Page 2 The Morning Line Thursday, February 18, 16 Schedule & Results ML Polo Update - Thursday, February 18, 16 - AM Polo at a Glance WE DELIVER Call Today IPC - Ylvisaker Cup - All six Round 3 games will be played today Thursday, see page 5, the games are scheduled by order of draw. Read the correct, updated rules below for the shoot-out to be held at 9 am on Friday morning: In the event of a three way tie or more on win-loss record after bracket play, or a two way tie or more between teams not having played each other on record after cross bracket play the Penalty Shootout system may be used to determine who advances in the tournament. (1) The shootout, if necessary, will take place Friday Feb. 19. 16 at 9 am (2) We will have a one man shoot out. (3) General conditions will follow the procedures are outlined below: (a) The Penalty Shootout will be supervised by two professional umpires and one experienced adult goal Judge. (b) Players eligible to take part shall be restricted to those who were listed on the team entry form for the tournament or those who played the whole of the last qualifying match. There shall be no other change of players or substitution. Only one eligible player from each team may take the penalties. (c) Teams will draw from cards marked 1, 2, 3 etc. for the order of taking penalties. (d) Players will be kept to one side in team groups and called forward individually to take the penalty. The player has only one hit at the ball and the hit may not be defended. (e) The player will be asked if he is ready and if so the Umpire will drop the ball close to the penalty spot. The player will then have 15 seconds to place the ball; teeing up is not allowed. (f) Once the player has placed the ball, the umpire will ask him if he is content and if he is, the umpire will then call play. If the player has still not placed the ball after 10 seconds, the umpire will give a 5 second warning and will then call play at 15 seconds. Once the umpire has called play any contact with the ball will count as the one hit. (g) Teams will take 40 yard penalties as individual team members in the order of cards marked ie; a member of team 1 will be followed by a member of team 2, who will be followed by a member of team 3, etc. until all teams have completed their 40 yard penalties. (h) The same process will be used for the taking of the 60 yard penalties. (i) The team or teams (depending on the number of teams required) with the least number of goals will not qualify and if teams are level after the 6 penalties, players from each team shall continue in the same order to take one penalty each from the 60 yard line until one has less goals than the other having taken the same number of penalties. In all other aspects USPA Rules apply. Officials, teams and ponies must be turned out as if for a match. This includes wearing a team jersey and helmet etc. Players must use a horse that has played in this tournament. Grand Champions - See the new Schedule page 6, starting Friday. Sunday at IPC Page 8 The Morning Line Thursday, February 18, 16 Polo Fans LOVE Sunday Polo at the International Polo Club, Tony Danza Wows Spectators Sunday polo celebrated the holiday of universal love on Valentine s Day, with signs of cupid s handiwork dazzling the sellout crowd. Veuve Clicquot kept the pink champagne flowing, while Hollywood actor, Tony Danza, conducted the coin toss and posed for photos, along with Sister Hazel lead singer Jett Beres. Enjoying a spectacular, mild winter day, the passion for fashion was sizzling with stylish ensembles in every shade of pink and red. The lavish Sunday brunch was a gastronomic feast, with more than 650 guests enjoying the chic Lilly Pulitzer Patio, the trendy Veuve Clicquot Airstream Lounge, and the new and exclusive Coco Polo Lounge. The Funky Buddha Beer Garden generously provided samples of their new Polo Blonde ale, and tailgaters lined up to fill growlers with the popular craft beer. St. Valentine would have been proud to see a smitten gent on bended knee, propose to his sweetheart while surrounded by friends dressed in heart-patterned blazers. She said YES! The day ended with perfection and a high-energy after- party at The Pavilion, with celebrity DJ Adam Lipson, and long-stemmed red roses for guests. The -goal match was won decisively by Coco-Cola, led by Gillian Johnston, taking out White Birch with a 12-8 victory. President and CEO of Jupiter Medical Center, John Couris, presented Coco-Cola players with their awards immediately following the match. Steve Krueger, a standout player from Texas, who played both offense and defense, scoring three goals for Coco-Cola, was awarded MVP for his efforts. Gillian Johnston s polo-loving pony, Beckon, was named Best Playing Pony. Top, Tony Danza, John Wash and Mykal Morrison. Far left, Victoria Levin.
