Mountain View NEWSLETTER DECEMBER 2015 Here we are heading into the busy holiday month. Hopefully all your Turkey Days were fantastic and fulfilling. November we had a lot going on...we had our Talent Show, Fun & Fitness Event at the movies to see The Peanut Movie, another skating party and we also started musical rehearsals. And the 1st marking period ended! Geez how fast time is flying! This month will be busy too...everyone is getting ready for the holidays. We will have our Holiday Shoppe, Get Air event, After School Club sign ups, 4th & 5th grade Holiday Concert, our winter parties and then a nice winter break. If anyone is interested in hosting an After School Club please be sure to contact Rachel Winters at raewinters03@yahoo.com. Bring your talents to the school and share with the children. Volunteer badges MUST be obtained to help with any club by January. If you haven t signed up to help with a Committees yet you can still do so by contacting me or get in touch with the Committee Chair. Fun & Fitness Event December Please join us for a night at Get Air! When: Friday, December 11th / 3 Time slots must pay in advance and reserve your spot. Holiday Vendor Shoppe We will be holding our 3rd Vendor Shop this year at the same time as the Children's Holiday Shop. Flyers for Vendor Registration will be coming home over the next month. We are looking forward to a great turn out. If you have any questions or how like a table please contact Lynlee Sheeler at las5110@hotmail.com Vendor Shop Is Located In The Gym! Raffle will be held at end of night! (1 free raffle ticket at the door- All others 4 for $1.00) Holiday Shoppe Get ready for Mountain View s 3rd annual Holiday! This year we have a new shop provider with a bunch of new and exciting items. Please be sure to come visit the shop on Friday, December 4th, 4:00pm 8:00pm. We will be selling food at the shop this year from 5:00pm 7:00pm. Mr. & Mrs. Claus will make their appearance for pictures from 6:00pm 7:30pm, we will have our very own Christin Lopez Photography who will be taking the pictures. Each family will get a 4x6 photo sent home the following week of their visit with Mr. & Mrs. Claus! We need volunteers to help in Mrs. Claus s Kitchen and the Elves Workshop, so if you are interested please contact Danielle Wylie at d_wylie777@msn.com for more details. We are also asking for high school students to help in the shop. Envelopes & forms will be coming home with students this month. Thank you!

Musical Peter Pan Jr. In case you haven t heard, Disney s Peter Pan Jr. is coming to Mountain View. We are currently busy rehearsing. This year we will be celebra ng Mountain View s 15th year of musicals! This year we will have 3 shows Friday, February 27th, Saturday, February 28th and Sunday February 29th. Teacher & Staff Appreciation The Teacher and Staff Appreciation Committee is in full swing. The committee is planning events, surprises, and gifts for the teachers and staff at Mountain View. A Dip, Chip, and Salsa event was held in October for the staff. The first luncheon for the staff took place on Parent/Teacher Conference Day, November 3, 2015. It featured fall vegetables and fruit dishes and everyone had a relaxing lunch break and enjoyed the homemade food. The Committee always welcomes new members. Student Council Spirit Day December 18th Wear Red and Green IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING PARTY DAYS AT MOUNTAIN VIEW Mountain View Elementary Winter Party will be held on Wednesday, December 23 beginning at 2:45 PM. You must sign up in advance with the classroom teacher to be a volunteer. You must also have your blue volunteer badge from the district to be able to help with the party. Please remember the party is for parents only (no siblings should be attending). Any questions, as always please contact the school office at 657-8585. Student Spotlight The bulletin board in the lobby of the school is dedicated to highlighting the accomplishments of the students at Mountain View. If your child wins an award, is recognized for something he/she has done, or a group of students should be recognized, please send in an article, picture, etc. so that it can be posted on the board. Some examples are: a volunteer award, sports award, art/ composition award, participation in an event, etc. Kids love to see their names and accomplishments highlighted. You can send the information by email to vwilliams@cd.org, send it in with your child to drop off in the office, or you can personally drop it off in the office.

General Co-Op Meeting Our next General Co-Op Meeting of the year will be on Wednesday, February 10th at 6:30pm in the Library. We ask that if you are a Committee Chair or Co Chair that you attend these meetings. And of course anyone is asked and welcomed to come! The more the merrier!! There is also a drawing for $25 Mountain View Bucks! Please come and bring your ideas and meet the board. Hope to see you all there! Help Wanted! We are looking for someone to take pictures for the yearbook and possibly shadow the current Chair. Also looking for someone to take over the Field Day Committee. And another big thank you to Jenn Smith & Deena Pietsch for organizing another great Talen Show! It was great to see all the talent that Mountain View has! Skating Party Our next Mountain View Skating Party is Saturday, January 9th 4:30pm 6:30pm. Cost is $3.00 per person with a separate charge for skate rental. If you don t skate it s okay they have games and a great snack bar to just relax and hang out with our Mountain View families. Please come on out and support our great school!!! They are $5 each and have fantastic recipes in them that Mountain View families wanted to share with their friends.
