CALENDAR FOR 2019 Welcome Back to the 42 nd Season of the MGCC BCV8 Championship. Here I am again after a year off from Newsletters sending out general information on events that will be happening in the BCV8 Championship during the forthcoming season. Quiet season over and only TEN weeks to go to our first round at Silverstone National on the 30 th March. This will be a one-day event and a single header to ease us gently back into the Season. We need as many of you to enter as possible and try and exceed the very healthy numbers of 2018 throughout the year. To give you some idea of last year s totals over the 11 rounds they were Silverstone Nat 23 MGCC Brands Hatch 28 MGCC Brands Hatch 28 MGCC Silverstone GP 29 MGCC Silverstone GP 29 MGCC Donington Park 25 MGCC Brands Hatch GP 21 750MC Oulton Park 24 MGCC Oulton Park 24 MGCC Snetterton 300 34 750MC Snetterton 300 33 750MC Excellent, any Championship would be happy with those numbers. We have committed to race at Castle Combe this year and although this will be a two day event our races will be on Saturday 6 th July when we will have two 20 minute races and one 20 minute qualifying. Details will be forwarded as soon as they are to hand. 2019 REGULATIONS Motorsport UK (previously known as MSA) have acknowledged our Regulation submission and have confirmed the permit number. As soon as they have received the formal copy of the Regulations they will issue their Permit. This should hopefully be within the next couple of weeks. Copy Regulations attached. Produced and Circulated by Pam McCarthy, E-mail: pam@mccarthymotorsport.co.uk

2019 REGISTRTIONS Time is moving on and please don t leave your Registrations to the last minute before Silverstone National. I am the one who has to enter them up and make the cards etc and usually do this in batches of 10. To date I have received only 8 forms. Your race numbers are safe at the moment and will be kept for you for 2019 but it gets difficult when I receive requests for a number that is already issued and that person hasn t even Registered. Please therefore send in your Registration form as soon as possible. Copy attached and also on the website. You can e mail me the forms and pay by bacs to the Bank Account details on the Registration form. AGM Discussions from November 10 th 2018 Discussions on tyres. Wet weather tyres. After general discussions it was debated but to be confirmed by the Committee, but Wet tyres should remain as Road tyres and it was felt that only a nominal road tyre should be allowed. A general set of wet tyres should cost around 200 but there were other tyres that could cost 1000. This type of tyre would not be considered acceptable. Currently the regulations state that 1A, 1B and 1C tyres are allowed but this is further defined as some of the tyres in 1C are cut slicks and are not acceptable. Therefore, the Regulations will stipulate that: TYRES It is permitted to use any of the following Tyres from Motorsport UK Yearbook 2019 WET TYRE CHOICE LIST 1A Uniroyal Rain Sport 3 LIST 1B Avon Turbospeed CR28 Sport (pre 01/10/90 LIST 1C Yokohama A021-R DRY TYRE CHOICE LIST 1B Toyo Proxes R888 LIST 1C Dunlop Direzza DZ03G LIST 1C Yokohama A048 and AO50 Medium Compound FIA TYRE CHOICE Avon ZZ DUNLOP HISTORIC 550 L14 RACE TYRE List 1C heading note 6. Clubs wishing to use these tyres in events or championships must apply in writing to the MSA, and SR s must provide for their use. These tyres are prohibited for Production Car racing. ( I have informed the following clubs MGCC, the CCRC and the 750MC for them to deal with to MSA and add in their SR s.) There were a couple of queries and weights were discussed instigated by the Steve Lockhart s proposal that there should be either engine modifications or a weight reduction to give the Standard V8 s in Class B a chance of a class win, the weight limit for a Standard V8 is 965kg. Discussions whether to reduce the weight limit to that of the other two classes for V8 s Soft tuned and Fully modified. Their weight limit is 925kg. It was agreed that this would be put in place in the 2019 Regulations. DINNER DANCE Novotel, Knebworth Park, Stevenage Dinner Dance Another Season over and our last event held at the NOVOTEL HOTEL, KNEBWORTH PARK, STEVENAGE SG1 2AX on the 10 th November. A turn-out of 74 drivers and their guests. Our second outing to this Hotel and I think we all had a good time and have rebooked for next year on the 9 th November. Please put it into your diaries now so we don t have anybody miss it when the Season finishes. There were a few discussions about changing the venue and a few offers of assistance in finding another venue but this didn t materialize and we had to rebook or else we

