2018 BELIEVE YOUNG STARZ 2018 END OF YEAR PRODUCTION INFORMATION PACK

INTRODUCTION Each year, Dynamite Studios Australia host two end of year productions at HOTA Gold Coast. These are held in the main Arts Theatre over three separate days. The first day, Friday 14 th of December 2018, is a full technical rehearsal for all Young Starz students involved in the end of year production. The second day, Saturday 15 th of December 2018, is dedicated to our Itsy Bitsy Starz Students (Ready, Set to 8 Years & Under) with a rehearsal and show. The following day, Sunday 16 th of December 2018, is for our Young Starz students (9-10 Years and Over), with a full-dress rehearsal, and evening show to follow. To assist you in identifying which classes will perform in each of the productions, the weekly class timetable has been labelled with Itsy Bitsy Starz and Young Starz. This can be located on the resource page on the website, as well as attached in this document. Any class that is labelled Young Starz will be a part of the production held on Sunday the 16 th of December 2018. Events such as the end of year production give all students a wonderful experience, where they can perform all the skills and talents they have learnt throughout the year. Given that we do have two productions that are often themed differently and require different information, we have split the ever-so-helpful concert information pack into two separate packs. In the Young Starz production information pack, you will find details on what is required for each student to participate in the end of year production. The extra no-cost rehearsals, hair and make-up requirements etc., as well as a How to purchase tickets and USB s. Also, enclosed, you will find information regarding costumes, shoes, stockings and what is involved in the big day. Please note that all enrolled students are assumed to be participating in the end of year productions unless you have informed administration otherwise, prior to term three commencing. If, after reading the Young Starz production information pack, you have any further questions, please do not hesitate in contacting us via email at admin@dsa.com.au or via phone on 0418 654 302. A special note to our new parents sometimes we forget that this may be your first time. Please let us know if you are a new concert mum/dad. It can be a bit overwhelming and strange, particularly if you are new to the studio, or have never been a part of an end of year production. It is such a busy time and it is easy to make a mistake or overlook something. We sincerely welcome you to this time of celebration, and administration will be more than happy to answer your questions. We would like to ensure that the end of year production is a fabulous experience for each and every one of our students, as it is a celebration of what they have learnt throughout the year. Warm Regards, TEAM DSA

