen for our big August Event. We do not have a treasurer s report to know if we made a profit, but we addressed some things that we can correct. We need to assist Judith Walker, our Obedience/Rally Show Secretary to let her know what types of information we need her to track. Diane Bettis will make a spreadsheet where she can fill in the blanks that we need for our record keeping. Lynn Kraut was given the show results for Conformation and will have them made up and put in the March/April Newsletter. The Raffle brought in $630.00 largely due to the beautiful bench that was donated by Connie Mechlin. HERDING TRIAL: Diane Bettis reported that we have openings in all the runs for all the stock right now. She sent out an email to many of the herding exhibitors letting them know this and has since gotten in more entries. She said she is looking pretty good for workers, but if you would like to volunteer, email Diane and let her know when you can be there. AUGUST SHOW: August 17-19, 2012 is the date for the BIG Event we are going to offer again this year. It starts on Friday and goes through Sunday. Diane Bettis and Becky Androff will be in charge of gaining workers for the 3 day event. Diane explained the breakdown of what the Event Center will cost us. It breaks down to $1,000.00 per day or $3,000.00 for the weekend. 3

Mary Ann will also begin training Karen Kunz on this process as a back-up and when Mary Ann retires. Mary Ann does the actual hiring of the judges as well as figuring out any flights, motel accommodations, judges contracts, etc. that is involved. Herding Nights: Robin Reasoner reported that they will begin again in May and go through September 2012. More information will be coming closer to the time. The Birthday girls at our February Trial Our annual February Trial/Show always falls on some of the members birthday. This year our dear friend from Minnesota, Martha Gisselbeck came and it was her birthday too. She had a darling Aussie Birthday Cake made and brought it all the way from MN! Thank you Martha for your continued support of GASC and for bringing the delicious birthday cake and helping Vicki and I celebrate our birthdays. Photo credit: ASCA Breeder-Judge Kym Base. Thanks Kym! Aussie Birthday Cake! The Birthday girls! Flo McDaniel, Martha Gisselbeck, Vicki Wehrle 5

Tinley Dexter Herding Clinic The Herding Clinic was held March 8-9th of March. The weather cooperated nicely the day I went out there. That was Friday the 9th of March. There was a good group of people there partaking of the information that Tinley was giving them. It looked to me like people were very pleased with their dogs and the clinic. I took a few photos to share with the members. The clinic was at the herding field at Purina Farms. Ken and Mary Ruth s Border Collie taking the cattle through the course. Diane DeVoto and her Aussie, Spur contemplating their next sheep move. Diane Bettis and her Aussie, Ziva getting a close up smell of one of Purina farms new baby lambs. 6
