RBHS ATER POO PHIOSOPHY 1. e believe that all boys who sign up should be accommodated in a team as far as possible. The only time this will not be possible is if we do not have enough coaches, our facilities become overloaded or there are no opposition teams to play. 2. hen dropping a player, he may not be dropped through 2 teams without being given a match in a lower team. i.e. A team to the C team without playing a match in the B team. The coaches are required to inform the boy why he is being dropped and what he can do to improve his game in order to stand a chance of re selection. 3. Boys are expected to play in all matches in the teams they are selected for. They may only be excused from playing if they have an injury or have a very important family commitment. (going away for the weekend does not fall into this category) 4. Boys not at school the day before their fixture owing to illness or injury will not to be considered for selection. However, if they are away for other acceptable reasons i.e. aptitude testing, job shadowing) they may be selected on condition that the coach has been informed in advance. If coaches are unsure please do not hesitate to consult with the parent rep for that age group or the Mic of ater Polo 5. e approach the game to win by playing better than the opposition and playing within the rules/laws governing the game. e do not tolerate gamesmanship or unsportsmanlike behaviour 6. e support our teams in a positive manner. Chirping or sledging the opposition along with arrogance will not be tolerated. e accept defeat in a dignified manner even if we feel aggrieved by a result or a decision. e thank both the referee and the opposition and the table crew knowing that if it were not for them we would not have a game to play. 7. e are neatly turned out at fixtures and wear our uniform with pride. CODES OF CONDUCT FOR PAYERS, PARENTS AND SPECTATORS PARENTS CODE OF CONDUCT hile Rondebosch encourages and supports the wholehearted support of parents, you are reminded that the competitive games your sons play are organized for the benefit of their enjoyment. Encourage your son always to play by the rules and their interpretation. The good example you set by respecting the decision of the officials can do much to support this. The use of profane language or the harassment of players, coaches and officials does nothing to support the spirit of the game. Inculcate in your son the virtue of honest effort as being as important as winning so that the result of each game is accepted without undue disappointment. Your promotion of the ideals of good sportsmanship and a sense of fair play will only maximize the enjoyment your son derives from playing competitive games. Applaud good play by your son s team and the members of the opposing team. Recognise and support the value and importance of coaches. They give of their time and resources to provide recreational activities for your son. PAYER S CODE OF BEHAVIOUR Play for the Enjoyment and not to please your parents or coach.
