The game is expected to draw an NCAA on-campus arena record crowd of nearly 36,000, surpassing a mark set in two previous Duke-Syracuse games at the Carrier Dome in 2014 and 2015 (35,446). In the nine matchups since Cuse joined the ACC (Duke leads 5-4), two have been decided in overtime and the average margin of victory has been just 7.1 points. Barrett is 11th in the ACC in rebounding (7.6) and has led Duke on the boards in six of the last eight games. He is averaging 9.4 rebounds over the last 11 games. Only Kentucky (2,287), Kansas (2,268) and North Carolina (2,253) have more all-time wins than Duke. Duke s all-time.710 winning percentage is also the fourthbest in NCAA history, behind only Kentucky (.765), North Carolina (.739) and Kansas (.726). NCAA ALL-TIME WINS Rk Team Win-Loss (Pct.) The Blue Devils are looking to even the season series after falling to Cuse, 95-91, in overtime at Cameron Indoor on January 14 -- a game Duke played without Cam Reddish (illness) and lost Tre Jones (shoulder) four minutes in. Since Syracuse joined the ACC, Duke leads the series 5-4 -- in those nine games, two have been decided in overtime and the average margin of victory has been just 7.1 points. Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim served as an assistant on Mike Krzyzewski s Team USA staffs that won Olympic gold medals in 2008, 2012 and 2016. The two head coaches are first and second, respectively, in all-time Division-I victories -- Coach K with 1,123 and Boeheim with 944. DUKE AWAY FROM CAMERON In the Coach K era, Duke is 251-140 (.642) in true road games and 267-76 (.778) in neutral site games, for a combined mark of 518-216 (.706) in all games outside of Cameron Indoor Stadium. In ACC regular season play, Duke is 182-115 (.613) away from home under Coach K. The Blue Devils are 126-62 (.670) in ACC road games since the 1996-97 season. Coach K has also won 16 road games against AP top five teams, the most in the history of the AP poll. DUKE SETS NCAA RECORD AT NO. 1 Duke has been ranked No. 1 for 141 weeks in the AP poll era (since 1949-50) -- the most weeks ranked No. 1 all-time. Duke has been ranked No. 1 in the AP poll 86 times since the start of the 1997-98 season, far and away the most in the nation (Kansas is second with 48). Duke s 272 games (235-37) at No. 1 are the most all-time. Under Mike Krzyzewski, Duke has played 244 of those games -- also the most in NCAA history for one coach. On February 1, 2014 when Duke visited the Carrier Dome, the announced crowd of 35,446 set an NCAA record. That record was matched when Duke returned to Upstate New York on February 14, 2015. With additional seating being added before this season, SU is expecting the record to be surpassed for Saturday s game, which was announced as a sellout in January. In Duke s 26 games this season, 25 have come before soldout crowds. DUKE: 6-0 IN ACC ROAD GAMES Duke has won its first six ACC road games this season, opening 6-0 away from home in ACC play for the first time since the 2011-12 season. Jones, Williamson and Kentucky s Ashton Hagans are the lone freshmen on the list. The winner of the award will come from the 10 semifinalists, which also includes Barry Brown Jr. (Kansas State), Brandon Clarke (Gonzaga), Hagans, De Andre Hunter (Virginia), Tariq Owens (Texas Tech), Zavier Simpson (Michigan), Matisse Thybulle (Washington) and Grant Williams (Tennessee). His historic 1,000th career victory came against St. John s at The World s Most Famous Arena on Jan. 25, 2015, as he became the first Division I men s basketball coach to achieve a four-figure win total. Krzyzewski s 1,050 victories at Duke are an NCAA record by a coach at one school. With 1,050 of the Blue Devils 2,167 all-time victories, Coach K has presided over nearly half (48 percent) of the men s basketball wins in Duke history. Krzyzewski has won a league-record 485 ACC games (regular season and tournament), passing former North Carolina head coach Dean Smith (422) on Feb. 4, 2015. He has also won an ACC-record 182 conference road games. Coach K s five national championships are the second-most in NCAA history. Krzyzewski and former Connecticut coach Jim Calhoun are the only coaches in NCAA history to win national championships in three different decades. Coach K has led the Blue