We are pleased to announce that we are once again offering an Easter Seminar at Rink #2 Glacier Arena in Mt. Pearl. The coaches for this seminar will be Paige Aistrop and Joey Russell. Garnet Suidy will provide the off ice portion of the seminar. Paige Aistrop Started Coaching in 1997 for Mariposa School of Skating - 2014 Coached at Toronto Granite Club from Sept 2002-2007 Coach at the Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club April 2010-Present 2008-Present Co-Creator and Co-Owner of MySkateCoach.com a website that sells figure skating lessons globally online. We have 20 elite coaches on board and mysk8coach has produced more than 800 individual video lessons for skaters, coaches and parents to purchase online. Joey Russell Joey has been a Figure Skater for 20 years. Originally from Newfoundland and Labrador, he has lived and trained all over Canada. Some career highlights include: Junior Canadian Champion, Senior Canadian Bronze Medalist, and Canadian National and World Championship Team Member. After competitive skating, Joey toured as a show skater for 3 years. Now, a skating choreographer in Toronto, he works with all levels of skaters and travels across North America conducting seminars, choreographing, and performing touch-ups for athletes. NCCP certified, he is passionate in packaging skaters and choreographing programs which are unique and competitive. Garnet Suidy Innovation and excitement are what drives Garnet. Having spent most of his life as a competitive figure skater, he has been fortunate enough to experience and study many different styles of movement around the globe working with various coaches and professionals in many different fields, including: skating, bodyart, Pilates, yoga, strength and conditioning, dance, martial arts, acrobatics, performing arts and osteopathy. He believes that engaging and challenging your body, as well as your mind, in as many ways as possible is key to accessing athletic potential and developing a healthy mind, body, and spirit. Garnet competed nationally and internationally, representing Canada and Finland. He is the resident off-ice instructor at the Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club and works with skaters of all levels including multiple National, International and Olympic level skaters.
SEMINAR The 3 day seminar has been scheduled for Monday, March 28 th through Wednesday, March 30th for our StarSkate and Competitive skaters. The seminar will include off-ice fitness, choreography, and mental focus. All in all it promises to be a highly educational and exciting seminar. ELIGIBILITY Singles: Star 4, Star 5, Senior Bronze, Junior Silver, Senior Silver, Gold, PreJuvenile, Juvenile, PreNovice, Novice and all higher competitive levels. (If space permits we will consider other levels) Submission of application does not guarantee acceptance. Confirmation will be issued later. Actual groupings of skaters will be completed after all applications are received. REGISTRATION FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE with Avalon Region Members being selected first, followed by any Outside our Region Skaters who support our off season schools on the closing date of March 10 2016. Email address is mandatory for schedule updates, cancellations etc. General Notes Participants must provide their own lunches as well as off-ice fitness clothing and sneakers. Professional coaches and judges are encouraged to attend at no cost to observe the program and increase their own knowledge and teaching skills. RELEASE In consideration of its benefits awarded to us by acceptance of this application, the undersigned agrees to save and hold blameless the Avalon Region, its professional coaches and officers, for any claims and injuries sustained while attending the seminar or during its sessions or for loss of property. The undersigned agrees to abide by all rules of the school and of Skate Canada as set forth in the rule book of that association and will be responsible and pay promptly for all lessons and sessions booked for the skater in this application.
