Page 2 PRESIDENT S MESSAGE Hi Everyone, As we close 2018, we reflect back on the many challenges we each faced throughout the year - health, loss, fires, mudslides and more. But we also pause to say thanks for the many blessings. I d like to thank my Board of Directors, committee members, trail bosses, cook crew and everyone who has volunteered to help us on our rides, meetings and events. We couldn't have done it without your help! To all of them and all of you...thank YOU! I m sad to announce that after many years with the Corral, Mary Timmer has stepped down as Vice President, Editor and Webmaster. Thank you for all of years of service Mary! In 2019, the membership dues for individual and family memberships were increased to offset the rising cost of insurance. The new rate will be $60 for individual memberships and $60 plus $15 per family member for the family membership. We have a very exciting 2019 Ride Schedule planned! We will also be joining with the San Fernando Rangers and Saddle Sore Riders for some fun rides and Pioneertown is back on the schedule for 2019!!! January 24th is our General Meeting. We will be installing our Officers so come out and join us!! January 27th is our 10th Annual Memorial Doc Larsen/Bert Bonnett Chili Ride in Lakeview Terrace. Tiffanie Bailey, our Trail Coordinator, will be leading this ride. Prize winning chili and corn bread will be served. Please get your reservations in to Tiffanie. February 16th is our Cheri Blue Ride at Malibu Creek State Park led by Paul Jacques. Please let Paul know if you will be attending the ride. The rangers said the grass is growing in nicely. March 9-10th is our Mulligan Stew Ride camp out at Mojave Narrows. Please RSVP to Billie McGuire (flyer attached). March 23rd is our Day at the Races. Each ticket includes a lunch entree, a program, parking, and a private betting area. Only 40 tickets available so please get your tickets now! Here's wishing you and your families a 2019 filled with good health, happiness, peace, and laughter! See you on the trail, Kat

Horsin Around Page 5 2018 Annual Christmas Party The 10th Annual Corral 22 Christmas party was a great success! We enjoyed appetizers and cocktails until everyone arrived. We had a fabulous spread of potluck dishes including Bill s smoked brisket, babyback ribs, corn casserole, fruit cobbler and mudslides to name a few. During dinner, all of us caught up with the news and mingled with new guests. Afterwards, we had our traditional silent auction that included a cast iron dutch oven, handmade jewelry, saddle blankets, a leather headstall and gift cards. Guests, Annie & Jessie Barrios, won the gift basket of movie tickets, horse treats and wine! Sharon won the wool saddle blanket and Tom won the headstall! A goodie bag of horse treats and gift cards were given to each of our board members (as a special thanks for all their dedication & extra effort throughout the year). Thanks to Tom for providing the music and Tina and Antoinette for helping with the auction. A great time was had by everyone and that s what it s all about! Kathleen Smart

Page 7 Horsin Around 2018 50th Annual Christmas Ride On December 16th, twenty-three riders gathered at Martinez Arena to celebrate C22 s 50th Annual Christmas Ride at Griffith Park!!! We were blessed with perfect weather that day, clear and sunny. Paul Jacques led the group along the North trail to Amir s garden then down to the Old Zoo. The views along the trail were incredible! We took a short break at the Old Zoo where some of us took a photo op in front of the old animal cages. After the break, the group headed to Crystal park where the cook crew was ready for us with a fabulous lunch. Seven non-riders met us for lunch including Dwayne Gipson who came all the way from Norco! Special thanks to Paul for leading the ride and to our cooks, Walt Conner, Jim Renze and Tina Pollard for their delicious 1/3 lb burgers, potato salad and brownies. Thank you to Patty Hug, Patty Munsen, Susy Martin for preparing all the fixings. Thank you to Tom Smart and neighbor Jessie Barrios for managing the drinks, poker and raffle table. Larry Isbell (Tehachapi) won the award for Oldest Horse, and Aleta Bird (Simi Valley) won Oldest Rider award. First and Second-place costumes went to sisters Katharine Ferrell (Acton) and C86 s Vicki Marshall (Palmdale). Larry also won the poker hand with a FULL HOUSE! The raffle basket of goodies went to Bill & Tina Pollard! Thanks again to everyone who helped make this milestone a very successful ride! We look forward to next year s Christmas ride!
