I<JNGS RIVER GAZETTE Volume 10, Issue 6 The official publication of the Kings River Regulators June 2005 The Great Spaghetti Shootout by Slick Rock Rooster, Mayor The Great Spaghetti Shootout was presented and directed by Judge Jeremiah Steele as a salute to the Italian Western movie. A new rope was installed at the jail in bay five. Lucky for the Judge that everyone enjoyed the shoot and decided not to use the rope. Great match Cowboy! Posse leaders Rogan Steele, Mariposa Slim and Slick Rock Rooster guided the three groups through some very tough Italian speaking lessons. I think we need a Jot more practice with speaking Italian than with shooting. We had to try and get a "parta nell affarea" or a piece ofthe action on stage one. Stage two required the cooking of a little "disgustoso pasta" before starting shooting. Stage three gave the problem of using a compass to discover which way the west was. Stage four required a fist full of lira to be put into the bank bag before the timer allowed the shooting to begin. Stage five wanted everyone to take care of business before rising to shoot. Three of the stages were written "gunfighter friendly" to allow those that wanted to try shooting that style to give it a try. Some interesting sweeps with both knockdowns and stationary targets challenged the shooters. Congratulations to Wildcat John for the only clean match. Coal Train fmished first overall in rank score with Nine Lives second, and Crusty Jim was fastest overall by 1/lOOth of a second and finishing third in rank score. A big welcome to new shooters Ed and Slip Knot Dave. They both shot last month and have been bitten by the bug. We were missing quite a few KRR regulars who were in Fernley, Nevada for the Western States Championships. I don't know all of the results. I heard that World Champion Little Fawn was first in class, as was our Governor Snakebite in Frontier Cartridge with Cole Chance third. Talon Hawke was second in Elder Statesmen. - SRR To the KRR: My friends, thank you for the support and encouragement that you have provided to my family and me during this sad time. My father's passing was unexpected, and happened very quickly. Thank God. We very much appreciate your concern and sympathy. -Snakebite While this month's # 1 shooter Coal Train expressed dismay over the "disgustoso pasta." KRR results for High Sierra There were 16 brave souls from KRR at the High Sierra Shootout. The days were hot, the nights mild, and the shooting fast. The four KRR women: Jessie Montana, Ruthless Ruth, Pocket Change and my sweetie Fannie Mostly all made it to the Deadly Duo. Along with Sudden, Crusty Jim and Sutter Lawman, the Kings River Regulators were well represented. Fannie Mostly and El Lazo took 3rd in the Deadly Duo. Seems he's got a little 21-year-old girl giving him baths now. Some guys, I tell you. Any way, he's looking to coming back out to see the Regulators and is thinking about making the match in July. He's doing physical therapy and his therapist is none other than J.L. Hank. Yep, Hank's kid is doing penance for all the old folk jokes he used to tell. Bearpaw says to tell everyone howdy and he'll be back soon. Western States Championship in Fernley, NV KRR was strongly represented and by the end of the match, we lugged home a large share of the awards.
