Rules for Carpath Enduro 2017 23rd 25th of June 2017, Predeal

1. ABOUT US Carpath Enduro in an international contest organized under the aegis of FRM, by Zen World Extreme Club and The Office Lounge, between June 23rd 25th 2017, in Predeal. A group of enthusiasts of extreme enduro (members of Zen World Extreme group), some of them competitors in the world`s most difficult hard enduro rally, in 2011 during a training session, arrived in Neamt county. Discovering the beauty of the mountains close to Piatra Neamt, they decided to lay the foundation of a hard enduro competition which starts straight from the city. From the beginning, we wanted to show the beauty of Carpathians and the plurality of paths which can be found in these wild regions of Europe. We stopped in East Carpathians, in Piatra Neamt where we organized for 4 years the HEPN-straight from the city competition, event which had gained more an more success every year. At 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 editions, top riders (Graham Jarvis, Jonny Walker, Alfredo Gomez, Paul Bolton, Wade Young, Benoit Fortunato), pilots from the World`s Championship, came to compete in HEPN, returning every year with the same enthusiasm. Wanting to promote spectacular places and landscapes in Romania and to meet riders who always want new trails and adrenaline, we decided it was time to organize these next races in Transylvania. Another advantage of changing the headquarters is the central position, closer to important airports like Otopeni International Airport or Sibiu Airport. Thus, Carparth Enduro was born as a continuation of what we`ve done so far. In 2017, Carpath Enduro will be held in Predeal, between 23rd 25th of June, in the highest town in our country and one of the most famous mountain resorts of Romania. The big mountains that surround Predeal are: Postavarul, Piatra Mare and Bucegi. Thus, Predeal is the perfect location for the hard enduro amators. Predeal is a base-camp placed in the heart of the mountains, the departure and the arrival from the tracks being possible without crossing paved roads. The 2017 edition will be at the same time: Round of Extreme Enduro European Championship, Round of Extreme Enduro Balcanic Championship Round of Hard Enduro National Championship Open Cup (open for competitors who don`t score in any of the championships). GPS COORDINATES for the base-camp: N45 30 41.65 ; E25 35 40.31

RACE CLASSES: PRO EXPERT HOBBY VETERAN WOMAN For PRO`s we recommend to use a GPS. This is not mandatory, but optional. For each class, the participation is individual and the tracks are different. The Hobby class will have the easiest track, while experts more consuming, more technical and longer. The PRO`s will have the hardest track. Each day of contest will have different tracks. More information you cand find at: www.carpath-enduro.ro On the first day will take place the Prolog (a shorter track, with natural and arranged obstacles). All tracks are marked obviously, in order to be easy to find. Organizer: ZEN WORLD EXTREME Sports Club under the aegis of FRM, in partnership with The Office Lounge. The starting order for the first route day wil be determined by the Prolog ranking followed by the registering numbers for those not attending the Prolog.

The final ranking after day 1 (Prolog + finishing time day 1) will represent the starting order for day 2. Start will be closed 15 minutes after the last competitor.those not presenting at the Start on their position will take the start after the last contestant from that class. 6. CHECKPOINTS (CP) and other information regarding the contest Checkpoints are contestant checking points which will be clearly indicated on the track. Each CP will have minimum 2 refrees. It is mandatory for each rider to check all the CPs, therefor the rider MUST stop in every CP, in order to be registered by the refrees. It is very important for the saftey of every competitor, that the organizer knows where you are on the track, thing that it is possible by checking the lists in the CPs. We will use timekeeping vouchers for each rider. Any conspicuous event during the race, regarding the competitors, such as evidently injured competitors or a technical defect stopped competitor, MUST be announced in the first CP that you reach. If serious injuries directly contact by mobile phone the Race Director, using the phone numbers provided, to offer him all the details, such as GPS coordinates, place of accident and if it is possible, how serios is the accident. In case you don`t have signal for your phone, tell another competitor about it and he will anounce it (don`t leave the one who is injured alone!!!). The time spent to offer your help, will be reduced from the total time by the end of the day. Due to this fact, all the riders MUST have with them a charged mobile phone, so you can use it, while you are on the track. Every participant must have with him a functional flashlight. Any competitor who will arrive in a CP, after the track closing, won`t be able to finish the race. He must return to the base-camp on the track that will be indicated by the refrees, or with them. Disrespecting this fact leads to disqualification of the competitor. 7. TIME PENALY Not competing at the Prolog will bring you 20 minutes time penalty over the longest time in the contest, at each class. Disrespecting the rule to keep and remove the motorcycle with the engine off from the Closed Park, before the START, will be penalized with 5 minutes, for each day of contest.