REHEARSALS Extra rehearsals apply to ALL students participating in the end of year production. There is a lot of extra time and effort put into making these events a big success. However, this requires a real effort & commitment from everyone to ensure that all students attend rehearsals. This will assist in making the events run as smoothly as possible. So please, if parents and students can support this process and attend all extra rehearsals that have been scheduled, it would be greatly appreciated. Rehearsal dates, times and venues will be published in the DSA newsletter and on the DSA yearly calendar (located on our website). You must take the time to regularly check them. Please take special care that all is understood and if you are unsure, please ask prior to the rehearsal dates. Not all students are required to attend all rehearsals, so it is extremely important that each family is aware of what is going on at all times. Please make special note that all dress rehearsals require ALL hair but NO make-up to be done. Dress rehearsals require students to bring all costumes to rehearse in. Under NO circumstance is a student to arrive at any rehearsal in costume. There will be allocated dressing rooms for students to get changed into their costume/s. We cannot stress enough how important it is that all belongings are clearly labelled with the student s name. All parents are to ensure that their child/ren have plenty of food, and most importantly every child MUST have their own water bottle. Food should be stored in appropriate lunch boxes or containers. We ask that NO student brings valuables to the extra rehearsal days or on the day of the production, as DSA takes NO responsibility for any items lost, damaged or misplaced. HOW REHEARSALS WILL RUN AT DSA Below, you will find a step-by-step guide on how each rehearsal will run, and what is required of both parents/guardians and students on the rehearsal day. SUNDAY PRODUCTION REHEARSAL ADDRESS Dynamite Studios Australia 31/3 Dalton Street, Upper Coomera ARRIVING AT THE REHEARSAL VENUE: A.) B.) C.) D.) If parents/guardians are going to park their vehicles, they are to park in the designated grassed parking area, located opposite to the studio complex. Under no circumstances is anyone to park in the complex, or in surrounding residential car parks. Once finding a park, we ask all parents/guardians to walk their child/ren to the entrance of the studio where you will be greeted by the DSA helpers/supervisors. Parents who are not parking must use the carpark system. Driving in the first driveway, dropping students at the designated drop off zone and continuing to drive out the second driveway, however, please keep in mind there is to be NO queuing in complex when dropping off. Once you have completed all of the above steps, you may leave rest assured that your child/ren are in the capable hands of our helpers. 2. REHEARSAL TO COMMENCE: Once all students have arrived we will commence rehearsal. Please keep in mind that we do like to run by the timetable, and in order for everything to run on schedule, we do need to ensure that everyone arrives on time. A later rehearsal start means a later rehearsal finish, so your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated. 3. COLLECTION: The collection will run exactly as the drop off process, only this time you will be collecting your children from the left-hand side of the DSA building (on the roller door side of the building, right near the regular car park drop off point). Below is a little re-cap on what is required. A.) B.) C.) If parents/guardians are going to park their vehicles, they are to park in the designated grassed parking area, located opposite to the studio complex. Under no circumstances is anyone to park in the complex, or in surrounding residential car parks. Once finding a park, we ask all parents/guardians to walk to the designated pick up zone where you will be greeted by the DSA helpers/supervisors and your child/ren. As per the diagram below, you will see that you need to make your way to the left-hand side of the DSA building, and meet a help who will assist in locating your child/ren. If for some reason someone other than yourself is collecting your child/ren we as that you please inform Miss Teegan at administration prior to the rehearsal commencing. While we know, you will be super excited to have your child/ren back in your company, one of the most important things to remember when collecting your child/ren is to not get too excited and barricade the entry and exit points. No parent/guardian will need to enter either of the buildings as your child/ren will be waiting in the pick-up area once they are ready to go.

We will ensure that each student has everything before they leave, and as you can understand, this can take time. We ask for your patience while we do this. We ask that you are all patient with this process, it can sometimes take time however is in place for the safety of all students.

TECHNICAL REHEARSALS AT HOTA DSA production technical rehearsals are held the day before the production itself. The technical rehearsal is a full run through of the of the production on HOTA Gold Coast (GC) stage. This gives the students the opportunity to rehearse with all props, lighting and sound before the big performance. Please note that the technical rehearsal is compulsory for all students involved in the end of year production. Drop off and collection for rehearsals at HOTA GC will run a little differently to that of the Sunday rehearsals at DSA. Outlined below is a brief description of what is required. 1. ARRIVING AT THE REHEARSAL VENUE: A.) All parents/guardians are to park their vehicles in the designated HOTA GC car park. Please be mindful that HOTA offers both free and paid parking Monday through to Sunday, please make special note of this when parking to avoid receiving a parking ticket. B.) Once finding a park, all parents/guardians will need to make their way with their child/ren to the stage door, located at the rear of HOTA, closest side to the lake. C.) As you approach the stage door, you will be greeted by the production helpers/supervisors that will direct students to their allocated dressing rooms. D.) Once you have completed all of the above steps, you may leave rest assured that your chid/ren are in the capable hands of our helpers, who all hold current Working with Children Blue Cards.

