PRINCIPAL S MESSAGE: We have completed another very successful school Cross Country Carnival at Bonnie Vale on Tuesday. Congratulations to all our school s kids who mustered every last bit of energy to cross the finish line. Big thank you to Ms Brady who organised and ran the carnival. She was supported by our dedicated school staff and a great group of parents. I am so pleased with the positive support the parents are giving our school as we constantly look for new ways to present the best possible learning experiences for your children. You are appreciated and add greatly to a supportive community feel to our school. Our MS Read-a-thon talk has been given and children who indicated they would like to take part have been given a registration form.. Next week is Education Week. Our school staff look forward to welcoming you into classrooms to see your children at work. Open time is on Wed 16 th May from 11.30 am to 12.30 pm. Your attendance at such functions demonstrates to your children that you value their schooling and ongoing education. The COLA is at present being erected over the paved area in front of the cabin. This will give children an additional shade area to sit and read, play games etc.under. Remember, I welcome any suggestions you have that support the staff and children at our school. 1

PRIMARY CROSS COUNTRY: Tuesday was a perfect May day for our Primary Cross Country Carnival. All students were enthusiastic and prepared to have a go in their age races. Many were determined to walk the course, even if they were not able to run it. Positions were given to the first 8 students finishing in each event. Many of these students will be offered the opportunity to represent our school at the Cronulla District Cross Country Championships on Tuesday 22 nd May at Kurnell. Every participant was given house points for entering and the overall winner of this years carnival was Kurrajong. Thank you to those wonderful parents who had the patience and enthusiasm to supervise sections of the running course and helped ensure our children were safe. Your contribution was an important one and was greatly appreciated. We are very proud of their achievement & wish them well for Syndey East Selections. Well done boys! It Takes a Village to Raise a Child. Thank you to our bus drivers for the care you take with our children. Yesterday I witnessed a wonderful example of our village raising our children. I met my six year old at the bus stop as we have to cross Loftus St to get home and after all, she is only six. Yesterday I was late and as I hurried down the hill I saw the bus pull up and Holly get off. I hope she waits for me, I thought. Then I saw the driver, Greg, join Holly on the footpath, take her by the hand, and walk her safely across the busy road. Imagine this occurring anywhere else in Sydney! This was yet another example of the extraordinary environment our children enjoy and of those harderto-define benefits of attending our local school. Thank you Greg I hope you read this newsletter, and thank you to all the Bundeena-Maianbar Bus Service team for the care you take with our kids. Dani Karis Any other stories that demonstrate how it takes a village to raise a child are welcome. MOTHERS DAY STALL Wow I am amazed at the effort Michelle Piggott has put into our school s Mothers Day stall. It is hard to imagine the hours of work involved in purchasing, wrapping and setting up the items. From all of us sincere thanks Michelle, you are one of the fantastic Mums at our school. I would also like to thank all the parents who gave of their time & helped on the stall. Thank You! WAKAKIRRI PARTICIPATION/PUBLICITY CONSENT FORM Please could all children who have NOT returned their Wakakirri Participation/Publicity Consent form do so as soon as possible to Mrs. Comans.
