(Next to Steveston Judo Club Dojo) The Steveston Judo Club cordially invites Judokas to participate in the Steveston Judo Tournament which includes adult divisions up to blue belt (2 kyu). Yellow belt is the minimum rank for all divisions no white or white/yellow belts will be allowed to compete. This is a development tournament to encourage as many judokas yellow belt and above to participate. Please note changes in the novice divisions. Kata competition: Friday November 17th, 7:00pm, Steveston Martial Arts Centre Nage-no Kata, Katame-no Kata, Juno Kata, Goshin Jutsu-no Kata, Kime-no-Kata Check in/weigh in: 8:00 Check division codes for weigh in and start times, please be on time, weigh in times will be strictly observed so that the tournament can start on time Referee Meeting: 8:00 a.m. Chief Referee: Sean Hall All Competitor Warmup: 8:30 a.m. Led by Judo BC Head Coach Jeremy LeBris Tournament Start Time: 9:00 a.m. Check division codes for weigh in and approximate start times Entry Fee: $30 Division 1 (under 10 yrs), $30 Division 2 Novice (yellow and yellow-orange under 12 yrs) $30 Division 3 Novice (yellow and yellow-orange under 14 yrs) All participants in the above novice categories receive participation awards $50 for all other divisions $25 when competing in a 2 nd division. (No novices) Kata - $45 per pair, $25 for second Kata division entry A penalty fee of $5 will be charged to any contestant who fails to qualify for his or her entered weight division. We will make every effort to accommodate Novice and Intermediate Girls in separate categories depending on the number of entries in these divisions. Novice divisions and categories will be created if there are sufficient competitors. The Tournament Director reserves the right to alter the weight divisions if the number in these divisions warrants such changes. 1

Draw sheets will be created on Thursday November 16 th. No entries or payment will be accepted after November 15th or on the day of the tournament. Elimination: Novice divisions D1, D2, & D3 will be round robin. Judoka will be grouped accordingly. All other Divisions will be modified double elimination. Divisions with less than 5 contestants will compete in a round-robin format with wins counted first, then points. If there are only 2 competitors in a division, it will be best two out-of three. Medals: Eligibility: All D1,D2,D3 participants receive a participation award. Medals will be awarded for first, second and third in all other divisions. All medal recipients must be in their Judogi s when receiving medals. All participants must be members in good standing with their respective judo associations. Proof of valid membership may be requested at the weigh-in/ check-in. Out of Province: All out of province competitors will be required to submit a waiver form. This is to be signed by a parent or guardian for those competitors under 18 years of age. Rules: Judo Canada Tournament Standards will govern where possible. I.J.F. Rules will apply, except for the following: - All competitors must have a White judogi. - Blue and White judogi s are mandatory for the U16, U18, U21 and higher divisions except Novice. - 2012 Medical rules for all divisions except U 21. - If Judoka rendered unconscious, they are out of the tournament. - For divisions 1-3, the referee shall stop the match when a Drop seoi-nage, Kubinage (headlock throw), Maki-komi, Tani-otoshi, and Sutemi-waza techniques are attempted. - No Kansetsu-waza and Shime-waza for Novice judoka Orange belt and below (all ages) - Any contestant is entitled to a rest between contests for a period equal to double the match duration of his or her previous match. - Golden Score for all Divisions except Divisions 1, 2, 3 and U14 Weigh-In: All competitors must submit an accurate weight with registration. Weights for Novice Divisions 1, 2 and 3 to be submitted by coaches. Club coaches are responsible for reporting accurate weights as round robin draws will be made reported weights. Tournament Director has the right to check contestant weights and alter divisions accordingly. All other contestants must report to the weigh-in at the scheduled times on Saturday, Nov. 18 2017 at the tournament site. See Division categories for weigh-in times.
