Weather: Fine Track: Soft (7); WP 200m Heavy (9) Rail: True STEWARDS REPORT Lismore Turf Club LISMORE RACECOURSE Saturday 18 July 2015 STEWARDS: B J Kliese (Chairman) & F C Worrad RIDING CHANGES: As D McIntosh was injured, stewards permitted the following rider changes - Race 3 Race 4 C Franklin (Trey Bit) B Wallace (Crusader Rabbit) As A Chau was unable to make the weight, stewards permitted the following rider change Race 6 P Romeo (Sheeda Gal) A Chau was fined $100 (AR120b). RACE 1: Frigid Air Lismore Class 1 & Maiden Plate 2000m: Changly Approaching the first turn was carried wider on the track. Grace With Fire Raced wide in the middle stages. Heaventomurgatroyd Rounding the first turn laid out and carried Summer Song wider on the track. Pandanus Approaching the first turn took charge of its rider, hung out and carried Changly wider on the track. Trainer Mr P Grills was advised that a warning would be placed on the racing record of the gelding in relation to its manners. Summer Song Rounding the first turn was carried wider on the track and shortly after was steadied when crowded between Pandanus and Heaventomurgatroyd, both of which shifted ground. When questioned regarding the performance of the mare, apprentice Ms K Kirkwood explained that after receiving interference near the 1500m, she was forced to steady her mount and as a result was caught wide without cover throughout the middle stages. Ms K Kirkwood said when placed under pressure passing the 600m her mount responded, however shortly after straightening her mount commenced to weaken and was disappointing in its run to the line. Ms K Kirkwood added although 1
caught wide, in her opinion the mare may not have backed up since its most recent start on the 10/7/2015 over a similar distance. Trainer A Honess concurred with the comments made by Ms K Kirkwood and advised that the mare would have a brief freshen up prior to its next start. A post race veterinary examination of the mare revealed no significant abnormalities. RACE 2: Hughes Family Law Maiden Handicap 1300m: Boiled Rice Approaching the 1000m was checked when crowded by Hide the Ace, which when racing keenly was steadied and carried inwards by Other Way (M Dolendo), which shifted in when not fully clear. M Dolendo was reprimanded for careless riding (AR137(a)). Footy Socks Raced greenly in the early stages. Other Way Approaching the 1000m when racing keenly was steadied when crowded. Over the concluding stages had to be eased when awkwardly placed close to the heels of Stitchery, which shifted out. Stitchery Approaching the 200m shifted in abruptly, when placed under pressure. Inside the final 150m raced greenly and laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. Where s Mexaar Began awkwardly. Approaching the 800m was steadied after improving onto the heels of Elite Colours. RACE 3: Sidney & Hacking Maiden Handicap 1300m: All Collate Bumped on jumping. El Toby Raced greenly in the early stages. Flying Snip Began awkwardly. Mrs Boole Shortly after the start the mare got its tongue caught over the bit and as a result raced fiercely during the early and middle stages and was inclined the hang out for the remainder of the event. Trainer Mr B Ahrens was advised that a warning would be placed on the racing record on the mare, on the provision that he experiment with the mares approved race gear so that the issue is rectified, prior to its next start. My Crystal Billy Bumped on jumping. Approaching the 1200m was steadied when crowded by El Toby, which when racing greenly shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider. Trey Bit - Withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 1.29pm on veterinary advice after the gelding was found to be lame in its near fore leg. Stewards subsequently ordered that all monies placed on Trey Bit be refunded in full and with regards to betting with bookmakers all successful wagers made prior to 1.29pm to be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket: 1 st ) Skysail less 1 cents win, 1 cents place 2 nd ) Chantilly Chateau less 3 cents place 3 rd ) Mrs Boole less 2 cents place 2
