GARDEN CITY FAMILY YMCA SEAHAWKS SWIM MEET Host: Garden City Family YMCA Seahawks Swim Team Date: Saturday, July 9, 2016 Sanction: Sanctioned by Missouri Valley Swimming, Inc. on behalf of USA Swimming under Sanction #: MV-16-19 Location: Garden City Big Pool - 504 Maple St., Garden City, KS 67846 Course: 50 METER, 8 lane outdoor pool. All events will start from the starting blocks at the South end of the pool.. Superior Timing System will be used with semi-automatic buttons used at both ends and will be timed using stopwatches. In water starts are required from the North end of the pool for 200 meter relay events. Start end depth is 7 at the deep end with the turn end at 4 in the shallow end. This pool has NOT been certified in accordance with 104.2.2C(4). Type of Meet: Age Group and Post Age Group timed finals. Electronic start and no recall start rule. We will provide a bullpen area for the morning session only. The fly over method may be used. We will be using the Tri- State Tritons timing system. Rules: 2016 USA Swimming Rules and Regulations, 2016 Missouri Valley Swimming Rules, and WKSC Policies will govern all events. MVS safety guidelines and warm-up procedures will be in effect. All coaches and deck officials should have their cards visible at all times while on deck and be current with 2016 MVS. Swimmers without a coach at the meet must check in with the Meet Referee and will be assigned to a coach during the warm up portion of the meet. Swimmers will not be allowed in any other part of the Big Pool during the meet or warm ups. Any swimmer found in the water not during their event may be disqualified from the meet. Eligibility: All swimmers must be registered as 2016 athlete members of USA Swimming and Western Kansas Swim Club. 2016 USA Swimming registration will be verified by the MVS Registration Chair prior to the meet. The age of each swimmer as of July 9, 2016 determines age group classification for the meet. Teams Attending: Garden City, Liberal, Dumas, Guymon, Spearman, Elkhart, Ulysses Schedule: 7:30 a.m. Scratches begin, written scratches required 8:00 a.m. First Set of Warm-ups Begin 8:30 a.m. Morning scratches close 8:30 a.m. Coaches Meeting followed by Officials Meeting 8:45 a.m. Opening Ceremony 9:00 a.m. Meet starts- Morning session only Afternoon session warm-ups will start immediately following the morning session time trials. The afternoon session will begin approximately one hour after the afternoon warm ups begin. Scratches for the afternoon session must be reported to the clerk of the course within 15 minutes after warm-ups begin.
Warm-ups: Swimmers may not dive into the pool during general warm-up. Swimmers must enter the pool by stepping in feet first, or sitting and sliding in, in a safe and cautious manner. Entering in any other manner may result in the disqualification from one or more of the swimmer s events for that session at the discretion of the Meet Referee. Swimmers may dive during the designated sprint warm up period. Two warm ups will be provided; one in the morning for the younger kids and one in the afternoon for the older kids. Lane Assignments: General assignments listed below; however the Referee may make adjustments made, as necessary, based on squad size. Please check lane assignments prior to each session. Entries must be submitted using Hy-Tek software accompanied by Hy-Tek Meet Entries Report sorted by swimmer name. Be sure that all swimmer information, especially swimmer MV number, has been included. It is preferred that entries be sent via email. Teams should insure that an email submission, Hy-Tek disk, and/or Meet Entries Report has been received by the Clerk of Course on or before Tuesday, July 5, 2015 by NOON. Entry times should be submitted as LONG COURSE METER times only. All relays must be submitted with names of swimmers, with the option to change when scratches are called. 8 and Unders without 50 Meter times must enter as a no-time. 25 yard or meter times will not be accepted, and those swimmers will be entered as a notime. Box 983 Elkhart, KS 67950 Entry Limit: Each swimmer may enter a total of 6 events, 5 individuals and 1 relays or 4 individuals and 2 relays. Seeding: Entries will be seeded fastest to slowest. The meet will be seeded on deck, upon approval of the Clerk of the Course. Check-in: Swimmers are considered to be checked in for their events when their entries are received. If a swimmer chooses not to swim an event the coach must scratch the event a minimum of 30 minutes prior to the
start of the session in which the event is scheduled. It is the responsibility of each coach to indicate which events are to be scratched by which swimmers and report the same to the Clerk of the Course in writing by the scratch deadline prior to each session. Scratch Rule: Any swimmer entered in an individual event that has checked in for that event, must swim in the event unless the Clerk of Course is notified before the seeding for that event has begun that the swimmer wishes to scratch. Failure to scratch prior to seeding and not swimming the event will result in the swimmer being barred from the next individual event in which the swimmer is entered. No penalty shall apply for failure to withdraw or compete in an individual event if the Referee is notified in the event of illness or injury and accepts the proof thereof or it is determined by the Referee that failure to compete is caused by circumstances beyond the control of the swimmer. Awards: Place medals will be awarded for the first 6 places. Heat ribbons will be awarded to the first place swimmer in each heat. No team points will be awarded for these ribbons. Each team should designate a representative to pick up awards at the Clerk of the Course desk after the meet. Representatives will please leave name and phone number. Scoring for the individual events are 7-5-4-3-2-1 and for the relay events 14-10-8-6-4-2. Time Trials: Time trials will be conducted on a time available basis. Swimmers must be entered in the meet with a proven time in an individual or relay event to be eligible to participate in time trials. Each time trial swim will count toward the daily event limit, with a combination of time trials and meet events not to exceed that daily limit. Entries and cash payment must be turned into the Referee ($5/ind. and $8/relay) one hour before the projected end of the session. The specific schedule of time trial events will be determined by the Head Referee. Swimmers must also provide THREE timers for their Time Trials. Time trials at this meet are for swimmers going to a upper level meet and want to bonus or better a 200 breast, fly, or back and must have a District or Champs time. To bonus a 200 event in an upper level meet they must first be qualified in a 100 breast, fly, or back. Time trials will be after the first session, afternoon simmers will be allowed to warm-up before the time trial. Swimmers competing in the 400 and 800 meter freestyle event are required to provide THREE timers and lap counters for their swims. Squads are encouraged to provide certified stroke and turn judges. Heat Sheets: Meet programs will be available for $3.00. Each team s coaching staff will be provided 2 heat-lane assignment sheets free of charge at the coaches meeting. Results: Results will be posted on the outside of the fence at the South-west corner of the pool. Final Results may be posted on the Missouri Valley Website and may include the swimmer s name, age, times and USA Swimming number.
Concession: Concessions and lunch will be available for sale by west side of the meet entrance. Coaches, judges, and officials can get a free lunch by showing their USA swimming card. Sportswear: Elsmore Swim Shop will be set up on the North-west side of the fence during the meet selling the latest fashions in swimwear, sportswear, and aquatic accessories. Notes: * 8 & Under swimmers can only compete in 1 freestyle relay & 1 medley relay. ** Where 10 & Under or 11 & Over relay teams are comprised of swimmers from different age groups, any such relay will score with the age group of the oldest relay team member. 11-12 year swimmers can enter the Backstroke, Breaststroke, or Butterfly events in either the 50 or 100 meter distance but not both distances. Mixed relays can be 3 & 1 or 2 & 2 for the times to be put into swims. Changing into or out of swimsuits other than in locker rooms or other designated area is prohibited.
