Santa Barbara will carry a 23-game homecourt winning streak - second-longest in the nation behind only National Champion UConn - into the 2003-04 season. That streak will be tested as the Gauchos host four teams which joined them in the last year's Big Dance, in addition to at least one round of the Preseason WNIT. UCSB was also selected as one of 16 host sites for the first and second round of the 2004 NCAA Tournament. For the first time since 1992 and 1993, the Gauchos made back-toback appearances in the second round of the Big Dance. Last season No. 7 UCSB won it's first-ever NCAA game as a higher-seeded team by defeating No. 10 Xavier in first round play 71-62 before falling at second-seeded Texas Tech by a 72-68 margin. UCSB is one of one of only six programs in the country that had two of its players gain international experience with USA Basketball this summer. Honorable mention All-American Lindsay Taylor competed in the Pan American Games, while fellow First Team All-Big West honoree Kristen Mann represented her country in the FIBA World Championships for Young Women. Two other returning Gaucho starters also earned postseason acclaim in 2002-03. Sophomores Mia Fisher and Brandy Richardson were both honorable mention All-Big West performers a year ago. Highlighting Santa Barbara's five newcomers are a pair of Division I transfers, point guard April McDivitt and post player Kate Bauman.
