Medlen was part of the 2008 Championship team at Mississippi as well as the 2015 World Series Championship at the Royals. LAST GAME: After two pitcher s duels and a slugfest, it only made sense that the fifth and final game of the series between the Mississippi Braves (24-26) and Pensacola Blue Wahoos (28-22) would come down to a late comeback and a wild finish. The home team came out on top 3-2, snapping a three-game losing streak for Mississippi. MISSISSIPPI FARM BUREAU PITCHER OF THE WEEK: RHP Mike Soroka started game one of the series against Pensacola and held the Blue Wahoos to just one run on three hits over 5.2 innings of work. He walked two and struck out a season-high 10 batters. The Braves No. 4 prospect, as ranked by Baseball America, is 5-3 with a 2.96 ERA in nine starts on the season at Double-A Mississippi. Opponents are hitting just.194 against him. MISSISSIPPI FARM BUREAU PLAYER OF THE WEEK: OF Ronald Acuna, 19, posted a.417 batting average (10-for-24) in six games during the week. He had three doubles, a homer and three RBI for the M-Braves. In 19 contests since joining the Double-A Braves, Acuna is hitting.375 with nine extra-base hits and 13 RBI. Mississippi Braves Booster Club: The MBraves Booster Club named their Pitcher and Player for the Month of April...Starter pitcher, Kolby Allard had a 1-1 record with a 1.67 ERA for the month of April. In 27 innings he allowed seven runs (5 earned) on 22 hits, walking seven and striking out 17. Infielder, Carlos Franco, recently promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett, hit.272 in 23 games going 22 for 81 with seven runs scored. Over six games played, Acuña paced the league with a.417 batting average, 10 hits, and three doubles, while sharing the lead with 16 total bases. Furthermore, the La Guaira, Venezuela native finished the week with two runs, a stolen base, four extrabase hits, a homerun, three RBI, a.400 on-base percentage and slugging percentage of.667.
