Cog Hill Golf and Country Club Palos Park, Illinois About Cog Hill: is a world renowned public golf facility located 30 miles southwest of Chicago. Cog Hill s nationally ranked Course No. 4 Dubsdread has been host to 20 PGA Tour events, including four BMW Championships and 16 Western Open Championships. The list of national championships also contains the 1997 United States Amateur Championship, 1970 & 1989 US Public Links Championship, and 1987 US Women s Public Links Championship. In addition, Cog Hill has hosted many local qualifiers for U.S. Opens and state championships alike. Cog Hill opened July 4, 1927 and has grown into one of the leaders in public golf. Purchased by Joe Jemsek (commonly referred to as The Patriarch of Public Golf ) in 1951, Cog Hill has continued/remained a family business with a focus on treating its patrons like family. In 1963, the Dubsdread course was designed and built by famed architect Dick Wilson to be the best golf course in the country. The Club has garnered a long list of accolades including Golf Digest s America s 100 Greatest Public Courses, Golfweek s Best in State, Golf Magazine s Top 100 Courses You Can Play, and GRAA s Top 50 Public Range among other national and local recognition. The Club boasts 72 holes of championship golf featuring exemplary agronomic conditions and layouts for all levels of golfer. There is also an expansive practice area featuring public and private tees, covered hitting bays, and a private short game area with three practice greens. The clubhouse offers three separate rooms of banquet space which can open up to seat 280 guests, three bars including a patio bar with grill amenities along with and tent which can seat up to 700 for large outing groups and weddings. The Club has also partnered with the Golf Channel to offer the Golf Channel Academy and provide top tier golf coaches. Each coach has been carefully selected to teach all abilities to continue growth of the game. Cog Hill has an active tournament schedule with over 175 outings and 40 events annually for its patrons in addition to 10 leagues. The Club also offers a variety of memberships and season passes for adults and juniors.

Position Description: Cog Hill is currently seeking a with outstanding customer service skills and experience in golf operations with food and beverage. This involves providing a clear vision for its strategic direction, while taking personal responsibility for identifying additional sales and marketing opportunities; consistently delivering customer service excellence; and maximizing revenues and profitability. The is expected to be a contributor to the improvement and growth of all areas of operation including golf outings, food & beverage, tournaments, range, golf shop, social events, banquets, and customer service. The will report to Cog Hill Ownership. Key areas of responsibility include: Strategic To provide a clear vision of where the golf business is going and work closely with the owners to prepare the business plan. To keep abreast of changes in the environment and use this knowledge to identify new business development opportunities for all areas of golf operations. To produce supporting operational plans for different business areas that will contribute to achieving the objectives set out in the strategic plan. To influence and positively manage the development of the organizational culture. Marketing and Customer Service To work with ownership and other managers to develop a coordinated sales and marketing strategy for the facility that covers all areas of golf operations. To identify and develop innovative tournaments, social events, external promotions. Manage the marketing of the golf course to grow memberships, leagues, outings, travel groups, golf instruction and golf shop sales working closely where relevant in partnership with food and beverage. To develop creative marketing programs to grow public play including effectively managing the tee sheet using online offerings. Identify and establish working relationships with outside organizations including media organizations, sports teams, vendors and service organizations. To identify and develop value added products and services to enhance the customer experience including merchandising the golf shop. To communicate effectively with external organizations, individuals and agencies. To ensure that all promotional activity is properly structured, communicated and delivered. Greet all members and guests, paying special attention to requests and concerns. Maintains a visible presence on the course during peak times of play. To ensure the consistent delivery of excellent customer service, thereby achieving maximum customer satisfaction. Keeping golf matters current on the website and enhance the use of social media.

Operations To manage projects and monitor and evaluate their success. To produce regular reports on financial performance, inventory control, utilization of facilities, sales and marketing activity, and human resources. To continuously review and develop standard operating procedures and policies for each area of the golf business to ensure maximum customer satisfaction while maximizing revenue and profitability. To oversee the care and maintenance of all the physical assets, inventory and resources of the golf facility. To develop and implement health and safety procedures that comply with up to date legislation, are clearly communicated, effectively monitored and regularly reviewed. To be responsible for the performance of the golf shop operations including accuracy of inventory, purchasing, pricing and margins. To co ordinate plans with the event managers for food and beverage needs of all golf functions. Work with the Superintendent to establish a premium golf product. Oversight of the golf carts & range maintenance; address needed repairs and upkeep. Maintain daily sales reports, department cash handling procedures including daily deposits People Oversee, hire, discipline and supervise the managers including golf professionals, golf shop, cart and range staff. Oversee scheduling and staffing for daily needs and special events. To communicate regularly and effectively with individuals, managers and ownership To provide effective leadership for the golf operations, giving direction to individuals and motivating and supporting them to achieve the organization s vision and objectives. To produce staffing and succession plans for all aspects of golf operations, identifying workforce requirements needed to achieve the organization s current and future objectives. To ensure that all members of the golf operations management team have appropriate opportunities to develop skills, knowledge and experience to enhance their performance. Financial Responsibility for the golf course operations and pro shop financial statements: Prepare yearly budgets and capital expense requirements To monitor monthly actual results; explain variances from budget; and take prompt corrective action to address variances, ensuring each operating area is maximizing efficiency and profitability. To achieve revenue and contribution targets for each aspect of golf operations. Experience / Qualifications: Including, but not limited to, the following: Bachelor s degree (BA) required Minimum 5 years experience as a Current First aid certificate, or ability to achieve Experience in both a private and public environment Experience of budgeting, revenue forecasting, capital expenditure, inventory management, marketing plans.
