I always try to find FUN, Exciting, and Fair ways to spread these prizes around, while providing a means to REWARD those players who keep score the most, however keeping an element of LUCK (cause Chalking is still a necessity), too. Director s Notes: This was the 1st time I spread these 5 tourneys over a TWO-DAY event. I LIKE IT! WE WILL DO IT THIS WAY, AGAIN! What amazed me was how many of Saturday's players didnot seem to know that the Modified Blind-Draw was on Sunday. Especially, since I only had POSTERS & FLYERS out for THREE MONTHs; almost nightly shoved the DARTISTRY BOOKLETS in everyone's face; Yelled it out at almost every tourney; emailed this every week; and EVEN ON SATURDAY TOLD Y'all to come back on Sunday. LOL, HAHAHAHAHA. What else do I have to do? Repetition? - OK, We WILL REPEAT THE 2-Day process THIS SEASON! AND THE NEXT! AND THE NEXT!

Drinks Saloon was the host for this TWO-DAY Event. Their remodeled club with 12 boards was ideal to handle all the tourneys and still allow us to FINISH the Saturday tourneys by 12:45 am & the Sunday Modified Blind-Draw by 8:00 pm on Sunday evening. EXCITING RECORD BREAKING PARTICIPATION LEVELS at the Saturday tourneys kept us playing darts till almost 1am on Sunday morning. The Ladies ONLY Doubles started right on time (Noon) with 28 players (62%) of the qualified players. When it reached the finals, Karen Williams & Roni Doggett were facing Lynn Kelly & Cathy Kintsley in a very close finals. Roni & Karen started out slow losing to Cheryl Martinez & Joan Bullard. They worked their way back through the 'Last Chance Bracket' to the finals past Shanda Kozak & Cynthia Mitchell, Kay Shannon & Raylene Gleghorn, Cheryl & Joan again, Beth Flach & Amy Ainsworth, leaving Maria George & Karen Duncan with 3rd and finally beating Lynn & Cathy for FIRST PLACE. Lynn Kelly's and Cathy Kintsley's road to the finals wasn't much easier as they had to beat Sara Lloyd & Cindy McGaughey, then Raylene & Kay, Lisa Castle & Michelle Garza, and finally Maria George & Karen Duncan to take the 'Winners' Bracket'. They fought like crazy to keep Roni & Karen at bay, but after 4 games had to settle for 2nd place. Well played LADIES. We finished the Ladies' Doubles around 3:45 pm and immediately got the Ladies' Singles matches underway. While I'm talking about the ladies, I might as well cover the Ladies' Singles. It started at 4:30pm with 29 excited and determined women ready to compete for the (hopefully coveted) Ladies' Singles Title. When it was over, THREE FORMER Singles Champions ended up in the TOP FOUR. Suszi Gagnon, Roni Doggett, & Amanda White have each WON at least one season-end Singles title. Suszi (a two-time winner)ended up with 4th this time, but I'll bet that just makes her more determined to win the next one. Roni was the reigning champ looking to repeat, but alas, she ended up with 3rd losing to Amanda. Waiting at the TOP of the Winner's bracket for one of these former champions to work their way back was Cindy McGaughey. Cindy threw her way to the finals beating Maria George, Shanda Kozak, Kay Shannon, Suszi Gagnon and Amanda White. Amanda had it equally as tough as she played against Lynn Kelly, Sara Lloyd, Cheryl Martinez, and Roni Doggett before she lost the winners bracket to Cindy. The rematch between Roni & Amanda to play in the finals was awesome as both ladies threw excellent darts. In the end, Amanda was victorious over both Roni and Cindy as the finals went down to the last game. Amanda White ended up winning her 2nd Ladies Singles Title and Cindy received 2nd for her fantastic effort. Congratulations Ladies you ALL DID FANTASTIC. Next season's tourney should be incredible as the former champions compete against some new rising and challenging talent. Now for the MEN. What can I say, guys? There were 70 participants in the Men's Blind Draw and an unprecedented62 players in the Men's Singles tournament. AMAZING Last season we just had 50 men in the blind-draw and only 48 men in the Singles. What difference. WOW! WOW! WOW!. Sure am glad I split these tourneys into TWO DAYS. Haha! The Men's Blind-Draw began at 12:45 pm and ended at 5:15 pm. Throughout the tourney you could hear every kind of exclamatory language possible as excitement and frustration worked its way through ALL the players. There were consistent 6, 7, 8, & 9 marks all day with a few Ton80s, UPSETS, surprises, and unexpected results. My applause goes out to ALL the men who played knowing it was going to be a VERY CHALLENGING DAY for them. The finals consisted of four familiar names, Pito Mendoza & Ernesto Castenheira against Ricky Morales & Butch Brown. To those of us who play regular, hearing that these players drew parners caused us to groan and wish there was a CALCUTTA so we could buy their teams. LOL. NOPE - there won't be one).