Trainer Mr E Ensby was advised a full veterinary clearance must be provided prior to the geldings next start. Trusted Love Began awkwardly and bumped with My Crystal Billy shortly after. Approaching the 1200m was steadied when awkwardly placed to the inside of Flying Senorita (S Drake), which shifted in slightly. S Drake was asked to exercise more care in future. RACE 4: Kevin Hogan MP Class 1 Handicap 1516m: All But Crowded at the start. Big Tomee Change of tactics: to lead the event; led. Approaching and passing the 1100m took charge of its rider and raced fiercely for a short distance. Crusader Rabbit Bumped on jumping. Raced wide in the middle stages. Rounding the home turn was inclined to lay out. Flower of Youth Bumped on jumping. Hippodamia Bumped on jumping. Madame Bollinger Bumped on jumping. Passing the 50m was steadied when hampered by the weakening Big Tomee. True to Form Raced wide throughout the event. Warship Raced wide in the middle stages. RACE 5: Fuji Xerox Lismore Maiden Plate 1100m: Birdie Brown Began awkwardly at the start and shifted out abruptly. Near the 250m was hampered and carried wider when awkwardly placed close to heels. Glamorgan Boy Laid out rounding the home turn. Jetty Beach Raced wide without cover throughout the event. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding, which was beaten 25.8L revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Ms J Hardy was advised that a warning for being uncompetitive would be placed on the racing record of the gelding. Rider S Traecey was reminded on his obligation, where applicable, to ride all mounts out to the line in a manner, which leaves no room for query. Monty Zooms Near the 650m hung out and was steadied. Rougissante Between the 300m and 250 shifted out under pressure and as result hampered Birdie Brown. Shrewd n Drac Crowded at the start. Snip of Royalty When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, rider K Matheson explained he rode with vigour in the early stages to establish a forward position, however passing the 1000m after urging his mount along, he was unable to muster sufficient speed to cross the leaders and obtain position 3
closer to the rail and as a result was forced to raced wide throughout the middle stages. K Matheson said that rounding the turn near the 600m his mount was inclined to race on one rein and rounding the home turn hung outwards and ran wider on the track. K Matheson added the gelding responded to urgings, however felt the effects of a wide run throughout the early and middle stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RACE 6: Lord s Taverners Northern NSW Benchmark 55 Handicap 1400m: Desperate Dan Pulled hard in the early stages. Lady Jesse Near the 1100m was bumped by Meanjin and became unbalanced. Man of Persia Passing the 1000m had to be steadied after improving onto heels. Approaching the 100m was unable to obtain fully clear running until passing the 50m. Meanjin Over the concluding stages was eased when crowded by Valintine Girl, which shifted in. Sheeda Gal Passing the 1000m had to be steadied after improving onto heels. RACE 7: Trinity Lismore Cup Benchmark 50 Handicap 1200m: Cearnach When questioned regarding the performance, apprentice Ms S Polo explained she rode her mount along in the early stages in an attempt to take up a forward position, however her mount was unable to muster sufficient speed to cross the leaders and as a result raced in a three wide position for some distance in the middle stages. Ms S Polo said that her mount responded to her urgings when placed under pressure passing the 400m, however over the final 200m compounded in its run to the line. Ms S Polo added that in her opinion the gelding was unable to run out a strong 1200m after being caught wide and subsequently felt the effects under the allotted weight of 58.5kgs, after the claim. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Chilli Zaim Began awkwardly at the start. Grey Dazzler Buffeted at the top of the straight between Survival Miss and Finno. Just Elusive Buffeted between runners shortly after the start. Kentucky Chick Near the 700m when inclined to hang out and was steadied from the heels of Wungong Sax. Between the 600m and the 500m was again inclined to hang out. Passing the 200m was momentarily held up for clear running, when awkwardly placed on the heels of the weakening Cearnach. Mossalicious Bumped on jumping. Shadow Boss Began awkwardly. Survival Miss Hampered on jumping. 4
Want a Chat Passing the 900m was inclined to lay in and shortly after changed stride and shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider. Wungong Sax Shortly after the start was steadied when momentarily crowded by Indigo Jade (M Dolendo), which shifted out. M Dolendo was asked to exercise more care in future. Passing the 900m had to be checked to avoid the heels of Want a Chat, which shifted out abruptly.