Devils into the NCAA Tournament 34 times more than any other coach in NCAA history. He has taken Duke to the NCAA Tournament in each of the last 23 seasons, the longest active streak by a coach and tied for the longest in NCAA history (Dean Smith, 23). Krzyzewski holds NCAA Tournament records for games coached (123) and wins (94) while ranking second all-time and leading active coaches with a.764 NCAA Tournament winning percentage (min. 20 games). He has reached the Sweet 16 on 24 occasions, five more than any other coach in NCAA history, and has advanced to the Elite Eight 15 times. Of the 1,332 games Krzyzewski has coached at Duke, 1,187 89.0 percent have been as a ranked team. The Blue Devils are 968-219 (.815) as a ranked team under Coach K. Coach K has taken top-ranked Duke teams into games on 245 occasions and compiled a 212-33 (.865) record as the AP s No. 1 team, ranking first in poll history in number of games and second in wins as coach of a top-ranked squad. Krzyzewski has tutored 61 NBA Draft picks during his time at Duke, including a total of 38 first-round selections that leads all active coaches. Duke has had at least one player taken in 31 of the 38 NBA Drafts during the Krzyzewski Era. Since the inception of the NBA Draft Lottery in 1985, Coach K and Duke have produced 25 lottery picks a draft-record total for both a school and a coach. Through the 2017-18 season, Coach K s former Duke players have accumulated $1.37 billion in NBA salaries. Lottery selections who played for Krzyzewski at Duke have combined to earn approximately $950 million, an average of just over $45 million per individual. Under Coach K s watch, Duke has produced multiple All-ACC Academic selections in 11 consecutive years. The 2015 NCAA championship team featured a programhigh five All-ACC Academic honorees. Quin Snyder, Amile Jefferson and Grayson Allen are the only players in Duke history to earn All-ACC Academic honors four times. Jefferson, a three-time captain, departed the university in 2017 with both bachelor s and master s degrees. Krzyzewski has had six players collect a total of nine CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, headlined by two-time first-team honorees Battier (2000, 2001) and Mason Plumlee (2012, 2013). Allen became the sixth in 2016 when he garnered second-team accolades. Fittingly, Coach K has earned nearly every award imaginable. The crown jewel of that haul, however, came in 2001 when he was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. Since his enshrinement in Springfield, Mass., Krzyzewski has also been inducted into the Army Sports Hall of Fame (2009), the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame (2010) and the Duke Athletics Hall of Fame (2011). While establishing Duke as one of college basketball s dynastic programs, Krzyzewski simultaneously spent more than decade as one of the architects of the revitalization of USA Basketball. During his tenure at the helm of the program, the U.S. National Team amassed an extraordinary 88-1 record and claimed gold medals at the 2007 FIBA Americas Championship, 2008 Beijing Olympics, 2010 FIBA World Championship, 2012 London Olympics, 2014 FIBA World Cup and 2016 Rio Olympics, as well as a bronze medal at the 2006 FIBA World Championship. Coach K was 24-0 in the Olympics as head coach of the USMNT and his time at the helm ended with the team in the midst of a National Team-record 76-game winning streak that began in 2006. Giving Back Krzyzewski has been diligently committed to public service, both locally and nationally, throughout his coaching career. He is currently serving on boards for, while also assuming vital roles with, the Duke Children s Hospital, the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research, the NABC Foundation, the CEO Roundtable on Cancer and the Emily Krzyzewski Center. Coach K s philanthropic activities also include the establishment and funding of the Emily Krzyzewski Center, a community center in Durham named in honor of his late mother. The Center s mission is to inspire economically disadvantaged students to dream big, act with character and purpose, strive for academic excellence and reach their highest potential as future citizen leaders. In May 2018, Coach K and his wife Mickie announced