Pito & Ernesto drew each other last year in the Modified draw, so they had a second opportunity for glory. Their road to the finals began by beating Rocky Hoy & Nasur Alhamendi, then Larry Johnson & Ray Chapman, Mike Herndon & Mark Bunch, Gene Bullard & Mike Davidson, Sean O'Connor & Jon Dilley (5th)before losing to Ricky & Butch in the winner's bracket. They had to fight hard to win out over David Vick & Larry 'LB' Ballard (who ended up with 3rd place) in order to face Ricky & Butch, again. Ricky Morales & Butch Brown had to fight their way past Eric Pope & Robert Popham (7th), then Mike Owen & Evan Raap (6th). Next came Jeff Divers & Jeff Allsop (4th), then David Vick & Larry Ballard, finally Pito & Ernesto to rest upon the top of the Winners' Bracket waiting for their final challengers. The finals were over quick, this time, as Morales & Brown were ON FIRE and would not be denied. It was a fantastic tournament and I give applause to everyone who participated. The Men's Singles began at 5:30 pm. Almost an hour later than scheduled. With 70 players in the draw, I was surprised we started that soon. The most amazing part of the Singles was the 62 players. My bracket sheet was almost maxed out. It was quite a while before everyone had played at least ONE match (we were still playing the ladies singles, too). Eventually we reached the money rounds around 9:00pm and then the matches got really intense as NONE of these men were laying down. The final four players (Eric Pope, Davis Snider, Ernesto Castenheira, and Larry Ballard) were all PREVIOUS SINGLES CHAMPIOHS that struggled past beginners, up-an-coming players, and other champions. None of them had it easy as this tourney was filled with so many talented and competitive players. ALL in ALL it was a fantastic day on the dart boards. For those people that were there for those final matches, it will be one to remember. Mike Davidson was challenging Davis Snider to move on to 4th. That one game hit over 700 points and took almost 40 minutes. Back & forth two or three times over with the final result unknown until Davis hit the last winner. Mike threw his heart out, but ended up just short. On the other side Eric Pope and Patrick Estep also had a great battle with Eric ending up on top. Well done Patrick. That put Eric against Davis for 4th. 501 was played and Eric jumped out to a quick lead and what looked a sure win sitting on 32 with Davis at 122. THEN came the 'Davis magic'. Double Bull, Double 20, Double 16 for the win. WHAT? let's see that again! DB, D20, D16 = 122? YEP! Write that one up in the books. Unbelievable. Larry Ballard against Davis Snider for the right to play Ernesto in the Finals. As usual these 2 players threw awesome, but Davis had used up his magic dust on that last game and LB never let up, once. Thanks Davis for the magic show. Looking forward to it again next season. By the time we reached the finals, it had been a llloonnngg day and was near 12:40pm. Ernesto was hurting (back problems), so LB and he decided to split 1st & 2nd place money, but played ONE game of 301 for the Award and the audience. Larry pulled it out, but with 3 games it could have gone either way, since Ernesto put Lb in the loser's earlier. Well done, guys. That concluded the first day of the 5th DFW Dartistry Championships. Sunday is another story. Finally, the Modified Blind-Draw begain at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 3rd. There were 68 players (34 teams) all ready to show their stuff and take home the "Title". There were 27 women & 41 men entered. That made 27 mixed teams and only 7 all men teams. COOL! The eventual winners were Steve Gagnon & Gene Bullard winning in 3 games over Lisa Castle (laughing all the time) & Davis Snider (laughing too) in the finals. Steve & Gene's road to the finals went through Cheryl Martinez & Kevin Knox, then Ben Hendon & Troy

