HUNT ID: 5074-G-L-1395-ElkMDeer-CO-521-ON2IAPA-TSMA3NHUN-1JB-Cabin or Drop Camp With a higher than average success rate, an outfitter with a top notch set of experienced guides and a better than average price this is one you don t want to miss. Drop Camp Priced at $ 2500 reduced own to only $ 1495 Guided Cabin Hunt with Meals and Lodging with your horse for a week, $ 4000 reduced down to only $ 2495 You have reached the center of the earth when you hunt with this outfitter either as a drop camp, or a guided drop camp. From here you can get anywhere, and anyone can get to you. Although after a 2- hour horseback ride on strong mountain horses, through beauty only a few have ever seen you will just enjoy being at the center of the world. In your minds eye the beauty of nature and you are in sync as you spot deer, elk and squirrels during your ride. There is no rush or stress of daily life. Many times, you will be going up before the opening day of the season and riding back after the 5-day season end. You should not have a care in the world, enjoy the ride, you have all day to get to camp. The horses know the trail because they have walked it with a load or without a load for most of their days. If fact they can easily maneuver the dips, corners and uphill stretches in complete darkness. This is as close as you will ever get to the Auto-Pilot mode in life. Located on the western slope in Colorado, by Paonia, with a larger town in the area being Glenwood Springs. That is a great place to swim in the mineral pool or bath house during the time before or after your hunt. The land you will be hunting covers approximately 70,000 acres of mountain land located in Game Unit 521 in Gunnison County. This unit is heavily populated with Elk, Mule Deer, Shiras Moose, Black Bear, and Merriam Turkeys, offering hunters the hunt of a lifetime. This hunting area varies in elevation from 7,000 feet. to almost 12,000 feet. You will be seeing deer and bear if you hunt in September, while all the seasons you will see elk, and now and then a moose. The bulls shot usually 4x4, 5x5 or 6x6 soring 225 to 275 or 300. Our guided hunts offer a variety of hunting locations and options which are only accessible by foot or horseback. We believe that we can offer clients the ultimate western hunting experience. As true sportsman, we believe in the ethics of fair chase, along with all state and federal laws. We also believe in preserving this land we hunt and leave it better than we found it. Mountain horses are not just flatland horses trailered up to the mountains. They are a large breed of horse s or Mule bread to carry loads on steep trails and to have a very obedient pecking order among their peer horses. They will safely carry you to the best hunting spot on the mountain no matter how far up it is. They will carry you like a basket of eggs, protecting you from any dangers that may pop up. They will work up a sweat on a cold day and they will do it for you for, and enjoy every minute of it. When you

see how your horse works for you then you will be able to feel the bond that you both have for each other. He is the Cadillac with a soft ride padded bucket seats and white side wall tires that you always dreamed about owning. Know what is coming into water holes early is the first step to success. Since the outfitter is in such a remotest area, he has no problem setting up trail cameras in the stand locations. There is no actual Black Bear hunting since the regulations in Colorado are so restrictive on hunting bear, no bait, no dogs and only in September when the bears have plenty of food, the success rate is only around 3%. We do allow you to get a bear license and if you do see a boar you can shoot it but there is a $ 500 fee. This is not a trophy fee. This is a feed fee to buy a lot of grain for the horses so they will pack it out. Semi-Guided Drop Camp Hunt $1495, book 2 or more discounted down to only $1395 Hunters will arrive at our ranch the Thursday morning before the hunt starts. We will then get you prepared with a horse to ride to your camp. Then we will arrange all your equipment and food, getting it prepared to be packed on a mule. Hunters should keep gear to a limit of 1 large duffle weighing under 50 lbs. Hunters should plan food accordingly for 7 days but keep weight down as much as possible. Once we have the mules loaded, we will start our ride deep into the mountains. There are only a total of 2 separate drop camps with a maximum of 6 hunters each. The tent is 16x20 so there is plenty of room for 6 hunters and guides. Includes in the Semi-Guided drop camp, you will have you and your gear packed in and out. Your elk will be packed out as well. Camp is placed on natural springs location deep in the Gunnison National Forest Your wall tent will be supplied and set up with cots, woodstoves, cook stoves, pots and pans, firewood Camps are placed on natural springs deep in the Gunnison National Forest. Your Guide will assist you in pointing out locations that provide the best hunting from camp. You are in rich elk country and could just as easy shoot an elk out of the tent. The outfitter will leave you with radio communications so you can contact him to come and pack out an elk or any other requests. The horses have walked this trail many times. In addition, the mules with their eye placement they can see all 4 feet at the same time. The impact level for this hunt runs between Level 1 and Level 2. The pack in is just a 2-hour horse ride in at a walk. If you get tired of riding you can lead your horse and walk for a while. As far as the hunting walking to a tree stand or on a stand as the outfitter pushes the elk to the standers is a level 1 as well. The spot and stalk has multiple possibilities so if that is done then that part would be a level 2 impact part of the hunt. Arriving at the drop camp you will be greeted by your home away from home, a tent with a stove for heat and canvas to keep out the weather and provide a warm secure place to sleep and eat if the weather takes a nose dive. Upon arrival at our drop camp, we will unload all gear and leave you for a week of backcountry hunting. We will take all horses out and then return with them at the end of the week. Hunters will check in with the Outfitter every evening to ensure safety and plan any meat packing. When you get your elk all you

