Ryan advised in the days subsequent that the gelding was displaying signs of a respiratory infection and it would be treated accordingly. General: Trainer Mr B. Dodson was fined $500 for having two substances on his registered stable premises on the morning of Tuesday 26 May 2015 that were not obtained, dispensed or labelled in accordance with the relevant State and Commonwealth legislation (AR80E). Hammersley (Our Blevic) RACE 1: 3YO Plate 1425m La Festiva Eased when momentarily tightened between runners at the entrance to the straight. La Spiaggia Bumped on jumping. Life At Sea Slow to begin. Nomoretenmore Bumped on jumping and eased shortly after when tightened for room. Skipper (NZ) Bumped on hindquarter and unbalanced on jumping. RACE 2: F&M Maiden Handicap 1120m: 1
Adayondek Near the 100m was eased when tightened for room. Cinda Blue Began awkwardly. Overraced in the middle stages. Fox Creek At the entrance to the straight became held up on heels and was unable to be fully tested until passing the 250m. Near the 150m was momentarily eased when tightened between runners. Just Imagine Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Kyoto Rose Slow to begin and eased from heels shortly after. Checked from heels passing the 1000m. Lucinate Threw head up shortly after the start. Shifted in under pressure over the final 200m. Victory Parade Laid out under pressure from the entrance to the straight until approaching the 200m. Laid in under pressure between the 150m and 50m and was unable to be fully tested. A post race veterinary examination of the filly did not reveal any abnormality. Wonderful Cugat Trainer Mr T. Fletcher was fined $100 for failing to add blinkers to the filly s approved race gear before acceptance time (AR140B). Began awkwardly and was eased when tightened between runners shortly after. Near the 800m was checked for a number of strides whilst inclined to hang out across the heels of Kyoto Rose which was inclined to lay in away from Lucinate which shifted in at that point. B. Looker (Lucinate) was issued a reprimand (AR137(a)). Inclined to lay out in the middle stages and down the straight. RACE 3: C,G&E Maiden Handicap 1120m: Garradeen Trainer Mr S. Hardy was fined $50 for failing to add a tail chain to the geldings approved race gear before acceptance time (AR140B). Overraced in the early stages. Honolua Bay - Inclined to overrace in the early stages. Shrewd n Drac Raced wide throughout the early and middle stages. Tommy s Hi Unable to improve rounding the home turn when held up for clear running. Whippy Kick Slow to begin and steadied shortly after when tightened between runners. Eased when tightened for room passing the 900m. Wild Blue Yonder Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Inclined to overrace in the early stages. Shifted out under pressure over the final 200m. RACE 4: Benchmark 60 Handicap 1220m: Caravel Bumped on jumping. Near the 800m was steadied when awkwardly placed on heels. Approaching the 100m was eased from heels. When questioned 2
regarding the performance of the gelding apprentice Ms M. Graham stated that her mount was slightly slow to begin and settled behind the leaders. Ms Graham stated that her mount was inclined to overrace in the early and middle stages behind a moderate tempo. Ms Graham stated that when the leaders sprinted her mount was unable to sprint with them and went to the line in a fair manner. Ms Graham stated that her mount was not suited by the sit and sprint tactics of todays event and in her opinion performs best when able to settle behind a fast tempo and sustain an uninterrupted run to the line. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormality. Choruses Eased when buffeted between runners shortly after the start. Hula Girl Eased when carried inwards and tightened for room approaching the 1000m. Near the 250m was eased when disappointed for a run. Passing the 200m was eased for a number of strides when disappointed for a run. Kyamba s Destiny Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Nautile Bumped on jumping. Unable to improve rounding the home turn and at the entrance to the straight when held up on heels. Racecraft Eased when bumped inwards across heels shortly after the start. Star of Legs Checked when tightened between runners shortly after the start. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. RACE 5: Benchmark 65 Handicap 2225m: Key Lodge Raced wide in the early stages. Momentarily eased from heels at the entrance to the straight. Kingston Time Trainer Mr P. Grills was reprimanded for failing to ensure the gelding was attended at all times whilst on course (AR80C). More Than Aholiday Overraced in the early stages. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to have a poor recovery. Rapidus Unable to improve between the 500m and 400m when held up on heels. Would Be a Bonus Overraced rounding the first turn. Unable to improve between the 550m and 450m when held up on heels. RACE 6: Class 2 Plate 1120m: Art s Got a Gun Unable to improve approaching the 300m when awkwardly placed on the heels of Outback Carlson which shifted out under pressure at that point. Apprentice Ms B. Ainsworth (Outback Carlson) was reprimanded (AR137(a)). Few Are Chosen Began awkwardly and unbalanced its rider for a short distance. Buffeted between runners shortly after the start. 3
Hotel Drive Inclined to overrace between the 1000m and 700m. Approaching the 900m was eased when awkwardly placed on heels. Raced wide in the middle stages. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding jockey R. Spokes stated that he anticipated leading the event however his mount was slow to begin and settled in a handy mid position. R. Spokes added that his mount was obliged to race wide without cover in the middles stages and when placed under pressure in the straight it responded only fairly and was disappointing in its run to the line. R. Spokes stated that his mount may need to lead to perform at its best. When questioned, trainer Mr S. Henley stated that he was at a loss to explain the performance and he had expected a forward showing from the gelding. Mr Henley advised that he would provide the results of a blood sample collected from the gelding the day subsequent to the event and further he would start the gelding in an official barrier trial prior to its next race start to ensure nothing is amiss. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to have a poor recovery. Just Elusive (NZ) Threw head up on jumping. Overraced in the early stages. Smincha Overraced in the early stages. Watchandwait Bumped on hindquarter and unbalanced shortly after the start. RACE 7: Class 3 Handicap 1625m: Camayoc Eased after improving onto heels near the 500m. Unable to improve rounding the home turn when held up on heels. Foranotherday (NZ) Laid in under pressure over the final 200m and was unable to be fully tested. Trainer Mr J. Shelton will be interviewed regarding the racing manners of the gelding at a date to be fixed. Geecup Momentarily eased when awkwardly placed on heels near the 150m. Hawaiian Princess Passing the 100m was steadied when awkwardly placed on heels. Lord Zof Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Eased from heels at the entrance to the straight. Our Blevic Overraced near the 1300m. The Hum Raced wide in the middle stages. Who Is Game Laid out under pressure down the straight. Willowvale Lad Hampered near the 1300m. Ran out rounding the first turn. Eased when tightened for room passing the 300m. SWABS: Swab samples were taken from all winners, La Spiaggia, Adayondek and Zizou s Dream. 4
