Welcome Home After a five-game road swing, the Albany Devils return to Times Union Center for a pair of games this week. The team hosts the Springfield Falcons Friday at 7 pm and the Wilkes-Barre/ Scranton Penguins Saturday at 5 pm. The Devils are 3-1-1-0 at home this season, outscoring opponents 17-9. Since the start of the 2013-14 campaign, the team is 47-22-6-6 at home for a.654 points percentage. The Week That Was The Devils were one point shy of a perfect three-in-three road weekend. The team defeated the Providence Bruins, 4-2, Friday before downing the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, 2-1, in overtime Saturday. A 2-1 overtime loss against the Springfield Falcons Sunday was the only blemish on the Devils efforts. November Numbers Sunday s loss ended Albany s four-game winning streak, but it also extended the team s regulation unbeaten streak to seven games. The Devils are 4-0-2-0 during November and are second in the North Division and fourth in the Eastern Conference at 8-3-3-0 (.679). Worthy Opponents Springfield and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton are two of the hottest teams in the AHL. The Falcons have won three straight and are 7-1-0-0 in their last eight outings. They are third in the Atlantic Division and seventh in the Eastern Conference at 7-5-1-0. The Penguins have the best points percentage in the league at.923. They are tops in the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference at 12-1-0-0 and are on an 11-game winning streak. 1

NEWS & NOTES Last Week Recap Devils 4 at Bruins 2 Reid Boucher had a pair of goals and Vojtech Mozik registered three assists in the Devils 4-2 victory against the Providence Bruins Friday at Dunkin Donuts Center. Blake Pietila had a goal and an assist and Brandon Burlon had two helpers. Joseph Blandisi also scored. Yann Danis earned his seventh win of the season; he had 21 saves on 23 shots. The Devils knocked off the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, 2-1, Saturday at PPL Center. Mike Sislo gave Albany a 1-0 advantage at 19:25 of the first period and they led until Lehigh Valley s Petr Straka found the back of the net at 10:32 in the third. Netminder Doug Carr, who is playing with the Devils as a PTO, earned his first victory of the year. He made 21 saves on 22 shots. Albany trailed for most of the game after Springfield s Tyler Gaudet made it 1-0 at 8:45 of the first period. The Devils found the equalizer off Paul Thompson s stick with 2:25 remaining in regulation. Yann Danis made a season-high 35 saves. Yann Danis (ALB) Best Start The Devils are off to the best start in franchise history with an 8-3-3-0 record after 14 games. Last year s squad was 7-3-1-3 at this point and the 2006-07 team had a record of 7-5-1-1. Winning Streak Before Sunday s overtime loss at Springfield, Albany had won four consecutive games. During that stretch they outscored opponents 14-6. During those four games, Mike Sislo (2g-2a), Joseph Blandisi (4g), Vojtech Mozik (4a) and Corey Tropp (1g-3a) led the team with four points each. Yann Danis was in goal for three of the wins, posting a 1.67 goals-against average and a.935 save percentage. Unbeaten In Regulation The Devils have not lost in regulation during November, going 4-0-2-0. Reid Boucher (4g-1a), Mike Sislo (3g-2a), Vojtech Mozik (5a) and Corey Tropp (1g-4a) lead the team with five points each. Yann Danis is 3-0-2-0 with a 1.97 goals-against average and a.926 save percentage. Scoring First The Devils have scored first in 10 of 14 games this season, going 7-1-2-0 during those games. Stingy Defense In 14 games, Albany has allowed just 30 goals and their 2.14 goalsagainst average ranks third in the AHL. Additionally, they are averaging 26.2 shots against, which also ranks third. Power Performance Thanks to man-advantage goals in 11 of 14 games, the Devils powerplay unit ranks third in the league with a 24.6 percentage. The team has netted a league-leading 17 power-play goals. Mike Sislo is tied for first in the AHL with four man-up tallies and second with nine power-play points. Additionally, Joseph Blandisi is tied for fourth with four goals. License To Kill The Devils have the second best penalty kill unit in the league, killing off 90.9 percent. The team has been shorthanded 66 times fourth most in the AHL and has surrendered just six goals. Between The Pipes Yann Danis is among the league leaders for several categories. He ranks tied for fourth with seven wins, fifth with a 1.97 goals-against average, tied for ninth with a.926 save percentage, sixth with 276 saves and second with 668 minutes logged. Making The Transition Rookie Vojtech Mozik led the Devils with four points during the three games. He had a career-high three assists Friday and registered a helper on Sunday s tying goal with 2:25 remaining in regulation. The 22-yearold has appeared in 11 of the team s 13 games, producing a goal, six assists and a team-high +9 rating. Consistent Rookie Joseph Blandisi continued to contribute offensively. The rookie scored the game s first goal Friday and netted the overtime winner Saturday. The 21-year-old has four goals and five assists in the last nine games. For the season, he is tied for second on the team with 11 points, posting six goals and five helpers. Lorito Picks Up Where He Left Off Coming off 12 points (3g-9a) in 11 AHL games last season as an ATO, Matt Lorito has nearly kept up the same pace this year. He has 11 points (2g-9a) in 13 outings. The Oakville, ON native spent the last four seasons at Brown (ECAC), serving as captain his senior year. Lorito led the Bears in scoring two of the four years. Boucher Producing In nine AHL games this season, Reid Boucher has six goals and two assists. For his career, the Lansing, MI native has registered 46 goals and 35 helpers for 81 points in 139 AHL games. Additionally, he has produced three tallies and five helpers for eight points in 37 NHL outings. 2

Tropp-ical Storm Entering this week s games, Corey Tropp has points in three of the last four contests, producing a goal and three assists. For the season, he is tied for fourth on the team with eight points, backed by three tallies and five helpers in 14 outings. Tropp is in his first season with Albany after the Chicago Blackhawks reassigned him on loan from the Rockford IceHogs to the Devils on Oct. 8. Appleby Update Netminder Ken Appleby is 7-2-0 with the Adirondack Thunder (ECHL) and has helped them to an 9-2-0-0 start. Appleby has a 1.89 goalsagainst average and a.934 save percentage.
