Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) - If you haven t heard, we are now apart of the CMP. Our Club # 043057. You can use this number to order items online from ammo an targets to M1 Rifles and M1911 Pistols. Range Clean-Up - Please remember this is a volunteer run Gun Club. We love having you re here but please remember to clean up after yourselves. Leave no Trace. Congratulations Chantel!! Chantel Cresswell is 13 years old and has been participating in Sporter Air Rifle Qualification of the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program since February 2016. She has earned her way through the entire Sporter Air Rifle program culminating in the award of Distinguished Expert Qualification in the Rifle category. She scored 5,077 out of a possible 6,000 points in the Distinguished Expert Course of Fire that she completed on February 18, 2019. The course of fire consists of 20 targets in each of the Prone, Standing and Kneeling positions where she averaged 85 out of 100 on each of the 60 targets. The award was presented by Ronnie James, the Youth Airgun Match Director, on February 25, 2019. Her dad, Greg Cresswell, is the Assistant Youth Airgun Match Director. Up Coming Events March 29, 30 & 31st The San Juan Wildlife Federation Gun and Knife Show. We need Lots of Volunteers to help with set up and take down, to help check in guns and to help with ticket table and much more. Remember more hand make light work. Time Slots are in 4 hr blocks. Executive Officer Wanted We are in desperate need of an Executive Officer. If no one steps up we will have to raise dues to cover the cost of hiring one. Duties of Executive Officer are as follows: 1. Responsible for the day to day management of the Range 2. Over seeing and planning of all range maintenance 3. Responsible for the management of the range schedule, matches and Match Directors 4. Required to fill in for the president or Vice President if they are not available. Ex. Things to remember - Don t Shot Back Boards with Shotguns. It makes it so other people can t use them. - Ammo in the Pistol Bay: 2000ft per sec or less and No rifle rounds. - When the rifle range in muddy please refrain from diving on the road to the back to help keep the road from being tore up. Thank you! ***Help out by leaving no trace, Empty the trash and haul to the dumpster when full. Helping with the little things makes a huge difference. Remember we are run only on Volunteers everyone is required to help out. NEWS, RANGE POLICIES, AND NOTICES MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS SJWF now has an outdoor bulletin board where the Newsletter is posted. A list of members whose memberships are within 60 days of lapsing is also posted. The bulletin board is mounted on the front exterior wall of the clubhouse. Members please send in your membership dues 30 days prior to the expiration date in order to avoid any interruption in your membership. COURSES CONCEAL CARRY CLASSES Conceal carry classes for a State of New Mexico Conceal Carry License, are offered on a continuing basis, in association with SJWF, by two instructors. Interested potential students may call Mike Freestone (325-5355) or Bond Kinney (330-2475). Students can also sign up at East Main Trade. Fees: $175. Class sizes varies, but usually average 6 students per class. RANGE CLOSED SIGNS are for the SAFETY OF RANGE WORKERS! Absolutely no shooting allowed when the signs are up. Ignoring this safety rule can cost your membership! DRIVING ON RIFLE RANGES When the ranges are MUDDY. Please DO NOT drive on the Ranges. The resulting damage is frustrating to those who donate their time maintaining our range. Please don t be the cause of hours of undeserved labor, and the expense of rented equipment to fix the damage. LOST KEY CARD Call Karen Standley @ 330-7693 or Steve White @ 320-3048. Classes of 1 to 5 students (kids and/or adults; at the SJWF clubhouse; Ages 10 thru adult; kids must have parents present. Fees: $40. FIREARMS TRAINING Safer-U offers you complete training packages with classes in beginning handgun, concealed carry, refreshers/ recertification s, handgun skill builder classes and now hands on personal protection.