will need to do is quarter it and have it at the camp site, then the outfitter will pack meat out to our ranch and then arrangements can be made for handling and care. Fully Guided, with Horses as needed, including meals and lodging $ 2495 Our Guided hunts are handled differently. There is no camping, at night you will stay in a lodge and bunk house situation, warm and dry every night. You will have all the comforts of home including Satellite TV and WI-FI in the evenings along with a shower. The Packer, Guides and Outfitter will be there as well. In the morning, you will eat breakfast in the lodge, get a sack lunch for mid-day and when you get back in the evening you will have a hot dinner. Take what you need for riding horses and walking because your guide will provide you the guiding whichever way is the most effective depending on what the elk are doing at that time of the year. Leaving the lodge, you will load up your gear in a 4WD truck towing horses in a horse trailer. The idea is to be flexible and put you into the elk no matter which option is deemed to be the most successful. There is only 1 guided hunt per season, with a maximum of 6 hunters in each. He has some private property and right a-ways that will take you miles back in through locked gates where the elk can be pushed by any hunters that come in from any road in the area. There he has tree stands and horse trails. Many stands are on water holes because during the September first 2 weeks of the September Season hot weather and thirsty elk are the key target. Easy to pattern, as they come out of bedding cover to feed. No rut but very patternable. The second 2 weeks are the muzzleloader/ Archery weeks and the Archery only last week. The elk are moving more bugling but difficult to pattern many times because they know what they will be doing, breeding cow of course, but they don t know exactly where they will be doing it. Early and late the hunts take on a spot and stalk method that is so standard in western hunting and so successful, with large properties to hunt. On the guided hunt the guide(s) take advantage of the bull and cow hormones and lack of pattern and drop back on historical elk locations. He cow calls attracting bulls that are looking for that bull that is in search of that last cow that no bull has bread yet. In the October Seasons with rifle, the ground usually has snow and the weather has cooled. The bulls may call back from a bugle but will not come in just give away their location. In addition, the guide will set hunters along good travel areas and drop down below and slowly bump the elk so they travel by the set hunters awaiting the elk s arrival. For further license information visit the Colorado DOW website. Hunters will arrive at our locked gate at 8:00 am the morning before the hunt starts. You will then be escorted to our camp. After arranging your equipment, the staff will give a horse orientation with a 30- minute ride and you will be assigned your horse and tack for the week. The afternoon can be spent relaxing and getting ready for the next morning. During the week, it will be up early in the mornings and after a good breakfast off on the trail. Sometimes you will walk out of camp and other times you will ride a piece to you stand that has high elk traffic. Hunting spots will vary in distance from 20 minutes from camp to 3 hours, depending on where the elk are.

Guided hunts are five days of hunting. Hunts start on Saturday morning and run through the following Wednesday evening. Arrival will be on Friday morning and departure will be Thursday morning, unless Prior arrangements are made with the Outfitter. When you are successful in harvesting an elk, your guide will pack your meat and horns off the mountain to camp, all eatable meat is packed out. From there a multitude of scenarios are available to have your elk processed by local professionals. These rates vary from place to place. Please be prepared transport your game home. Additional Information Additional services such as combination hunts can be made with the outfitter.
