From the Golf Course Superintendent It has been a long spring with all the wet weather we have had. The golf course has held up well and we are looking to have an exciting year. We will definitely have all the mowers going in full force. A few projects we will have going, as soon as the weather permits, are continuing with our tree pruning program on #3 and between #1 and #4. We will also be doing some sod work on #3 rough and a few other select rough areas throughout the course. We are rebuilding the nursery green and sprigging with tifeagle on the edges of the greens. Also, we will be rebuilding tee complexes throughout the year. This is an in house project that we will be doing as time permits. We are going to do the right side of #9 first. This will consist of stripping the grass from the tees and surrounds. All tees will be enlarged and positioned facing in the appropriate direction. The tee tops will be capped with 2 to 4 inches of a sandy loam, and then laser leveled. Once all the dirt work and laser leveling is done, sod will be brought in and complexes and tee tops will be sodded. Once the grass is down, it should be 2 to 3 weeks before the tees will be ready for play. This is a much needed project for our golf course. I would just ask for some patience in that we are doing this in house and will get to as many as possible without taking away from the regular maintenance of the course. We will also be continuing our top dressing of the approaches, and have plans to expand this into the fairways throughout the year. Bunker sand will also be added to the bunkers over the next few weeks, getting the sand back to adequate levels for summer. The maintenance staff is very excited to be in our new shop, and ready for an excellent year on the golf course. As always, any questions or concerns, please don t hesitate to contact me. Please call Ellen or Jennifer immediately if you need them, as we are filling up fast. People always want to know how many people we have at our events. We served approximately 850 for Easter and 600 for our crawfish boil two great events. 84 players played in our Member/Member Golf Tournament and we had 204 tennis players in our Member/Guest. Awesome numbers! As I was putting this newsletter together, I realized what an active month May is going to be at ERCC. Mark your calendars and participate in your clubs activities. I believe we have something for everyone. Please help me welcome Lori Bryan to our staff. We have moved Matthew over to POTC to be the General Manager there, and Lori will be taking his spot as the Assistant Manager of ERCC. Lori comes with a lot of customer service experience. I am looking forward to the positive impact she will make at ERCC. We will be putting on awning over our patio area behind the restaurant. This is a very popular area and I believe this addition will only make the patio more valuable. Come out and enjoy this great addition. East Ridge continues to thrive. We have great members, a great staff, a great location and a hard working board of directors, who only wants the best for East Ridge. Come out and enjoy. Ricky Rogers rickyercc@aol.xom 9