their single-largest philanthropic gift, a $3 million donation to the Emily K Center to kick start a $15 million fundraising campaign for the Durham-based Center. Jones is one of 10 semifinalists for the Naismith National Defensive Player of the Year, joining classmate Zion Williamson on that list. The Blue Devils steal percentage of 14.1 leads the country, meaning 14.1 percent of opponent possessions end with a Duke steal. When Jones missed the better part of three games with a shoulder injury, Duke s steal percentage dipped to 6.0 percent. Jones is the only major conference player averaging 20.0+ minutes per game who is ranked in the top 100 for both steal rate and fewest fouls committed per game. JONESIN FOR MORE Of his 23 primary defensive assignments this season (not counting the first Syracuse game), Jones has held 18 below their season average for field goal percentage, and 16 to below their season average for points. That includes locking up high-scoring guards Shamorie Ponds (St. John s) and Ky Bowman (Boston College) to a combined 8-of-28 (.286) and 11 points each. Ponds and Bowman are each averaging 20.0+ points and each shooting better than.430 this season. NCAA S ONLY PLAYER Jones is the only player in the NCAA who is averaging 5.0+ assists per game with an assist-turnover ratio of 4.00+. He leads the ACC in assist-turnover ratio (4.30) and is second in assists per game (5.38). He returned from a two-game absence (shoulder) with six points, four rebounds, four assists and one turnover in 35 minutes against Georgia Tech. » TRE JONES NOTES (CONTINUED) HIGH CRIME RATE Jones is on pace to have the best steals-to-turnover ratio of any Duke guard in history, among players with at least 100 assists in a season. The freshman has 49 steals against just 30 turnovers this season, a ratio of 1.6-to-1. Former Blue Devil Steve Wojciechowski s ratio of 1.4-to-1 is the best at Duke in a season in 1996-97. That season, he posted 176 assists, with 82 steals and 58 turnovers. DUKE RECORD-HOLDER ALREADY Jones is the first Duke player to record four different games in a season with seven+ assists and no turnovers. With four in his young career, Jones joins greats Tommy Amaker, Bobby Hurley and Steve Wojciechowski as the only other Blue Devils to accomplish that in their careers. The single-season record of three games was previously held by Duke associate head coach Jon Scheyer in 2008-09. Triggered by a Cam Reddish three with 9:04 left, the Blue Devils out-scored the Cardinals 35-10 over the next nine minutes to erase the deficit and win in stunning fashion. Reddish scored 16 of Duke s final 30 points in the comeback (4-of-9 from three; 4-of-5 at line), including a three that made it a two-point game with 2:58 left, the tying three with 1:28 left and the go-ahead free throws with 14 seconds. TRIPLE THREAT Over Duke s last five games, Reddish is averaging 19.8 points and 3.6 made three-pointers, including 5-of-8 at Virginia. The freshman was averaging 2.4 made threes over the previous 20 games he played this season. Reddish is third in the ACC in made threes this season, averaging 2.72 per game. Three of his seven 20-point games have come in the last five, including a career-best 27 against North Carolina. He s hit a three in 12 consecutive games. CLUTCH AT THE LINE Reddish enters the Syracuse game having made 29 of his last 33 at the free throw line over his last eight games. He had a streak of 20 consecutive made free throws snapped at Louisville. Reddish is 18-of-22 (.818) at the free throw line this season in the final five minutes of a game or overtime. His two free throws with 14 seconds left at Louisville broke a 69-69 tie as Duke rallied from 23 down with 9:55 left. TALLAHASSEE HERO Reddish caught a Tre Jones in-bounds pass with 2.8 seconds remaining and drained a three before the buzzer to lift Duke past No. 13 Florida State, 80-78. His game-winning triple capped a 23-point, three-assist, three-round effort for freshman. The shot was Duke s first final-seconds win since Luke Kennard drained a three with 6.6 seconds left for an 85-83 win at Wake Forest on January 28, 2017. Going 5-of-8 from three-point range marked his best shooting percentage effort (.625) from behind the arc. He matched a career high with nine made field goals.
