CHAPTER S A F E T Y F O R L I F E W A S A T C H W I N G S GWRRA - Chapter H E-Mail Newsletter VOLUME 1, NUMBER 4 JULY 2, 2018 Thanks for riding with Chapter H, we try to be a fun group and are always on the lookout for great places to ride to oh yes and to try out for lunch/dinner/ice cream. We look forward to seeing you Saturday the 7nd of July 2018 at Golden Corral in Layton at 7:30am for Breakfast (if you re interested )and our Chapter Social prior to our scheduled monthly ride. More details in this newsletter. Our next Gathering will be July 7th and coincides with our scheduled ride for July. As mentioned, we are moving our Gatherings to the same Saturday on which our ride is scheduled. This month (July), we will meet for breakfast at 7:307:45 am at the Golden Corral in Layton, UT. We will start the Gathering at 8:15 8:30 and leave for the ride, at 9ish. Bill and Kathie McGowan CD s Chapter H UTAH GWRRA Chapter H Website URL wasatchwingschapterh.org Utah District Website URL gwrrautahhome.org David Heaton and a few others have been hard at work behind the scenes to turn the Utah District Website into a useful resource. Chapter H has also updated their website. Please make these home pages your first stop for information about going on s in the Chapter and/or District. The URL s (web addresses) are listed above. While we are not completed with either of the websites, we have made strides in removing the outdated information and updating the sites with current information and photos. Suggestions for additions to the websites are always welcome. Directors thoughts Well, the weather for the June ride was in a word Gorgeous. We met at the Golden Corral on Saturday June 2nd and had a fun little Social Gathering and headed to Trappers Loop. We went over Trappers, up to Monte Cristo and had a quick stop in Randolph. A short ride to Jody s diner in Evanston for Brunch and we headed to Mirror Lake and then home via Kamas. I have added a few photo s. (Below)

I have added another item to our For Sale section both here and on the website. A 1988 GL 1500 - Additional pictures of various events are also posted on the website. See the URL above if you don t have it bookmarked. We will be holding our April - September 2018 Gatherings at the Golden Current Staff for the Chapter: Chapter Directors Corral 1624 N Heritage Park Blvd, Layton, UT 84041. Please join us Saturday July 7th at 7:30 am for our next Gathering. We will make our July ride over to Wolf Creek unless those in attendance want to alter the destination. The weather looks a little warm, but no rain in sight!!!! Stop by for full details on Saturday and stay for a Bill and Kathie McGowan fun ride. Assistant Directors Chapter H Officer doings Vacant We STILL have openings for several officers in the Chapter. None of the Treasurer Officer positions take a lot of time and/or effort and the influx of new Amy Limburg Ride Coordinator NEW members in these rolls always prompts fresh thinking. I would really appreciate having some new blood help Chapter H come up with new ideas. Please feel free to discuss an officer position with me at one of our gatherings or by phone. Vacant Membership Enhancement Vacant Bill & Kathie McGowan 1757 Doral Drive Syracuse, UT 84074 Cell 603-2496800 Email wmcgowan_ut@comca st.net Please see me or any other Chapter officer if you are interested in a vacant position. District Training We held a First Aid/CPR class at the home of Bruce and Jennalee Long, the former CD s of Chapter R during the month of June. 9 GWRRA members were in attendance and we learned a lot and had some fun. If we get more interest, we will see about doing another class. As I mentioned in previous issues: We have been in conversation with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) instructors at Salt Lake Community College. They are scheduling 3 Advanced Rider (ARC) classes and at least 1 Trike Rider (TRC) classes this spring. (Update there are going to be 4 TRC classes. Dates have been scheduled 5/5, 5/26, 7/17-18, 7/28-29 These are multi day classes, so go to the website and check the details) Here is info from Dan Terry our contact. SLCC has three ARC classes set up this spring with one coming up in a couple of weeks. If you are looking for the class go to utahmotorcycletraining.com and click on the Advanced Rider link and the three classes should be there. We will also have a 3 Wheel class in late