CHAIRMANS CHAT Hi everyone! Hope you all had a good Christmas and new year; and that the rebuilding of your cars is coming along nicely? The cold garages are worth it because the racing season is looking better than ever! There seems to more enthusiasm than ever for the championship. We have new people joining and people who have raced with us in the past, returning for 2019. I personally can t wait for the season to start! The race calendar is looking very exciting, with a variety of different tracks. Yes a couple are quite a drive for some of you, let s make a real effort to get the grids as big as possible. To help make the race meetings as exciting as possible, we plan to keep promoting our social side to make it not just about the racing. Most social promotions will be through whatsapp. So please let me know if you need adding. To make Croft and Cadwell Park worth the journey for many of you, we will make sure that there is extra fun stuff planned as well as the racing. I hope that you are all as excited as me for the 2019 season? Let s make it a good one! BCV8 CHAMPIONSHIP 2018 COORDINATORS REVIEW James Wheeler BCV8 Chairman Firstly, may I thank our main sponsor Blaine Neaves of TN Racing for his Sponsorship in 2018. Blaine kindly offered to sponsor at last years AGM just at the time that the MSA changed their policy on Sponsorship Charges. As a non-driver in the Championship perhaps he would like one of the Watches from last year as a Thank You. In addition to Blaine s sponsorship we received a very generous donation to purchase the Gazebo from Paul Khouri and in addition another generous donation from Andy Young to purchase the extra laurels for the class winners. MGCC had changed their policy on handing out awards from 1 3 5 which it was originally to 1 5 and 7 in the last few years. We made do and provided a few extra awards and from Barry Sidery Smiths vast array of garages came a few more to cover us in 2018. However, in 2019 MGCC have I believe changed back to 1 3 and 5. In addition to that our Trophy Hunter Neil Fowler has offered to look into trophies for us and get a good deal on larger and better quality ones - but from someone who has never been short of a few trophies I personally think small is best as after a few years of dust collecting they get rather a boring spectacle on any shelf. In all the previous years that we have been running the Championship a Sponsor lifted us up into the higher grade of importance as a Championship with a Grade C and the Permit fee was nominal at around 55. In 2018 their charges changed drastically and to have a name on the Championship cost us 580. Trophy only pay the 55, and they only declare themselves as the MGCC Trophy Championship but we all know they have quite a few deals going for sponsorship. In 2019 we propose therefore not to have a name on the Regulations but to just call ourselves MGCC BCV8 Championship. To generate a little income for the funds and expenses we will then offer individual race meeting Support fees of say 200 per meeting, privately offered with no VAT involvement. Ie. None charged none to pay to HMCustoms & Excise. For this nominal support fee the Donator would get his sticker on the car and a mention in the programme as a thank you. Does this

sound feasible to you? If so any offers from the Drivers? We have had a fantastic 2018 Season with a turn out at ALL rounds over 21 culminating at the last round at Snetterton 300 with 34 entered. We had eleven rounds booked managing to slip in a Brands Hatch GP circuit again which this year generated 21 entries. We had double headers at Brands Hatch Indy, Silverstone GP, Oulton Park and Snetterton 300 plus three single headers at Silverstone Nat, Donington, and Brands Hatch GP giving us the total of 11 rounds. Over the 11 rounds there were 75 entries for the AB Class, 67 for Class B, 106 for class C this included the Invitations, and 50 in Class D Giving a total of 298, an average of 27 entered and qualified, up 10 on 2017. The total of those who actually made the race was 285, an average of 26 so again up 10 on 2018 This fantastic Season is in my opinion down to the perseverance of our Chairman James who has popped up at every opportunity with a new idea to entice people back on track with BCV8 Class AB has picked up 18 Full and second Registrations of which 15 actually raced. Class B Also up on numbers with 14 Full and second Registrations and one driver out under the one-off entry. Class C Way up on numbers with 21 Full and second Registrations including 6 Invitation class. Class D There were 9 Full registrations and second some sharing and one Invitation. Down to the last rounds at Snetterton In total we had 38 Fully compliant Registered Drivers and 6 Invitation Drivers Pam McCarthy BCV8 Coordinator
