Sting Conference POWER RANKINGS 1. Foot Clan No shut out but the offense came to play or maybe it was SOGO s lack of defense. We don t know. Only those there can tell the story. Foot Clan remains undefeated while turning SOGO s story into a bestselling SAGA. 2. Tummy Stix Yawn. This may be how they feel when they come to play. Where is the competition? 3 rd game of the season. 3 rd run rule of the season. Can they make a new run rule record? Probably. Time will tell. Shall we say #TummyStixtakeover? No we won t, it s stupid. They are good though. 3. Money Shot Money Shot. That s just what they got when they heard about the forfeit. This win and the other teams results in their conference has jumped them 5 spots in the standings. Can they handle the pressure up here? Will they keep this seed and better it? 4. I m Kick James Pitch The defense is solid. I mean people can t score on them. Unfortunately they can t score either. This is their second tie of the season and this one was zero to zero. Lock down D played by both teams. This team is due a game with some offense. It s coming. Hope you aren t playing them when it comes. Ray Conference 1. Kickheads Second shutout of the season has them undefeated and at the top looking down. Maybe it has something to do with this pregame circle jerk thing they do. Ok there is no jerking but they definitely get in a circle and chant some scary shit. Maybe teams quit before they play them? 2. Flipadelphia Remains in the two spot with another win. Flipadelphia is keeps Flipping the wins in. Can they be stopped? Interesting matchup against the Wasians next week should help us gauge how good they really are. Will they make the critics shut it? 3. Ballzdeep Getting it done and remain in the three spot by beating Blackout at their own game. Will the wins keep coming? The schedule gets a little tougher going forward. We ll see if Ballzdeep has what it takes to keep the wins coming and finish strong. 4. Dream Crushers Won by the skinny, skin, skin of their teeth and go to 2-1. Crushers look fairly decent on offense but definitely need to tighten up on D if they expect to be title contenders. What is this chant they got? C their D s!!!!? Talking bout Crushing Dreams we assume. 5. Rubber Balls & Liquor Brought the heat this week and scored fourteen on DFT as they cruised to the win. Very much needed win and the team was very light with a lot of players missing. They got Tummy Stix next week. Upset alert, maybe? 6. Get in the Van They lost this week but remain in the same spot in there conference. Sweet! GITV had plenty of offense going but the defense stayed home or maybe this was their version of giving out candy? Flipadelphia definitely wanted some and got it. GITV is not scathed (literally) as they didn t move in the standings and will bounce back next week. down. 5. Local Skanks This team is surprisingly pretty good. They ve played some very good teams and never go down without a fight. A 0 0 tie against the very well experienced and talented IKJP is something to be sad. Let s keep a watch on this team and see how they finish. 6. Blackout City 2.0 How do yall keep losing in the game you created? Maybe it was the absence of game strategist #CallMeRandy or Rage Mentor Eric Meomke? Either way I really don t think this squad gives a shit about wins and losses anyway. It s all about the visit to Blackout City and hanging out with Mayor Brown. This squads masks were tight and by far the best, unfortunately the theme contest is a game of numbers and not awesomeness. If it was awesomeness yall had it hands 7. Wasians Got blasted by Tummy Stix but their heads are still up don t you worry. They will bounce back and get back to their winning ways. By the way they win every week any way as they host the best pre game tailgate out there. 8. Drinkers Farewell Tour They were light on people and extra light on runs scored. Not good when the other team is putting up fourteen. The Farewell Tour is drawing fans by the droves but they gotta start winning some games if they expect people to keep paying these steep prices for the show. 9. Suns out Guns Out Ok they probably had the toughest schedule three games in playing the three teams that have only allowed 3 runs combined for the first three games. The good news; it should get easier from here. The bad news; they are currently 0-3 and at the bottom looking up. At least their shirts are yellow? 7. No More Teasing This squad is good. Their record doesn t show it right now but they are good and will be winning in multiple rounds of the playoffs. They ve definitely got a chip on their shoulder with a couple of close losses and will be taking it out on their next opponent. I hope it isn t you! 8. Pitch Kickers They won the theme with an plethora of people wearing the masks. They looked awesome. They had different kinds of masks too. It was kinda cool. They however did not win their game and are sitting at 0-3 currently. What will they do to right the ship? Only they know what it will take. 9. Just Kicking It Called in early and threw in the towel. They were Just Kicking It at home we guess. Hopefully next week they can get out there and Just Kick some runs in and get a win. *These are opinionated rankings that may or may not match true league standings. Missy Starkey - I m Kick James Pitch SPOTLIGHTS VETERAN of the week How did you hear about WAKA? I first heard about WAKA from my brother s college roommate/fraternity brother and mutual friend while living in West Palm Beach, FL. How many seasons have you played? What teams? Any championships? I played in South Florida for 6 seasons on multiple teams from North Palm Beach to Boca Raton, and then came to Jacksonville about 3 years ago and tried to get most my family and friends involved; therefore, I started up a team which is named I m Kick James Pitch thanks to Dan Johnson for coming up with our team name, and we are now in our 4 or 5 th season. We haven t won any championships, but we seem to get better every season! I have also been given the opportunity to play on the Foot Hustlers and Surrender the Booty in a couple other leagues in Jacksonville, in which even though we haven t brought home any championships we have finished in 2 nd place. What do you think about your WAKA experience thus far? I really enjoy the overall experience with WAKA, it has been a great way to meet new friends and yet still bring a fun and competitive edge to the game of kickball. Who are some of your favorite Athletes? Obvious greatest athletes of all time: Muhammed Ali and Michael Jordan. Personal favorites: former Gators such as Emmitt Smith, Fred Taylor, and of course Tim Tebow! What did/do you want to be when you grew/grow up? I believe I was always born to care for others in whichever way possible. I feel I have fulfilled my dreams by becoming a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant, in which, I have chosen to further my education by specializing and becoming a nationally certified lymphedema therapist. Relationship Status? Sorry guys, I am taken! I just recently started dating a guy, so even though it is new I have great hopes that it will last=) What are some of your other hobbies besides kickball? I enjoy going to the driving range and hitting golf balls, I am trying to work on the fundamentals before taking on the courses. I have grown up around golf courses most of my life, so I just need a few lessons to get back into the swing of things no pun intended! Love any sports related to the Gators, especially football and basketball. Lastly, I am a Jaguar season ticket holder and keep praying for a better season! If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be? To be honest, I am happy right here in Jacksonville. Even though I was born and raised here in Jax, I experienced 4 years in Gainesville and 8 years in South Florida, and I love being home close to my childhood friends and family most of all. If you won the Lotto this week, what would you do with all that money? Find a good financial advisor, so that I could figure out a way to live off of it my entire life and provide a comfortable life for my future children. Money can t buy the things that mean most in my life which is my health and happiness. What was the last book you read? I hate to read, so it would have to be a summer reading book required for Bishop Kenny High School. Otherwise, it was related to my studies or lymphedema to further my knowledge in my field of work. What has been the most interesting Entertainment news to you within the past 12 months? Trying to catch up and follow this political BS that I have never cared for in the past. I guess becoming a young adult your priorities do start to change. What superpower would you want if you had a choice? I would love to be able to hear people s thoughts, so that I could actually know who is really two-faced and who really cares. I guess like Sookie from the HBO series True Blood.
