This manual will provide a concise summary of the information provided by the application, and on how to feed data into it. A solid understanding of handball as a game, its rules and referee signals are prerequisites for successfully working with the application. Please understand that this manual can only be considered supportive in getting used to working with the. We highly recommend developing your scouting skills during video sessions before using it professionally. 3. Automatic Update: After starting the scouting application, it will automatically check for available software updates. If no updates are found, you will be forwarded to the main menu. Click to initiate the updating process. The system is checking for available updates. An internet connection is required. An update has been found. Click to skip update and proceed to main menu. 4. Scout Roles: Basic: Time Keeper - TK Scout Team A - STA Scout Team B - STB There are several "Scouting Roles" defined. Each role can enter different events into the scouting system. Each scout can own one or more roles. For Extended Scouting it is recommended to have at least three scouts for a match. As Extended Scout you can enter more event-types and more specific event data for certain event types. 5. Main Menu: State of the connection to the Scouting Server Scout Roles Software version Click to switch between keyboard or button-layout. Click to see Infos about pluriscout. The Back button switches to the previous screen. If a previous screen is not available, the Back button is disabled. This is the starting screen of the scouting application. The term Match Ticket refers to a unique code generated for each handball match to be scouted. 7. Match Information: Teams Player information Click to edit Players. Click to start scouting. Submitting a match ticket will lead you to this screen. Match information will now be displayed. 8. Edit Playerlist: Check box if player will actually play in this match. Click to add a new player. You can t change name or forename for players who are registered in the EHF-Database. For those, only the shirt number can be modified. For players from the squad who will actually play the match, check the boxes in the "Is Playing" column. New players can also be added. 11. The Scouting Interface: Game clock Team name Team score Event time Event type Number of goals received by the other team, entered by the other team s scout. Only relevant in Extended Scouting! Send Status The event list is to be read from bottom to top. It is primarily designed to provide you with information on your scouting actions. 12. Starting the Game: Click on Start half to start the first half. Start the game by pressing F1 or Start half on Mouse Input Panel. The scouting tool has been designed to record defined game events, using the keyboard as primary input device. It is also possible to click the coloured keys with a mouse or coloured Mouse Input Panel. 16. Match Scouting III: This sequence shows you how to record a TEAM TIMEOUT. Please proceed similarly for: TEAM PENALTY Click on Start TTO. The Time blinks Click on Germany or press the key A. Click on Abort to cancel the event. The Time does not blink anymore. Click on And TTO to end the Team Timeout. 17. Match Scouting IV: This sequence shows you how to record a 7 METER THROW. You will submit either 7m goal or 7m miss at the end of your entry sequence by pressing a GOAL or a MISS key, accordingly. Click on 7m throw. Click on Iceland or press the Key B. 18. Time Control: While scouting, you will sometimes get behind or ahead of the official clock. The scouting application therefore allows you to make corrections of the game clock on your display. The game clock can be paused at any time (also while entering an event). Click on Time corr. Click to edit the game time. Click to save the changes. 26/02/2013 EOS Data Systems GmbH Page 25 of 35

19. Game Phases: Click on End half. This sequence shows you how to END 1st HALF. 20. Error Management I: Handball is a fast-paced sport. You might, at times not be able to keep record of all events correctly. 21. Error Management II: It can sometimes be difficult to instantaneously identify the shirt-no. an event should be assigned to. To continue scouting without delay, any event can be saved without entering a number. This will not affect the scouting process. Simply leave the shirt-no. field blank upon submitting the event. 1. 22. Error Management III: Here, you can delete and restore events. In this extended log it is also possible to record missing and to revise incorrect dress numbers, similarly as described for the scouting screen event log. Deleted event 1. Click on deleted event. 2. 24. Bench scout: To select players, click on FP. To select goalkeeper, click on GK. Bench Scouts can not own another role. If you select a different role, you lose the role of Bench Scout automatically.