2. REHEARSAL TO COMMENCE: Once all students have arrived, we will commence the technical rehearsal. Please keep in mind that we do like to run by the timetable, and in order for everything to run on time, we do need to ensure that everyone arrives on time. A later rehearsal start means a later rehearsal finish, so your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated. Please endeavour to be on time. 3. COLLECTION: The collection will run exactly as the drop off process, only this time you will be collecting your children from the left-hand side of the courtyard. Below is a little re-cap on what is required. A.) All parents/guardians are to park their vehicles in the designated HOTA GC car park. B.) Once finding a park, all parents/guardians will need to make their way to the stage door located at the rear of HOTA, closest side to the lake. We ask that you please give us enough time to gather all student s belongings, and assemble them ready for you to collect. We ask that only parents/guardians come and collect your child/ren, and that you please wait in the designated areas to avoid blocking the stage door. We will ensure that each student has everything before you leave, and as you can understand, this can take time. We ask for your patience while we do this. IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER: 1. ARRIVAL: It is extremely important that everyone arrives to rehearsal on time, that being 30 minutes prior to the scheduled rehearsal start time. A timetable is set in place to ensure that rehearsals run on time. In saying that, we will not start rehearsal until everyone has arrived, and a late arrival will cause rehearsals to run over time. So please don t be late! 2. BELONGINGS: All student s belongings MUST be clearly labelled with the student s name. Having items labelled assists helpers and supervisors in making sure that everyone leaves with every item they arrived with. Please remember that the less you bring the better. 3. HELPERS: Each student will have a designated helper that will assist them from drop off, to pick up, and everything in between, at rehearsals and on the day of the production. Helpers will oversee 4 x students each, and will greet you upon your arrival to rehearsals, holding a sign with your child s name. 4. PARKING AT DSA: All vehicles, including but not limited to, sedans, 4 wheel drives and motorcycles are to be parked on the designated grassed area. Under NO circumstances is anyone to park in the surrounding residential parking. 5. PARKING AT HOTA GC: All vehicles, including but not limited to, sedans, 4 wheel drives and motorcycles are to be parked on the designated customers parking lot, located at the front and to the left-hand side of HOTA GC. 6. ASSISTANCE: Should you have any questions on the rehearsal days, we ask that you please see Teegan directly. At the front entrance of the building you will find a Help Desk where Teegan will be available to answer any questions or queries that you may have (Sunday rehearsals only). As you can appreciate, we do have systems set in place to ensure that the rehearsals run as smoothly as possible, so we ask that you avoid directing any questions or queries at our helpers, and instead, make your way directly to the Help Desk.

PRODUCTION DAY AT HOTA There will be a rehearsal helper for all students involved in the Young Starz production on the morning of the show. All students are to arrive at HOTA GC STAGE DOOR by no later than 8:15am, ready for a 9:00am induction and production rehearsal. Once rehearsal is complete, students will then be required to stay backstage and prepare for the production. Please ensure you pack lots of food and drink for your child/ren on this day. We ask all students to arrive at HOTA with costumes in a costume bag and dressed in full Dynamite Uniform (the uniform they wear to classes). NO student is to arrive in costume, however, full hair and make-up should be complete for arrival to rehearsal. Drop off and collection on the day of the production will be exactly the same as on the day of the technical rehearsal. Please remember, students will not be able to leave HOTA during the short break between the morning s rehearsal and the production. This does mean that students are required to arrive with full hair and make-up complete. Below, you will see a brief checklist of what you are required to bring on the production day. This includes, but is not limited to, the below items: 1. Hair products (for necessary touch ups before the production). 2. Make-up products (for necessary touch ups before the production). 3. All production costumes. 4. Stockings. 5. All required footwear. 6. Tan underwear. 7. Drink bottle (we suggest water). 8. Lunch box (please be mindful of peanut allergies when packing snacks). 9. Please remove all jewellery and earrings from students prior to arriving at rehearsals to avoid them being lost. STUDENTS BELONGINGS: We ask for all production students to have a costume bag for all of their belongings to be stored in during the production. This will assist with quick changes, and can avoid belongings being lost. All student s belongings MUST be clearly labelled with the student s name.

HAIR Hair is to be worn in a slick high pony, with a wrap around the ponytail, using hair elastics the same colour as the student s hair. All fringes and loose ends must be either pinned or slicked back using bobby pins. Please use hairspray and gel where necessary.
