Race 1 BORONIA PEAK VILLAS MAIDEN PLATE - 1600 metres: K. Carnes trainer of Oh Pity Me advised that the mare would be ridden back in the field from its outside barrier. The mare was ridden accordingly. Highway Robber slow to begin and raced three-wide without cover. Highway Robber raced greenly throughout. Crystal Wave was inclined to overrace in the early stages getting its head in the air on several occasions. H. McKechnie rider of Its Martini Time reported that her mount hung inwards in the straight. Craig Robertson, rider of Racconto, which performed poorly stated that the horse travelled well in the early and middle stages however when placed under pressure passing the 800 metres it began to give ground quickly. A post race veterinary examination of Racconto revealed no abnormalities.

Race 2 DML SECURITY MANAGEMENT MAIDEN PLATE - 1100 metres: Has Class which arrived on course 30 minutes prior to the start of its race due to a float breakdown was examined upon arrival by the veterinary surgeon and was passed fit to start. Diamond Cutter slow to begin (2L) and was then hampered by Adopted Opinion which jumped inwards. Testaman shifted out abruptly at the start taking Has Class out onto Waikiki Duke. Lucky Desert was obliged to race wide throughout. T. Neve, rider of Diamond Cutter, reported her mount raced greenly in the straight. Waikiki Duke & Lucky Desert were both inclined to lay-in in the straight. Approaching the 500 metres Has Class improved up onto the heels of Diamond Cutter and as a result had to be steadied. Stewards questioned M. Payne rider of Swoosh regarding her tactics on Swoosh particularly in the early stages. M. Payne reported that she had been instructed to obtain a position with cover, however after beginning well she elected to ease her mount to allow runners to her outside, which were showing early speed, to cross her after travelling a short distance. Stewards noted her comments. Race 3 SCHUBERT CATERING MAIDEN PLATE - 1300 metres: After being placed in its starting stall Stoking (NZ) became fractious and was removed by the club veterinarian and passed unsuitable to race. Stoking (NZ) was withdrawn by Stewards at 1.52pm. Windsor Spirit which was in the adjacent starting stall was also removed and examined by the clubs veterinarian and was passed fit to run. Betting amendment after late withdrawal: All monies bet for a win and / or place and concession betting on the late scratching(s) to be refunded. All successful bets on horses prior to time of withdrawal(s) are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: Win Bets 15 Place Bets (for winner) 10 Place Bets (for 2) 10 Place Bets (for 3) 17 *All monies bet after the Stewards declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value. *(Provided that no deduction shall be made which would return to the bettor a sum less than the stake wagered by them, except in the case of a dead head). T. O Sullivan trainer of Stoking was advised a warning would be placed on the mare s record for its behaviour in the barriers. Anothermasterpiece slow to begin.

Frinja raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Passing the 500 metres Xaar Hawk had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Professional Miss which shifted in slightly. Passing the 100 metres All The While which had had some difficulty in obtaining clear running was struck over the nose accidently by the whip of J. Rule (Xaar Hawk). Race 4 CAREY COVERS 0 58 HANDICAP - 1600 metres: Stewards viewed the vision of the start to ascertain whether Argentogris had been afforded every opportunity to begin. It was established that fractionally before the start was effected, Argentogris lunged forward in anticipation thereby making contact with the front of its barrier stall. This resulted in Argentogris losing ground (4L). As this incident was attributed to the manners of Argentogris it was subsequently declared a starter and trainer S. Dwyer s representative was advised that a warning would be placed on Argentogris s record. Leaving the 1300 metres Seraphee improved up onto the heels of Amaretti and had to be steadied outwards resulting in Seraphee making contact with Angelou on several occasions. Angelou raced wide without cover the majority of the event. Near the 600 metres Seraphee had to be eased when placed in restricted room to the inside of Angelou. Stewards questioned D. Yendall rider of Diamond Days (NZ) regarding his tactics particularly in the middle stages where he elected to improve three wide from a one out one back position in order to improve. D. Yendall stated that Diamond Days (NZ) was a big striding mare who did not seem comfortable racing in tight room particularly with the slow speed in the event and therefore elected to shift out and improve to a leading position. Stewards noted his comments. Race 5 GIFT HOTEL 0 58 HANDICAP - 1100 metres: Poppy s Boy raced wide without cover from the 600 metres. Poppy s Boy had a tendency to overrace in the middle stages and raced wide. Near the 600 metres No Cash Left got its head up when being restrained. Dats A Lass raced in restricted room over the concluding stages and had to be restrained off the heels of Jetstyle Express (Jacob Rule). J. Rule was advised to show far greater care in similar circumstances. Subsequent to the race stewards inquired into an incident between Jacob Rule (Jetstyle Express) and Jake Noonan (Dats A Lass) which occurred when their respective horses were pulling up. During this incident Jake Noonan was dislodged from his mount. Stewards took evidence from Jake Noonan, Jacob Rule and the 10 other riders who rode in this race. At the request of Jacob Rule who did not feel he was in the right frame of mind to continue with this inquiry, Stewards adjourned to a date to be fixed. A post race veterinary examination of Dats A Lass revealed a minor laceration to the off hind leg. Race 6 WILKY S FENCING & SHEDS BM64 HANDICAP - 1600 metres: Meilucca jumped away awkwardly and therefore was slow to begin. Rounding the home turn Ananias was held up for clear running until near the 150 metres.

J. Hill rider of Mujadale was fined the sum of $200 for using his whip in a forehand manner on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. Race 7 STAWELL HYDRAULICS 0 58 HANDICAP - 1600 metres: Royal Hawaiian slow to begin (1L). At the start Before You Think was tightened for room between Herbie which shifted out and Keypoints which was taken in by Davalon which jumped away awkwardly. Keypoints raced wide without cover. Near the 600 metres Before You Think shifted out and made contact with Royal Hawaiian taking that gelding out off its course. J.Noonan, rider of Before You Think, was notified to exercise more care in future. When questioned regarding Edge Of Storm improving to her inside near the 600m, H. McKechnie, rider of Haakon, stated that she did not wish to race on the fence as this section of track was noted as heavier and therefore there was an opportunity for Edge of Storm to improve to her inside at that stage. He added that her mount also was inclined to lay outwards away from Edge of Storm rounding the home turn. Her comments were noted. A post race veterinary examination of Royal Hawaiian revealed the gelding to be lame in off foreleg. The trainer Mr P Chow was advised that prior to racing again he would be required to produce a veterinary certificate of soundness for the gelding. Race 8 DAVID O JONES MITRE 10 BM64 HANDICAP - 1300 metres: M. McKenzie, trainer of Indiella Miss, advised stewards prior to the running of Race 6 that it was their intention to have the mare ridden in a more forward position when compared to its most previous start. The mare was ridden accordingly. Hennessy s View was slow to begin. Trouble In Vegas had a tendency to race keenly in the early stages. Approaching the 600 metres Samer Drive had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Vert Cadeau which shifted in. Vert Cadeau raced wide without cover from the 600 metres. Samer Drive was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and until approaching the 100 metres when it obtained a narrow run between Lucario (NZ) and Fashion Wah Wah and when doing so made contact with Lucario (NZ) which had shifted in slightly before being straightened. Rounding the home turn Octavanus was taken out off its course by Aquae Sulis which was shifting out. Passing the 200 metres Hennessy s View was eased to avoid the heels of Fashion Wah Wah which was taken in slightly by Bon Genre (J. Childs). J. Childs was advised to show far greater caution in similar circumstances. SWAB SAMPLES Pre-race blood for post-race analysis:
