Geet Sethi 9 times Cue Sports World Champion, Padma Shri, Khel Ratna Awardee, Founder Director - Olympic Gold Quest. Dear friends, The Rio Olympics are in the past and the last one year has been a year of new ideas, new initiatives and expansion at OGQ. We have concluded ten years of supporting Indian athletes to fulfill their potential to win an Olympic Gold, Gagan Narang being our first, who we supported way back in 2007. Focus on the top athletes has been our strategy these first ten years and along the way we have had huge learnings in understanding 'the athlete' 'the coaching system' and 'the environment'. Our understanding of the top athlete has made us realise that we should now start getting involved with 'the athlete' at the junior level in the sporting discipline that we identified. We are taking a slightly more thorough and broad based stance on the junior program. We have also come to understand that world class athletes need world class coaches not only at the top end of the spectrum but also at the junior level. After a lot of research, we are seriously looking at how we can make an impact in uplifting the level of coaches in a few of our disciplines through a 'Coaches Excellence Program that we will be launching shortly. The environment includes coaching academies which have played a crucial role in the life cycle of the athlete and we are identifying academies to support on a consistent and continuous basis. The essence and core of our program continues to be in constantly trying to add incremental value to our top end athletes and we continue that with greater zeal and enthusiasm. This journey and expansion has been possible only because of all you supporters. Thank you for being there for OGQ. The commitment of our entire board and team is unwavering and we will only grow stronger and have more impact year on year on 'the athlete Warm regards, Geet Sethi Foundation for Promotion of Sports and Games www.olympicgoldquest.in 3

Viren Rasquinha Former India Hockey Captain, Olympian, Arjuna Awardee, CEO - Olympic Gold Quest. Dear friends, In December of 2009 when the OGQ research team was 6 months into tracking her performance, Pusarla Venkata Sindhu, then only 14 years of age, was already showing glimpses of the mental toughness that would come to define her extraordinary performance at the Rio Olympics- winning a silver at her first ever challenge at the pinnacle of sporting achievement. But, like the saying goesit takes a village to raise a child- so also Olympic champions. In Sindhu s own words; The exposure OGQ gave me at 14 years of playing at international tournaments went a long way in preparing me for the intense level of competition in world badminton Our research and tracking reports tell us there are several Sindhus in the making- many of them from remote corners of India. It is here that our OGQ Junior Scholarship Program, now extended to 77 (and counting) young athletes, comes in. It cannot be underscored enough how crucial it is to provide the right and focused support at this early age. A key component of that support is also having world class coaching. There are simply not enough quality coaches equipped with the latest tools and techniques of modern coaching in India. Importing coaches from abroad in large numbers is neither practical nor desirable. This is what OGQ s Coaches Excellence Program, in the works, aims to address. We are preparing in right earnest for Tokyo 2020 and beyond. We remain unflinchingly committed to the dream and we are humbled by your continued support. Warm regards, Viren Rasquina Foundation for Promotion of Sports and Games www.olympicgoldquest.in 5

Junior Scholarship Program

Junior Scholarship Program The OGQ junior scholarship program was started in 2012 post the London Olympics. A lot of thought and research went into the formulation of this program where the aim is to identify young athletes in the age group of 10 to 20 and groom them for international success. OGQ has supported more than 80 junior athletes since 2012 as part of the junior scholarship program. It is a long term program with a 6 to 8 year horizon. We provide the young athletes with coaching support, equipment, sports science and mentoring. The athletes who transition from junior to senior need world class support as this phase is crucial in their career pathway. There have been many notable international achievements from athletes in the junior program viz. 17 year old Malaika Goel winning the silver medal in 10 m Air Pistol at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and badminton players 16 year old Siril Verma and 15 year old Lakshya Sen achieving the junior world number 1 ranking in 2015 and 2016 respectively. Siril Verma also won a silver medal at the world junior badminton championships 2015. In 2014, for the first time OGQ started support to athletes in two new sports - Swimming and Table Tennis as part of the junior program. In 2016-17, we supported 49 junior athletes across 7 sports. Going forward, we plan to scale up the number of athletes and quality of support to the junior program even further with an eye on the 2024 Olympics and beyond. As part of our strategy to scale up our junior scholarship program OGQ has partnered with centres of excellence like the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy, Gun For Glory Shooting Academy, Mary Kom Boxing Academy, Sushil Kumar Wrestling Academy to develop a world class training ecosystem. We want to imbibe athletes with all the essential qualities for success right from a young age and to this effect the junior program will be an integral aspect of the OGQ movement towards helping India win Olympic Gold medals. 61

It takes just 6 grams of Gold to lift the worth of a Nation P.V. Sindhu (2016 Rio Olympics Silver medalist in Badminton) I am very thrilled and honoured by the love and support of everyone. I am very grateful to OGQ who have been supporting me for the last six years. They were the first ones to recognize my potential and support me when I needed it the most. I won my first senior International tournament in Maldives in 2011 which was fully funded by them including my coach from the Gopichand academy. They have always been there for me through thick and thin. Every athlete who represents the country needs this kind of support.
