Summer s here and so is the newspaper! Hi I m Shelia!

Hello and welcome to the return of Miles monkey page! I Was so happy when I got told I could carry on the page and even more excited when I got elected manager. So anyway I get my page and don't know what to write, so I call the cavalry (dinner ladies Miss.White and Mrs. Wilmot) We came up with many strange and intriguing topics but two things really stood out to me: the weather and the weekends! So lets start with the weekends, my favourite time of the week. No maths, no English, no work, just relaxation (oh and an annoying brother!) When I m with my mum, I always have an amazing time and it s the same at my dad s. We might go ice skating, go to a trampoline park or just chill. Another topic was the typical British weather and the only thing to really talk about is RAIN! (and the off chance of some sun shine) but we have had some quite nice weather recently. And I have actually worn shorts! Talking about the nice weather whenever it is sunny, I climb on to the top of my play house roof (Don t worry its only about 3 meters off the ground!) but I fell off and I now have a yellow bruised arm. But I lived and I still climb up there! Here is my brother kissing a toad! See year 3/4 page for a back story

This term EYFS have been learning about animals, plants, and places. They have been to Twycross Zoo to look and learn about the mini beasts and animals. Also they have been looking at Africa and the jungle. As part of their topic, they have also been creating wild and wonderful mini beasts and had an ugly bug ball with food and dancing! They have made wild and wonderful mini-beasts and did a fabulous job peforming the parent worship: Noah s ark. In PE they did sequences and also running, jumping and hopping. In the last term term they learnt about different places like America and Norway, also they looked at different hotels and campsites. By Ellen

1. It has cool black sun glasses and is grinning. 2. It has tears streaming down his face. 3. It has a purple face with devil horns. 4. It has hearts as eyes and a smiley face. 5.It is a very smelly one. 6. It has a smiley face with drops of water in each eye.

Knock knock Who's there? Cash Cash who? I would rather have peanuts

In year 1 the children have been creating/writing their own clown non-fiction books. Their topic in the summer term was all about the circus. They designed and created their very own shoebox circuses. They also had a dress up. (circus themed). Also in the year 1/2 department they have been learning about the properties of materials. For maths year 1 s have been learning how to divide small numbers (sharing a group of items between a certain amount of people) and halving and grouping. Then finally in PE Stingrays have been doing a dance named The Bear Hunt. They also did football in outdoor PE! years festival. Whilst learning about Circuses in their topic, the Ilkeston carnival came for this By Charlotte

Year 3 and 4 have been learning about rainforests - they even had a visit from Tropical Inc. They have learnt all about the rainforest animals: what they do, and how they catch their prey. In literacy they have been writing stories and diaries about the rainforest. They looked really good. In D.T. they have sewn poison dart frogs and they made a fact file about them. They are all stapled to the wall now! In their science they have been looking at how plants grow and they did an experiment to find out what helps them grow well. Panther class based their class assembly around rainforests. In indoor P.E they have been doing gymnastics and in outdoor P.E they have been doing field games. Some of the year 4 s are doing swimming at Ilkeston pool some year 4 s are currently doing it and some year 4 s have done it beforehand. In Numeracy they have been doing the written method, some say it s TRICKY!! BY Megan.S A cute picture of a rainforest Animal! #10 HP if you can identify what animal it is!

Ellen has made a magic tunnel! Oh no miles has fallen in! Where has he gone?! Created by Miles Miles has teleported somewhere else! Not the right place! He is in the wrong place again! Agghhhhh! Ouch! Owwww! Ahh home sweet home The end!

Last term Year 5/6 designed and built models of villages based on the plan of the new Shipley view estate. Mr Attenborough s class worship was based on Dragons Den, then town planners from his class competed and saw who could get the most votes. In the end Sunny Waterville town won! Year 5/6 s summer topics were: 1) Thrills and Spills they have done some incredible fairground art showing motion in the rides. They ve been researching different rides and looking how gravity and other forces help them to be amazing as they are. 2) Lights Camera Action - where they learned how they saw things, and all about early film making. In ICT they have been taking computers apart and making Power- Points to show every item that is part of the computer and we ve also been doing Lego We-Do (Lego models that move with motors to a computer programme). In P.E they have just finished tennis and are now doing athletics and gymnastics. They read a great book by Louis Sachar called There s a Boy in The Girl s Bathroom. They have been getting inside the characters minds and describing them on the outside and on the inside.

Everyone is gossiping about the end of year play an wondering if it will go well. There is also gossip about the leavers disco for year six. Year six disco Isle of Wight-most year six s are so excited about Isle of Wight. A lot of the year six s had been stressing about SATS but they are finally over! By Megan Sisson

Recently the year 6 s went on a residential trip to the Isle Of Wight. We woke up at ridiculous o clock in the morning and set of on our five and a half hour journey to the Isle Of Wight. After the ferry we went to the Isle Of Wight zoo and saw a lioness being fed. On Tuesday we went to Black Gang Chine an awesome theme park. It was scorching hot so everyone had to wear lots of sun cream! Sadly I (Miles) didn't and got quite bad sunburn, but I wasn't the only one! On Wednesday we went to the scary but interesting doll museum. When Mrs. Higgins took a photo of a doll the camera said BLINK DETECTED which creeped everyone out! We then went to the beach and played on the park. Thursday was the day of fossil hunting and we found some very cool and strange things! We then had an hour on the beach to allow the story teller to set up. She told us lots of different stories - some scary, some funny. Then on the last day we woke up early and set back for West Hallam where we all met our parents and told them about what a good time we had! For more Information scroll through the twitter feed for pictures and captions!

A man gets an egg and a rocket kit. The man builds the rocket and puts the egg inside it. Then the man stands back and launches the rocket. The rocket suddenly blew up. The egg was not damaged how come? If a man is trapped in a room. There are no doors no windows. How did he get out? A sheep was in the field and it just vanished How can that be? A farmer has 17 sheep and all but 9 die. How many are left? How many apples would you have if you took two apples from three apples? Eskimos are very good hunters, but they never hunt penguins. Why not? By Charlotte

Everyone is crazy about social media and things like that. Also the year 6 s are crazy about secondary school. There is also craze about Isle of Wight trip. Isle of Wight Everyone is going to Bobble art instead of Smiggle as they have found out that Smiggle breaks so easily but bobble art lasts longer. All of the year 6 s are dying to know what they got in their SATS papers! By Megan Sisson

A note from the team. The team would like to say a big thank you for supporting us for the past newspapers we have contributed to and we now also have to say goodbye as all of us are now trotting off to secondary school, but Megan our year 5 trainee will take over with a new team and keep the newspaper going! It has been amazing opportunity or how I like to call it a once in a lifetime experience". Once again thank you so much. If you would like to see any changes in style or content of our newspaper, please feel free to chat to Megan Sisson or even volunteer to help out next year. Miles and the rest of the team.

Thank you for reading the newspaper for this term, next term the newspaper will be switched up a bit because we are having a new team for next year when the current year six team (Ellen, Miles, Grace, Charlotte, Megan, Diego, Bailie and Brodi) will be leaving the team as they will be going to secondary school and the current year five (one person) team ( Megan S) will be taking over the team which means new spaces will become free. Meaning that current year fours and current year fives will be able to join the newspaper team, just contact one of the current team to put your name down for next year to make the newspaper. But anyway, thank you for reading this terms newspaper and GOODBYE!
