Please consider placing a donation for the Food Cupboard in the blue bin marked Food Cupboard, inside the cafeteria entrance. (You may also send it in with your student to the Main Office.) During the month of January, the Cupboard needs: Pasta, spaghetti/pasta sauce in plastic jars, rice, noodles, and beans. Any items that you can spare are always gratefully accepted. Page 5 Student Recognition On Saturday, December 8 th, 2018, Fugett s robotics team We are OTTER Space received the first place Champions Trophy at the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Qualifier held at the Westtown School. Fourteen teams participated at this event based on FLL s INTO ORBIT theme. The students completed a project that defined and solved a problem associated with long-term space exploration, engineered and programmed a LEGO robot to complete various FLL-designed missions, gave a presentation that showcased its understanding of robot design and programming, and demonstrated their understanding and application of FIRST Core Values (Discovery, Innovation, Impact, Inclusion, Teamwork, and Fun). They look forward to participating in the Penn FLL Regional Championship on Saturday, February 9, 2019. Please congratulate these students for their hard work and dedication. Page 6 SPORTS IN THE COUGAR S DEN! Fugett Sports for the Week of January 21st Intramural Wrestling 6 th grade intramural wrestling will begin in late January and 6 th grade basketball begins in mid-february. Students should listen for announcements about start dates and times. Students and Parents should be reminded that the expectation of a student athlete has always been that they are ambassadors of the school and represent the school when traveling to an away game. For the safety of all students and for the image that, as a school, Fugett wants to portray to others, any misbehavior on the bus or at an away game will not be tolerated and there will be consequences for poor student behavior. Fugett students have been regarded as exceptional young men and women who treat others with respect and exhibit good sportsmanship. We do not want to tarnish this image.

Page 11 Special Announcements What is DECA? 8th Grade Workshop On Thursday, January 31st East High School DECA is inviting all 8 th graders to experience one of the largest DECA chapters in the state of Pennsylvania. DECA is a co-curricular organization for emerging leaders and entrepreneurs interested in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. Our students combine their academic, speaking and interpersonal skills to compete with students from around the world. Last year East DECA took 34 students to the international conference in Atlanta, GA; this February we will take 151 students to the state conference in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Our What is DECA? workshop will be held from 2:30 4:00pm at East High School. We will serve pizza and hold interactive student run workshops on marketing, finance, management, and hospitality. Let our officers share their amazing DECA experiences regarding competition and travel with your child. Details: A permission slip will be attached to this message and can also be found on the Fugett webpage and in the main office. All permission slips can be turned into the Fugett main office, or emailed to Carol Lill at clill@wcasd.net. Please submit permission slip by Jan. 29 so we can have our final count. An East DECA student will meet the group of attendees in the main lobby of Fugett on Thursday, January 31st at 2:20. They will then take attendance and proceed over to EHS. Pick up will be at the main entrance of EHS at 4pm. Check out our website to find out more about us: www.wceastdeca.wordpress.com or check out international DECA at www.deca.org. Please contact Carol Lill, East DECA Advisor, at clill@wcasd.net with any questions.