Starting the race with dirty or partially visible numbers, will be penalized with 5 minutes. Missing or not stopping in a CP, coming or going in else direction than your track is for your race class, will be penalized with 150 minutes. For those who use a GPS: Partially registred track on GPS, will be penalized with 100 minutes. More parts missing from the track will be penalized each with 100 minutes. If it proves that the interrruption is due to the battery and the track was followed correctly on the section, the Race Director can cancel the time penalty. Not recording the track at all on GPS will be penalized with 400 minutes. Not handing the GPS in maximum 20 minutes form arriving will be penalized with 30 minutes. Taking shortcuts from the track, or going on more than 50 m from the trackline will be penalized with 100 minutes. Thereupon if you leave the track, you must enter back in the same place you leave it, to avoid the penalty. Exceeding the speed limit (which will be anounced at the briefing and signalized on the GPS track, will be penalized with 1 min for each km, considering the maximum on that section. 8. RESULTS There will be no timing tests along the track. This will be fully timed from Start to Finish. At this time will be added the time penalies (if it`s necessary) and so will result the final time of the day. The first time reached by the competitors will be the Prolog, then the time for Day 1 and time for Day 2. The competitor who will have the FINAL TIME (Prolog + Day 1 + Day 2) the shortest will be the winner. First, in maximum 1 hour from the track closing will be displayed the temporary results. From that moment the competitors will have 30 minutes to contest the results. If there are no complaints, objections or protest, then after 1 hour time, the results will become official without further notice. For agreeable complaints or objections these will be considered by the Race Director or by the organizers. For official complaints or objections these must be in writing and a protest fee of 50 euro has to be posted. If the protest is upheld, then this fee will be returned. In case of an official protest an organized jury meeting will take place to consider this.

ABANDONMENT OUT OF RACE In case of abandonment it is imperative that the competitor anounce it, by phone or directly to the Race Director. Failure to respect the obligation to inform the organizers in case of retirement, abandonment of disqualification, where search operations are carried out, will result in the competitor being liable for the financial costs of search or rescue operations. The competitors who have abandon in one day (Day 1 or Day 2) can compete in the other days and they will count in final results, if they finish at least one of the days. They will have the time from the day that they abandon equal with the longest time at that class + 200 minutes. 9. PRIZES AND AWARDS CEREMONY FOR CARPATH ENDURO 2017 Total value of the prizez is over 10.000 euro. The Awards Ceremony for the General Standings will be organized at the end of the Carpath Enduro 2017 in order to celebrate the winners for each class. The participation of athletes who are part of the awarded teams in the awards ceremony is mandatory. In case of communicating valid reasons which preclude the athletes from taking part, they may assign a person to represent them. 10. CLOSING THE RACE TRACKS The tracks will be closed by the closing teams. In the moment they will arrive in the basecamp, no other rider will be on the track. The sweepers will go only by the trackline. In this case, if you have technical difficulties don t leave the track, otherwise you won t be find and helped by the sweepers team. If you get lost or because of lack of attention you arrive in a place from where you cannot get back by motorcycle, try at least to come by walk on the trackline, so when the closing teams will arrive, you can lead them to that place and so they can help you. Competitors who abandon their motorcycle before the passage of the sweeper do so entirely at their own responsibility. The organizer can in no way be held responsible in case of damage or theft. Competitors who don t follow the sweeper s instructions do so entirely at their own responsibility. However, the competitor may be held responsible for searching and rescuing costs, resulting from their decision of not obeying the sweeper s instructions. Retrieval of a riders motorcycle left on the track cannot be guaranteed by the organizer, however, help will be provided whenever possible.

Such contestants undertake full civil and criminal liability for all damages caused by the same or by the snowmobiles driven, and moreover for the damages caused to the snowmobile of another contestant or to a non-participating snowmobile.
