COMMODORE: JEFF UPHOLZER 734.775.7598 jeff@upholzer.com Greetings SunSeekers, June was an awesome month of boating for Lady Teri and I. The weekend weather was picture perfect nearly every weekend, and there is so much going on that it s hard to pack it all in. I can only hope that the rest of the summer is just as great. As most of you know by now, I was able to bring home another victory for SunSeeker s at this year s $1.98 Dance at TSC. This makes it four years in a row for SSBC! A feat only matched by CCYC s five in a row many many years ago. Truth be told, there were two things that made our victory happen. First, it was an awesome concept that was hatched and executed to perfection by Lady Teri, my stepdaughter Kahley and Nikole Gilstorf. Second, it was all about the SunSeeker crowd that got behind us and supported us like there was no tomorrow. Kevin and Pam Towle graciously organized the bus, and just as many came down in their own vehicles. By my estimation, we had close to 90 people there cheering for our club to win. I can't thank each and every one of you enough for helping me pull this off. I love you all!!!! #init2winit Coming up on July 15-16 is the annual SSBC Luau. We are one again going to have this event next door to our club at Humbug Marina. V/C Jeannette has a great plan to take this year s event up another notch. So please get behind her, and also pitch in and get involved. We have a great opportunity to make this a community wide event that showcases SunSeeker s to a much broader audience. And if we play our cards right, I can see our club on the path to getting into the AYC Poker Run rotation, should we choose to do so. Lots of hurdles to cross in the meantime, but I am excited to see where this could go. Another new and exciting chapter for SunSeekers is the launch of a Jack of Spades opportunity drawing. SSBC received approval to hold the raffle from the State of Michigan on June 10, 2016. Drawings will be held each Tuesday at Buster s Place at 6:45pm. The first drawing was on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 and there will be 53 more drawings to follow. This is a great fundraising opportunity for our club. In June, Lady Teri and I attended the Grosse Ile Yacht Club Ball, the Opening of the Islands at Ford Yacht Club, Wyandotte Boat Club s Cocktail Reception, Point Place Boat Club's Poker Run, Toledo Sailing Club s Cocktail Reception, Cooley Canal Yacht Club's Cocktail Reception, Harbor View Yacht Club s Cocktail Reception and LEOPA s Spring Run out of DBBC. This month we will be attending Swan Boat Club s Poker Run and Cocktail Reception, Boyne Thunder Offshore Run, Riverview Yacht Club s Cocktail Reception, Perrysburg Boat Club s Cocktail Reception, Monroe Boat Club s Cocktail Reception, Nugent Canal s Poker Run and Cocktail Reception and Grosse Ile Yacht Club s Cocktail Reception. Last, but not least, we will be attending the SSBC Luau! See you on the docks or at the club! Jeff Upholzer 2016 Commodore