Pople, Roni Doggett & Rodney Cooper, LB & David Lloyd, and finally Lisa & Davis(twice) to win the tournament. Lisa & Davis had to go through Terry Toth & Mike Davidson, Beth Flach & Aaron Benzine, Roger Dodson & Ernesto, lost to Gene & Steve, but beat out LB and David (3rd)to face Gene & Steve, again. The finals were exciting as this was the furthest that Lisa Castle & Steve Gagnon had ever gotten in previous season-end tourneys. Congrats to both of you. Gene & Steve were the ultimate winners and well deserved as they both threw some excellent darts. After the Modified draw, we held the Regular Circuit Sunday night tourney, but ADDED $200 and had 36 players. What helped to make this weekend event SO SUCCESSFUL was the fact that MANY players had EARNED over 30 Participation Reward Credits allowing them to play in some of the tournaments at a discounted (prepaid) rate. There were 1,714 credits earned throughout the season with 1,131 used during this 5 tourney event. I'm sure that was the main reason there were so many entrants in ALL the Saturday tourneys, as many of the players said, "Well, I already paid for them, so why not use them!". This program has really taken off, as the hidden value in it has been found by so many players. Many of the players didn t have to pay any entry fees (just side pots)at all because they had played 40 times or more during the qualifying season. This program will continue. It helps everyone and really works. The Participation Reward Program is used to REWARD the Players who play the most during any season. For every tournament played over the INITIAL 10 tourneys needed to qualify for the season-end Dartistry Championships, a player earns $1 prepaid credit toward their entry fees at this event. If they play 40 times their entry fees are ALL paid. Of course, they still have to place in the money at least once before March 31st, 2005 but that hasn't been a problem for 168 players who qualified, last season. One of MY most EXCITING MOMEMTS of this 5th Dartistry Season & Event centered around one PLAYER that exemplified such a LOVE for this Sport and such fantastic participation during the season, that I had to acknowledge his efforts and find a way to REWARD him for an achievement that had never been accomplished since the Circuit's inception, 6 years ago. ROGER DODSON actually managed to PLAY in MORE TOURNAMENTS than ME. That had NEVER been achieved before. He played in an amazing 88 tournaments during this Dartistry season.. So, I brought him up in front of everyone on Sunday and presented him with his well-earned DARTAHOLIC AWARD and a $20 gift certificate to Hooter's after reading the inscription on the award to everyone.*(see inscription at end of report). This really ended up being ROGER's Weekend as he had DREAM DRAWS all weekend long. It started on Friday night at Salute Club when he drew Butch Brown and got 2nd place. In the Men's Blind-Draw on Saturday he drew Davis Snider and made it to 12th place. Then on Sunday, in the Modified Draw, he drew Ernesto and got 4th. You won't believe it, but he drew Davis Snider, again in the Circiut's tourney on Sunday night and got 2nd place. But his run was not over, on Tuesday, 10/5, at Austin Ave he drew Davis Snider once more. This time, they earned FIRST. WELL DONE ROGER. LOL. All in all it was a Fun tournament with fantastic competition, fabulous pay-outs, and phenomenal darts thrown. Thanks everyone for playing, score keeping, and making this wekend so much FUN for ALL!. A special thanks goes to my co-directors, Cathy Davidson, Mark Albright, my tolerant wife - Sara Lloyd, Jeff Divers, & Scott Henson. A special thank you goes to Cindy McGaughey &

Cynthia Mitchel for handling ALL the Chalker Prizes. Also we MUST thank DRINKS STAFF, JD, Henry, Trish, Georgina, Gene, Karolina, and of course Terry & Sue Nash for sponsoring this event. Hopefully, they did well and want us back in April of 2005. Thank you, again and See You on the Boards, David Lloyd, Circuit Director *Dartaholic Award Roger Dodson Awarded to the most dedicated Circuit Dart Player who exemplifies the Spirit of Enthusiasm and Love for the Sport of Darts that it requires to PLAY in 88 tournaments during ONE Season. He displayed an undaunted desire to learn the game, play the game and enjoy the game, while maintaining a SUPERIOR attitude of Sportsmanship. April 2004 through September 2004