April on a regulation MSF range. If you tell the registration office that you are a member of GWRRA I can authorize a discount for you. You would need to call the registration office at 801-957-5200 option 1. I have heard from a few of those who have taken the classes and they were pleased to be able to attend a local class. 2018 Rallies and Fun events to come May 5th, Chapter H ride to Lava Hot Springs. Hoot in the Ute - May 25-27 - Midway UT (Zermatt) June 2nd Chapter H ride Mirror Lake Highway to Evanston and back over Monte Cristo and Trappers Loop to I-84 then home. (or reverse) July 7th Chapter H - Wolf Creek Unless we decide to go elsewhere!!! WingDing 40 - Knoxville, TN August 28 - September 1, 2018 Arizona District Rally - October 26-28 - Lake Havasu, AZ I thought to create a new section as we get into the actual Riding season. I will devote some space each month to the previous months ride. I will include photo s (I d love to get those who attended the ride to send me some of their best photos for both the newsletter as well as the Chapter H website.) Last Month s Ride June 2018 Mirror Lake We did have 1 of our new Lunch rides. I will post the pictures of them here and in the Chapter H website at https://www.wasatchwingschapterh.org/ Look under the Rides tab and you will see a page titled 2018 Ride Photo s. There are a few photos there, but the rest live in a Photo Archive page under the 2018 Ride Photo s page.

Here is another new section to the Newsletter. Utah Officers Corner As there is only the one newsletter in Utah, I offered the current officers space in this newsletter to get word out to all Utah District members about their upcoming events or other communication of interest. I ll include information I get from these officers each month. I send this newsletter to each officer and ask that they forward to their Chapter membership so that everyone gets to hear the news I collect regardless of their geographic location. Update - Brian Anderson our Motorist Awareness Officer said that he is planning on attending the Cycle Gear bike night on July 10 th., it might be fun to get a group together and ride down and support him and the Motorist Awareness folks. Brian also confirmed that we are on for the State Fair, the first Sunday that the event is held as usual. We do a Motorist Awareness Event as well as talk to the attendees about GWRRA. We will be there September 9 th unless the date changes. Details to follow as usual, but just wanted to let you know to reserve the date!! No other news received from the other officers in the District

For Sale/Wanted I thought it would be helpful to anyone who wanted to post an item for sale / wanted to have a section devoted to that in this newsletter. If you have an item you want to sell, please send me a photo or 2 if needed, a price and contact info. If you are looking for an item, send an accurate description and contact info. I won t post the item unless I have all the info. I don t want to fend off questions that I don t have answers to. For Sale Dee Jansen a local GWRRA member has asked that I post pictures of his '88 Goldwing for sale. Dee says it is a GL1500. Metallic Blue. Is in excellent shape. Low miles on tires. Seat has been reupholstered and new windshield with vent. Has stereo and CB. Price includes 2 helmets, owners manual, complete service manual and half shell cover. Asking 4500.00 or best offer My number is 801-231-7502. (Pictures below)

Larry Schaack, one of our Chapter H members, has worked with a flag manufacturer to produce a Chapter H flag sized to be flown on our bikes/trikes. (See photo below) We have a few of the flags available for sale, see Amy Limburg the Chapter Treasurer if you are interested. $15 gets you your very own flag. We will order more as demand out paces supply. See below Flag Etiquette - Display on Motorcycles - When the US flag is flown alone, it needs be at the center on the back of the motorcycle, or to its "marching right." The "marching right" is on the right side of the motorcycle to the rider's perspective when facing forward. If the US Flag is on your bike with another, it should be to its "marching right." All flags flown with the US Flag are the same size and at the same height of the US Flag. While the US Flag is on your bike with several other flags the US flag is placed at the center and highest. Other flags should be arranged in alphabetical order and in decreasing importance - Nations first, states (in order of admittance) and territories second, military third (in order of establishment), and then any others.