VICE COMMODORE: JEANNETTE FOLEY 734.626.9306 jeannettefoley@ymail.com Hello fellow Sunseekers! Summer is in full swing and I couldn t be happier! It s great seeing everyone out and about enjoying the waters! Soak it up while you can.i know I am!! Wow, June was an exciting month for Sunseekers good things are happening at the club! Just last night I attended the first of our Jack of Spades drawings. Sandi LaFrance did a great job MC ing the raffle and keeping everyone on their toes as the first ticket was pulled. Hopefully this progressive raffle will turn into a great fundraiser for our club Kudos to everyone that has kicked off this great idea! During the month of June, Mark and I attended the Opening of the Islands, Blessing of the Fleet at Ford Yacht Club. Thanks to Commodore Jeff and Lady Teri for providing the transportation over aboard Livin it Up it was a gorgeous weekend. Speaking of the word gorgeous. Congratulations to Commodore Jeff for winning the $1.98 Beauty Contest at Toledo Sailing Club. What an exciting honor to bring home the 4 th consecutive win for Sunseekers a job well done! No pressure here EEEEEK! Many thanks go out to Kevin and Pam Towle for organizing the bus trip down to TSC. There were so many Sunseekers there to cheer on our angelic Commodore it really was awesome! Way to go everyone!! Looking ahead, the 4 th of July Gibraltar parade is right around the corner. Please drop off candy donations (nothing that melts) to the club so that the Jr. Sunseekers riding on the float will have candy to toss out to the watching crowd. The kids always have a good time riding in the parade! Next on our list is Sunseeker s Luau on the Lake! It s scheduled for July 15 th & 16 th!! Friday night will be pizza and live entertainment by Acoustic Dust at the clubhouse. Saturday will be packed full of fun and games starting at 1:00pm. We ll have burgers, hotdogs, and brats available for purchase and remember it s BYOB at Humbug Marina. There will be music all day and night. Live entertainment in the afternoon starts with Don Coats, along with DJ Rap Master Matt spinning some tunes for us. Saturday evening s live entertainment will be the Top Shelf Tuna band. We ll need a lot of support to pull off this spectacular event. Remember, there are sign up sheets at the club to volunteer your time in all the areas needed. Also, make sure to get your dock reservations in to Fleet Captain Chad Gronda. It s sure to be a great weekend full of fun activities! Plans are being finalized for the SSBC Dinghy Thingy on August 6 th. Tickets will go on sale for members and guests for the first couple weeks of July and then if it doesn t sell out we ll open it up to more guests. Be sure to get your tickets early so you don t miss out on this annual awesome event! Please remember to support Rear Commodore, Jerry Hollis, as these summer months are difficult to find bartenders. If you don t know how to bartend just ask, we ll be happy to show you it s really a lot of fun! Also, remember to stop in at the club after those boat rides to cool off with a few beverages or even plan a fun occasion. Anyone can have a party! This is your club So Stop Up Often! See ya up there V/C Jeannette Foley

REAR COMMODORE: JERRY HOLLIS Fellow Sunseeker s Well summer is in full swing now. June has been a busy month. Lady Anna and I have been very busy mixed with some fun. We attended the Point Place Poker Run and Commodore Cocktail reception the first weekend of June, Opening of the Islands on June 11 th, then the Harbor View Yacht club Regatta and Cocktail Reception on June 25 th. And this is only our Rear Commodore year whewww. On to bar news, I am very excited to say the new soda fountain system is installed. This new system has two ice chest at each end of the bar sink. Try to keep ice in these at all times. When we have events they can be filled completely up and used as ice for drinks. If you have any questions please let me know. Any feedback or suggestions is welcome. The bartender saga continues however, big thanks to those of you who have been helping. It is much appreciated. If anyone else is interested in learning how to bartend, please let me know I would be more than happy to show you. We have over 120 members in our club yet we have only a few people that help with portion. In July, we have some events coming up that we will need a lot of our member s support and participation. Please keep in mind when we are the host for our events, we need to shine for those coming in. I ve witnessed some good examples recently where club members are hard at work for the good of their club. We can take turns having fun but being a host is a privilege and honor. Not to mention an opportunity to exemplify our pride and camaraderie with one another and for our club. Stay Thirsty My Friends, Jerry Hollis Rear Commodore

FLEET CAPTAIN: Chad Gronda 734-717-3949 Hello Sunseekers, It's July already and boating season is in full swing. The first poker run of the season was in June at Pointe Place Boat Club. Sunseeker's came out in full force. SSBC did not win on this Poker Run, but it was a close win in the mileage department, we lost by one boat. Let's try to get out and see what we can do on the next Poker Run at Swan boat club. I would like to congratulate Commodore Jeff Upholzer on his win at the 1.98 dance, what a great time we all had and who know the Commodore was into stuff like that. I would like to thank Kevin and Pam Towle for arranging the bus to TSC, what a great time we have on the bus trip. The next poker run is scheduled for July 3rd-5th at Swan Boat Club. For those of you that are attending the poker run by boat please let me know what day and approximate time you are planning so I can keep SBC Dock Master informed. If you have any questions about how to get there, please let me know. I will do everything I can to get you there safely. SBC Dock Master and Fleet Captain will be monitoring VHF channel 69 the entire weekend. Come find Lady LeeAnn or myself, have a drink on our boat and sign the attendance book. 2016 POKER RUN AND EVENT INFORMATION June 3-4: Point Place Boat Club July 1-2: Swan Boat Club July 22-23: Nugent s Canal Yacht Club Aug 19-20: Ford Yacht Club Sept 9-10: Detroit Beach Boat Club Thanks Chad Gronda 2016 SSBC Fleet Captain
