H Richmond finished fourth in the Atlantic 10 in 2007-08, tying its best finish in seven seasons as a member of the conference. H In its seven seasons in the Atlantic 10, the Spiders have reached the A-10 Tournament semifinals twice and the championship game once. H The Richmond basketball program boasts a proud tradition, especially in the last 27 years during which the Spiders have a dozen 20-win seasons and 15 postseason appearances, including seven NCAA bids.

national exposure t h i s i s r i c h m o nd BASketba ll H The Spiders have had 51 games televised over the last five seasons, appearing on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU. This season Richmond will play at Syracuse on ESPN and host back-to-back home games on ESPNU against Wake Forest and VCU. H The Spiders play in the Atlantic 10, which has received multiple bids to the NCAA Tournament in 23 of the last 27 years. H The A-10 has had five NCAA bids in the same year twice and four bids three times, including 2004 with Richmond as one of the at-large selections. H Last season the Atlantic 10 had three teams make the NCAA Tournament and eight teams play in the postseason with four NIT participants and Richmond playing in the inaugural College Basketball Invitational. H The Atlantic 10 had three teams ranked in the Top-25 in the same week last season. H Richmond defeated No. 16 ranked Dayton 80-63 in the Robins Center on Jan. 26, 2008. H The Atlantic 10 has had three National Players of the Year since 1996, the secondhighest total among Division I conferences in that span. The A-10 has had eight First- Team All-Americans and 23 All-American selections. H In the last 21 years, the Atlantic 10 has had one team reach the Final Four, three different programs ranked No. 1 in the nation, 11 teams reach the Elite 8 (including two in 2004), and 15 Sweet 16 appearances. H The Atlantic 10 has had at least three teams in postseason play in 29 of the conference s 31 years and has had at least four teams make the postseason in 17 of the last 19 years.

Tony Dobbins Former Spider standout Tony Dobbins, who led Richmond to the 2004 NCAA Tournament, is in his sixth season of pro ball. He won a championship in the National Basketball Development League in 2004-05 and has played three years in France s First Division and one year in Italy s First Division. 2008-09 University of Richmond Basketball Spiders in Curtis Blair, who led the Spiders to the 1991 NCAA Tournament win over Syracuse, was drafted in the second round by the Houston Rockets in 1992. He is currently in his first season as a referee in the NBA. Pros the Former Richmond standout Kevin Eastman (right) is an assistant coach with the Celtics, helping Boston to the 2008 NBA World Championship. 8
Johnny Newman One of Richmond s all-time greats, Johnny Newman was the 29th overall pick in the 1986 NBA Draft and enjoyed a 17-year career in the NBA. t h i s i s r i c h m o nd BASketba ll Former Spider star Ken Atkinson played professionally for 10 years in Europe and is in his first year as an assistant coach with the New York Knicks after serving one year as the director of player development for the Houston Rockets. 2006 Richmond grad Jermaine Bucknor is in his second year playing professional in Spain and is also a member of the Canadian National Team. John Schweitz was drafted by the Boston Celtics and played for the Detroit Pistons and Seattle Supersonics. 9

Claiborne Robins family. H The facility has undergone several renovations over the last few years, the latest of which includes the court being refurbished for the 2008-09 season. A new scoreboard and sound system were added before the 2006-07 season and other renovations in recent years include new locker rooms, player lounges, a weight room and coaches offices. H The Spiders enjoy a large home court advantage in the Robins Center. The Spider faithful and the Richmond Rowdies student section provide a frenzied atmosphere that has helped Richmond post an overall record of 319-164 (.660) in 36 seasons. H The Spiders have posted winning records in 29 of the 36 years in the Robins Center. Richmond has knocked off several nationally ranked opponents in the building, including an 80-63 win over No. 16 ranked Dayton last season. Richmond will play at least 15 home games for the fourth-straight year in 2008-09. During Chris Mooney s three-year tenure Wake Forest, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Seton Hall all have made non-conference visits to the Robins Center. Wake Forest will visit the Robins Center in both 2008-09 and 2009-10. 11

t h i s i s r i c h m o n d bas k e t ba ll 2008-09 University of Richmond Basketball spider facilities H The Robins Center offers plenty of luxuries for basketball players, with new state-of-the-art locker rooms and player lounges, a weight room used exclusively by the men s and women s basketball teams, along with spacious academic study areas, computer labs, film and meeting rooms, sports medicine facilities, a pool and even a barbershop right in the men s basketball locker room. H The Robins Center gives the University of Richmond one of the premier one-stop college basketball facilities in the country. The Robins Center court is permanent and the men s and women s basketball teams have exclusive use of the main arena. In addition to the Robins Center, the athletic department has announced plans to refurbish the adjoining Millhiser Gymnasium into a state-of-theart basketball practice facility. 14
