OHIO MACHINE GAME NOTES COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Machine return home to Fortress Obetz following three games on the road on June 9 at 6:00 p.m. The Machine will face off against the Chesapeake Bayhawks for the second time this season. LAST TIME OUT In a championship game rematch, the Ohio Machine were unable to stop the Denver Outlaws, falling 17-6 in Denver. Denver goalie Jack Kelly was unbeatable and the Outlaw speed on offense was unmatched by the Machine defense. Davey Emala scored the first Machine goal of the contest to put the score at 2-1. He went on to score three of the Machine s six goals and record his 17th career hattrick. Machine rookie Justin Guterding gave fans a glimpse of what could be as he assisted one of Emala s goals and went on to score his first major league lacrosse goal minutes after. On defense, Matt McMahon and Bryce Young caused three turnovers. At the x, Greg Puskuldjian returned and finished 12-27. The Machine are now 2-4 while the Outlaws improved to 6-2 on the season. MACHINE VS. BAYHAWKS In 12 meetings between them, the Ohio Machine and Chesapeake Bayhawks have already met once this season. The Bayhawks recorded their fourth win of the season in a 13-8 win over the Machine. The Bayhawks lead the series 7-5 coming into the weekend. The first meeting between the teams was 5/5/12 at Chesapeake. The Machine s first win over the Bayhawks came two years later on 5/31/14 with a 15-11 victory in Chesapeake. SCOUTING THE BAYHAWKS The Bayhawks come to the Fortress riding a three-game win streak. The Bayhawks lead the league in face off percentage (.581). Steven Kelly leads the team and the MLL with 56 ground balls in six games played this season. Against the Machine, Colin Heacock scored three goals and added an assist. He is tied atop the team s leader board with Myles Jones in goals scored this season. ROSTER MOVES The Ohio Machine announced the addition of Justin Guterding and Greg Puskuldjian to the 25-man roster leading up to Thursday s game in Denver. Guterding was the Machine s first round pick at the 2018 MLL Draft and Puskuldjian returns after six weeks on IR. Guterding, an attackman out of Duke, has been moved from the collegiate inactive list after playing in the 2018 NCAA title game. He started every game for the Blue Devils and now holds the NCAA record in career goals and points with 212 and 351, respectively. Guterding, the 2015 ACC Rookie of the Year, was a two-time Tewaarton Nominee and a finalist for the trophy this year. Following the 2018 season, he led the ACC in goals per game (3.30), assists per game (2.35), and points per game (5.65). Puskuldjian, who has been with the Machine for three seasons, returns to the roster after spending the last six weeks on Injury Reserve. He played in the season opener against the Lizards and won 14 of 38 faceoffs. In the 2017 season, he ranked second on the team with 52 ground balls and finished with a faceoff percentage of.381. In a corresponding move, the Machine added Michael Noone and Alex Spring to the practice squad and have waved Casey Dowd and Robbie Guiliano from the practice squad. Of the seven players selected in the 2018 MLL Draft by the MAchine, five have been activated and have seen playing time this season.
OHIO MACHINE GAME NOTES SUPERHERO NIGHT AT OBETZ The Ohio Machine is hosting Sheen Superhero Night at the June 9th home game against the Chesapeake Bayhawks. Sheen Superhero Night, presented by First Financial Bank, will feature superhero characters in attendance. Those who come dressed as their favorite superheroes will have the opportunity to take part in a costume contest at half time. The contest will consist of three age groups, Adult, 10-16 and 9 & under. There will be 2 finalists presented at half time and the fans will vote on the winners. Winners will receive prizes from Wizard World Comic Con, and local comic book stores and movie theaters. 2018 ALL-STAR CHALLENGE The Ohio Machine will be hosting the fifth annual Ohio Machine Senior All-Star Challenge prior to the matchup against the Bayhawks. For one last time, 60 graduating seniors will suit up before continuing their lacrosse careers at the collegiate level. The players, separated into three teams by region, boast accolades such as OHSCLA All-Region First ad Second Team members, OHSCLA Position Players of the Year, as well as High School All-American. PUT A RING ON IT The 2017 Major League Lacrosse Championship team were presented with championship rings prior to the homeopener. Representatives from Herff Jones, the official ring designer of Ohio Machine s 2017 ring, presented the players with their rings in a special pre-game onfield celebration. Replica rings are now available to the public at HJOhioMachine.com 2018 PARTNERSHIPS The Ohio Machine and Mid-Ohio Foodbank have announced a special partnership, in an effort to raise awareness, and funds, for Mid-Ohio Foodbank throughout the lacrosse community. The Machine organization is committed to giving back to the local community and will open up a special Hops for Hunger End Zone at all Ohio Machine home games to raise funds. Each game, a local Ohio brew will be featured in the Hops for Hunger Endzone as part of a Tap Takeover series. For every beer sold this season, one dollar will be donated back to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. The partnership will continue throughout the season, culminating with the Gears and Beers Craft Beer Festival on July 26.
