Atlanta Braves (53-71) vs. Colorado Rockies (49-73) Game No. 125 August 24, 2015 Turner Field Atlanta, Georgia RHP Julio Teheran (8-6, 4.32) vs. LHP Jorge De La Rosa (7-5, 4.50) TONIGHT S GAME: The Braves and the Rockies open a three-game set tonight and play the fifth of seven meetings between the two clubs this season...the two teams met July 9-12 at Colorado when the Rockies completed a four-game sweep of the Braves...Atlanta owns a 114-68 mark against Colorado, including a 62-25 mark at Atlanta and a 44-20 mark at Turner Field...HOME COOKIN: The Braves open a nine-game homestand tonight with Colorado (August 24-26), New York-AL (August 28-August 30) and Miami (August 31-September 2) and beginning tonight, the Braves will play 25 of their last 38 games at home. TODAY S ROSTER MOVES: The Braves made a pair of roster moves today, as C Christian Bethancourt was recalled today from Triple-A Gwinnett and INF/OF Eury Perez was optioned to GWI, and RHP David Aardsma was designated for assignment and RHP Sugar Ray Marimon was also recalled from GWI...Bethancourt, who opened the 2015 campaign with the major league club (.198, 48-for-215, in 29 games), has batted.327 (66-for- 202) with 23 extra-base hits, 31 RBI and a.840 OPS in 52 contests with the G-Braves...He posted a.991 fielding percentage in 352 total chances (three errors), while throwing out 44% (14-of-32) of would-be base stealers... Marimon, who is in his third stint with the Braves this season, has made 17 appearances (14 starts) with GWI this season, going 5-4 with a 3.31 ERA. WINLESS ROAD TRIP: The Braves yesterday suffered a 9-3 loss at Chicago en route to finishing the seven game trip without a victory...the last time the Braves did not secure at least one win during a road trip of six or more games came last season, July 29-August 26, when the Braves lost eight straight games at Los Angeles (three games), San Diego (three games) and Seattle (two games)...swept AT WRIGLEY: Yesterday s loss resulted in the Braves being swept for the sixth time this season, including the second in a four-game set (July 9-12 at Colorado)... The last time the Cubs completed a four-game sweep of the Braves came nearly 50 years ago, August 19-21, 1968, also at Wrigley Field (doubleheader on 8/21)...STREAK REACHES SEVEN: Yesterday s loss stretched the team s losing skid to a season-high seven games, surpassing their previous high of six games, July 27-August 1 at Baltimore and Philadelphia...DURING THE STREAK: During the seven-game losing streak, Atlanta has been outscored 47-19 and has left 52 runners on base, with a.190 average with runners in scoring position...their ERA sits at 7.23 (45 ER/56.0 IP), while opponents are batting at a.303 clip. BRAVES OF LATE: The Braves have lost 22 of their last 30 contests and have gone just 11-29 since July 8, when they entered play with a.500 record (42-42)...Atlanta currently sits in third place in the National League East division, 14.5 games behind New York. MR. CLUTCH: OF Nick Swisher went 3-for-4 and had two RBI in yesterday s contest, both of which came with two outs in the inning...since joining the Braves on August 7,Swisher has collected 10 RBI over 12 contests, including eight of which have come with two outs. A PAIR OF HOME RUNS: OF Nick Swisher stroked a two-run home run (1-2 count) to the left-field bleachers in the second frame Saturday at Wrigley Field...Two innings later, he drilled a two-out, two-run shot (1-0 count), again to the left-field bleachers, for his 21st career multi-home run game and his first since hitting two on September 15, 2013...LEFT, THEN RIGHT: Swisher s first home run came off Cubs right-handed pitcher Dan Haren as a left-handed batter, while he hit his second homer of the game as a right-handed hitter off lefty Travis Wood marking the 14th time in his career he has homered from both sides of the plate...swisher shares the lead for the most career games in Major League history with home runs from each side of the plate with NYY s Mark Teixeira. NOT SEVENTH HEAVEN: The Braves offense erupted for seven runs on Saturday, but suffered a 9-7 defeat at Wrigley Field...Saturday s loss was the Braves fifth defeat this season when the team has plated seven or more runs...the overall record in such situation is 14-5 and all five of the losses have each been decided by two runs or less...high FIVE: The Braves on Saturday also posted their ninth contest that included at least one inning in which the team plated at least five runs, however the loss lowered their overall record in such games to 5-4. MILLER S WINLESS STREAK: Friday s starting pitcher Shelby Miller registered a quality start at Wrigley Field, having allowed three earned runs in 6.1 innings, but it was not enough to snap his winless streak as the Cubs defeated the Braves, 5-3...Miller, who represented the Braves at this year s All Star Game, has not earned a win in any of his last 17 starts...that s the longest streak of consecutive starts without a win for a pitcher who was selected for that season s All-Star Game...Nolan Ryan had previously held that mark, going 13 starts without a win in 1983 for the Astros...17 STRAIGHT: Since the team moved to Atlanta in 1966, the only pitcher before Miller to go winless in 17 consecutive starts within a single season for the Braves is Carl Morton, who started the 1976 season with 17 winless starts. RISPING WOES: Atlanta s offense went 2-for-7 with runners in scoring position yesterday with both hits - two-out, RBI-singles - coming off the bat of OF Nick Swisher...The Braves went 11-for-58 (.190) with runners in scoring positions over their just-completed seven-game road trip to San Diego and Chicago (NL), and their mark with runners in scoring position over their last 10 games (2-8 record dating to August 14) is.205 (16-for-78), the fourth-worst mark in the National League in that span...on the season, the Braves rank fourth in the National League with a.271 average with runners in scoring position.
