OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF THE RIO GRANDE GCSA March 2015 President s Message President Caleb Buckley Vice President Robert Gonzales Secretary / Treasurer Jake Villareal Board of Directors: Mark Hanson Mike Furgerson Matt Urban Robert Clark Jimmy Rodriguez Joe Dosstter (Past Pres.) Vendor Representative Clay Guck Executive Director John King GCSAA Field Rep Hello everyone, I hope everyone is doing well and first want to wish everyone a happy new year. I hope everyone has enjoyed some time off away from work and is ready for spring time as it in right around the corner with this weather we have been experiencing. Also hope everyone has enjoyed all of this wonderful moisture we have received in these winter months. I would like to thank Karl Olsen and his team at New Mexico State University Golf Course for hosting our meeting in January. The weather was perfect for a meeting and we had a great turn out with everyone receiving 2 points for their pesticide license. Thank you to Dr Ryan Goss on his talk on Herbicide Resistance Management / Herbicide Use Reduction. We had a great turn out for the meeting and want to thank everyone for attending the meeting. At this time I would like to thank the new members to the board and also thank the returning board members for their support of this organization. Our next meeting will be in Roswell on March 16 th at New Mexico Military Institute. I would like to thank Jake Villareal for hosting this meeting we hope to have another great turn out for this event. I hope everyone who attended had a good time at the GIS Show in San Antonio. The attendance was scheduled to be one of the largest GIS Shows in a very long time. However, the weather in central Texas affected many travel plans and reduced attendance, even for some of our Rio Grande members. This is the first time the event was held in San Antonio and if it was your first time going to this area it is a beautiful part of the country with the riverwalk and activities that San Antonio has to offer. A friendly reminder to get your dues in by April 1 st before there will be a late fee added to your account. If you were not able to attend the meeting at NM State we did have a few announcements. The first announcement is the awarding of the Alan Salter Scholarship Award. We had two applicants this year for the award and I am pleased to announce the winners are Jacob King and Jennifer Ferguson. Each of these two individuals will receive $1000 for their portion of this award. The other announcement was the remaining meetings we have this year. The third meeting this year will be at Artesia CC on May 18 th and the July meeting will be at Santa Fe CC on July 20 th. We are still working on our annual meeting date and location at this time. I hope everyone is doing well and we hope to see you in Roswell at New Mexico Military Institute. Brian Cloud Caleb Buckley Isleta Golf Club RGGCSA President
