Newsletter No. 332 Monday 5 th June 2017 What s On? Tuesdays Weekly 6:30pm Senior Training Speed training for all who wish to join in. Thursdays Weekly 6:30pm Senior and Junior Training Sundays Weekly Either Long Runs from the Club or races. News and Notices A plea for help on Thursday evenings Maura Brown needs some help with the Teas as she cannot serve tea and look after the Juniors with their biscuits. Maura does all the prep and helps clearing up but just needs a bit of help during the busy time. The Club thanks those who have already helped this year and especially Mark Oakerbee who stepped in at the last minute last week to assist. There is a rota on a clipboard in the Clubhouse please consider putting your name down at least once this year. Last week saw the second of the Club s mid-week races this time the first 10k race (results are below). 50 completed the 2 lap course with 5 pulling up with injury or deciding after 5k it was a tad too warm don t blame them one bit as I was warm just testing out my injured leg. Many thanks go once again to the volunteers, Lee Carey, setting up and marshaling, Billy Bremner, allocating runners start times and results, Gaelle Bryant and Louise Pearce, times, Gena Jackman and Chloe Martin- Brown, runners numbers, Bernie Wing, Phil (I ve got an I Love NY cap and I love it) Cole and Paul Hensby. Please consider volunteering for at least one of the planned 6 races as this makes Lee Carey s life a lot easier. For the remaining 4 races runners will be allocated to start waves based on their performance in the first two races. Don t worry if you have not completed a race yet. Just turn up with your number and Billy will slot you into a wave on the evening. Three Counties Running Club is organising a weakest link team relay competition to take place during the evening of Wednesday 26 July in Wisbech Park. The Weakest Link will see teams of three runners racing around a

course approximately 1.25k per lap with each runner completing 2 laps individually before the team runs the final 2 laps together. The team s overall time will be recorded when the final team member crosses the finishing line. As well as teams from TCRC we are inviting runners from Fenland Running Club, March AC, Ryston Runners, Chatteris Bodymode, Thorney, Eye Community Runners, Whizzy Tri Club and Halmer Harriers. There will be an entry fee of 7.50 per team and initially a maximum of 10 teams per club. They welcome entries from teams of minors provided each team member has written permission from a parent/guardian. The competition will start at 7pm. Teams will be able to collect their numbers and pay entry fees from 6 pm. To register to take part teams should email tcrcweakestlink@gmail.com before midnight on Sunday 23 July with details of their team members and club. Any further questions can also be sent to that address. If you can assist with marshaling please let Simon Render know. The Club s AGM is to be held tomorrow at 8pm in the Clubhouse. All paid up members are welcome. The full agenda has been posted on the clubhouse notice board and the business on the day will include a finance update, the election of the Committee, a proposal regarding the annual membership fees and an update regarding key club races or teams such as the Whitemoor 5 Miler and Fun Run (formally the Spud Run), the Round Norfolk Relay, the Hereward Relay and the hosting of the March Frostbite League race. Due to the retirement, from the Committee, of several long standing committee members there are some vacancies. If you would like to help with the running of your club and or the shaping of its future and would like to be considered as a Committee member please drop me a line before the meeting. Please note that the Club s website is now www.marchac.co.uk and has recently had a number of additions which include the results from the first Intra-Club 5k race this summer and the dates for the future club races, Dates for your Dairy, London Marathon best times for March runners, the Whitemoor 5 Miler and Fun Run entry form and a list of entries in the Whitemoor 5 Miler which will be updated on a weekly basis. Forthcoming March AC Social events Saturday 24 th June we have the 3 rd Annual Summer Sizzler which will feature Highland Games, watch out for that caber!, and a BBQ this will be held at the Clubhouse starting at 2pm Friday 15 th Dec we have the Club s Christmas Party music by the Junkyard Preachers venue March Golf Club date Friday 15 th December. Entries are now open for the Club s Summer runs on 2 nd July. There are two races the Whitemoor 5 Miler and Darren s Dash (approx. 1.5 mile Fun Run). If you want to enter please print an entry form from our website www.marchac.co.uk and give the completed form and money to Katie or Malcolm Hunt or send it to Katie in the post (address is on the form). You can also hand forms and money to Lee Carey or Stephen Cowell and we will get them to Katie. Please do not use the on-line system as that attracts a charge for each entry. If you are not running but can offer some on the day help please speak to Lee Carey all help will be appreciated. The Club has entered 6 teams in the Green Wheel Relay on 18 th June. The teams are:

The Club will needs lots of help to make sure the race goes smoothly so if you can lend a hand please speak to me or one of the others mentioned we will need marshals, timekeepers, people to hand out mementos/water etc and to help with setting to course up and managing the results.
